So I bought a gamecube...

Never seen the game for PC. :)

hehe nah I originally thought you refered to "PC" as a typical PC shooter.

I loved the Prime games, but I felt a lil disapointment with 2nd even if it's still good.

I got burnt out with the 2nd one..and now with the stuff 'required' to do a good run on Prime 2 that I can't get off, I just don't have fun with it anymore.

SOAL would probably be a good buy, like NLB2 said.

buy monkey ball 1 and never stop playing until you unlock all the master levels.... this will get you your moneys worth on the cube alone.

And just be cause you clearly need re-telling your RE4 ideas are just silly.

Fzero-GX is going for 15$ used, is there a lot of replay value in this game?

I picked up Super Monkey Ball, Wind Waker and Skies of Arcadia for 48$ and Money Ball was still sealed.

yup, rediculously difficult in some parts.

Personally, I've played F-Zero GX more than any other game this generation. It is my GOTG.

Getting it for $15 is practically a crime.

I understand a lot of people posted pretty long lists, but if you have to narrow it down I'd definately say get Animal Crossing. It's one of my favorite GC games, it's a very charming little title. Of course, its not for everyone so just check it out a little further before you get it but I recommend you give it a chance.

And F-zero is a fantastic game for 15 bucks!

>>>buy monkey ball 1 and never stop playing until you unlock all the master levels.... this will get you your moneys worth on the cube alone.<<<

Super Monkey Ball is no longer a reason to have GC. Super Monkey Ball Plus on Xbox and PS2 is like karmic punishment for Monkey Ball coming out on GC but not DC, (lead platform, NAOMI arcade game) lol.

Also, waiting for the PS2 version of RE4 is just DUMB. Whatever content is added, if any, will not be made by Mikami anyway. Downgrades, OTOH, are inevitable.

First, you must get RE4!!! Screw the bullshit PS2 extras, the Gamecube one is where it's at.

Second, yes FZero at $15 is more than a steal, it's like they're giving you money to play, Fucking awesome game.

Are there any good puzzle games for GC? one of my girlfriends gave me a Bust-A-Move 3000 for free but it there anything else? Tetris games, etc

And to all the fucking haters out there, I've made my descision, I'm going to buy the PS2 version when it's released I'll play the GC once my friend is finished playing it, but I have NO INTENTION WHAT SO EVER TO BUY IT NOW.

BuddyChrist was pimping Mr driller Drill spirits, but it's import. apparently kickass.

Oh and nobodys a hater. Your RE4 thing is just retarded. You are going to wait nearly a year for a product that will be downgraded from what is currently the gaming equivalent of a dirty threeway with swedish lesbians. I mean, it's like saying "I would rather wait for the bulldykes with the herpes HATERZ"

but whatever.

So this week I was at my local gameshop and I see they had a clearence on refurbished GC's directly from Nintendo, so I said what the hell 30$ for a cube can't hurt. So I picked it up along with a couple of remotes and a couple of memory cards and game. Ended up costing me about 130$ for everything which is pretty good keeping in mind that my local EB has the console new for $119.99CAD.

$30 (Canadian, I'm guessing) for a refurbished GameCube? Has anyone seen a deal like this in the states? As soon as I see a Cube for $50, I'm picking one up.

Yep the Cubes are or actually were 30$CAD which is damn cheap cause they go for 99.99$ at our Best Buy equivilant Futureshop. Problem is 95% of the consoles that were refurbished was the ugly indigo, I was luck enough to go through most of them boxes to find a Jet Black console. They weren't inside the original GC boxes but inside OEM cases.

If anyone is intrested, if they still have them in stock I'll be more then happy to pick one up and ship one out if you pay all charges

I'm totally interested in this, I'll let you know soon.

You're waiting for an inferior game available now?

:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol

I know you're probably sick of hearing about RE4, but listen:

YOUR FRIENDS ARE WRONG.

The response you've had here should be telling enough. When Xbots, PS2 fans and people who just normally hate being a GC owner post in your thread in absolute horror at you waiting for the PS2 version -- you gotta ask yourself if there's something to it after all surely?

If it was an argument of you preferring the PS2 controller, or wanting to have the fullest library of good games possible for the machine -- then yeah, maybe. But you being a Gamecube owner in the here and now DEMANDS that you give the game a chance. You might wait 9 months for the game to be re-released at full price, with rubbish "extras" and a quality that remains to be seen. You'd be in a minority if you think the PS2 will run the game any better.

The gamecube runs the game perfectly by the way. Perhaps your friends' eyes and brains refresh at 90fps or something. The game is locked a 30fps for the entirity that I've played. There isn't a dip below 24fps that I can perceive. It's absolutely gorgeous and one the best looking, best moving games this generation.

I'm not saying your friends are liars - but the people praising the game here aren't liars either. It's one of the better Gamecube games.

MY GAMECUBE RECOMMENDATIONS:

Action/Adventure: Beyond Good & Evil, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time

Platformers: Sonic Adventure 2: Battle or Sonic Heroes (buy them cheap if you buy them at all), Super Mario Sunshine, Donkey Kong: Jungle Beat, Viewtiful Joe 1/2

Racers: F Zero GX, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, 1080 Avalanche, SSX3

First Person Adventure: Metroid Prime, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes

First Person Shooter: Timesplitters 2

GBA connectivity: Pacman VS (comes with R:Racers or Pacman World 2), The Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords

Fighting: the Naruto games (import), Soul Calibur II

Survival Horror: Resident Evil remake, Resident Evil 4, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem

Music: Donkey Konga (the PAL version is more challenging than the US one and has better songs IMO)

"Other": Pikmin 2, Super Monkey Ball 1/2

Multiplayer must haves: Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, Super Monkey Ball 1/2, Wario Ware Mega Game$, Timesplitters 2, Pacman VS (requires one GBA), The Four Swords (requires two or more GBA)

Out of those games I just listed, some are on other platforms.

I think Timesplitters 2 is highly under-rated. It has a lot of unlockables, and is enjoyable with a great style. It's far more 'Goldeneye' than ANY of EA's James Bond games. On PS2 you'd need a multitap. Gamecube multiplayer is a blast with 4 players, there are plenty of modes and characters to unlock. You'll even get a kick out of playing Anaconda and the other retro games which are hidden around the levels in 1-4 players. If you have an Xbox you could get it for that. The Xbox and PS2 versions have system link but I don't know how likely you are to use that. Either way, it's recommended.
Super Monkey Ball 1/2 are coming out on the other platforms in the form of Super Monkey Ball DX. This has about 40 extra levels or something like that. The game is ported by someone other than AV I believe, so I don't know if those extra levels will be up to snuff or not. Either way, get the Monkey Ball games. If you find the first two going ultra cheap (more than possible) then pick them up. Alternatively, if you can't find them, and the two together would cost the same or more than a full priced game - get SMB-DX.

Get RE4 foo. Why wait? It makes *no* sense. But whatever it is your money. :D

Anyway, I would tread lightly with Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. Metroid is one of my favorite franchises but I just can't get into Echoes. I don't know if it is the setting or all the damn excessive scanning or lack of real story. I thought Metroid Prime was a great game, but I may have been a little more leniant since it was the first real Metroid game in a long time and it did a great job in 3D. I'm not harping about the controls here as I think they are fine. Hate to say it, but I've found the MP2: E experience dull and boring so far (About five hours in).

FZERO GX is worth it for $15, it doesn't have much replay value though. once you've finished all the leagues in all difficulty modes there is'nt much to do. It's pretty Easy too, especially if you are a Wipeout Prodigy such as myself.

I know it's been said 1000 times in this thread already, but you've gotta be fucking retarded to wait for the PS2 version of RE4. Yes, FUCKING RETARDED.

Calling me a retard, doesn't change the fact that I've made my decision and I'm stick to it, Fuck Nut. I'll play it on the GC in a couple of weeks if I like it I may consider buying it when the price drops to below 20$ lol. But that still doesn't change the fact I'll be buying the PS2 version no matter what you idiots say or do.

Now either drop the RE4 shit and get out of this thread or make suggestions.

People are being typically agressive with you, but its only because they feel strongly.
I promise you're making a good decision by trying it out now.

This reminds me of when, in 2003, I thought KOTOR had this vibe of being overrated, and people got pissed at me for the comment (but on a much smaller scale. I think it was Wellington and maybe someone else).

Then I got the Xbox with Ninja Gaiden and KOTOR (simply because it dropped to $30 the day I bought the system), and ended up only keeping KOTOR... and I loved it.

So the moral of the story is: GAF usually knows what it's talking about, and if you don't conform now, I'll kill you.

But KOTOR was overrated! I played it both on Xbox & PC and I still don't see what all the hype was about. Samething with Halo played it both on Xbox & PC and got the same feeling as KOTOR. But then again Halo PC is a lot of fun online.

I had about the same feeling...and it didn't really shift too much for me in the span of the game. I really enjoyed the gameplay aspects of it, but dull and boring would be my basic reaction with the basic areas. It does get better with the levels to come, and I think that the game does grow more interesting, but it lacked the atmospheric punch of Metroid Prime for me.

My suggestion, or my strongest, has to be a Game Boy Player and Minish Cap. Man, it rocks.

If you already own a GBA, buy Four Swords Adventures when it goes Player's Choice. I'd say it'll be worth $20 Single Player.

Well to each his own and all that jazz. By the way, you paid $48 for SoAL? Not that it isn't worth that much, but it's a lot cheaper elsewhere. Where I work it's $20.

LMAO.

Here's why we won't "drop the RE4 shit", it just doesn't make sense. You ask us for suggestions, and we all suggest arguable one of the best games this gen, on any system, and you just keep giving bullshit. We might as well just close the thread now since pretty much every half-decent GC game has already been mentioned in many posts above and we're obviously not going to convince you that RE4 is worth buying, dispite it's overwhelming support by almost everyone.

EDIT:

I will die of laughter if this game gets released on the PS2 in December and is censored, he would have waited almost a year for less content (in that area at least) :p

Oh and by that time, the GC version will cost $30.

Super Monkey Ball, Wind Waker and Skies of Arcadia 48$ for the Bundle, it was 19.99$ for Legends in Mint condition
