So, I denied some kid wanting me to buy GTA for him

GTA:San Andreas has a restricted rating here in NZ, meaning you have to be 18 to purchase it. I was in a department store and some kid asked me to get him GTA (he's pay, of course). I denied him.

So, am I a wimp? A good samaritan, turning him from the evils of video games, possibly saving the lives of the very people he was going to shoot and maim in a stolen car? Or just a dedicated N-bot, making sure GTA gets one less sale?

No doubt, he managed to get hold of a copy somehow. Anyway, what would you guys normally do? I've denied kids wanting cigarettes and alcohol before - I don't know why people approach me - maybe I look old enough to be the legal age, yet young enough to sympathise with their plight. Maybe I just look like a chump.

If he paid me another 50 I mightve done it.

edit: Ok on a more serious note, I'd never buy that kid the game. Its tards like these whose parents end up suing game companies.

I'd take his money and never come back... that'll teach em to talk and give money to strangers.

I'd have said no as well, same thing I do when those bloody chavs ask me to buy cigarettes for them. The youth of today. Yeah but, no but, yeah but, no but. :lol

Oh and that means one less sale of GTA.

I've turned down people wanting me to buy them cigarettes, probably do the same in this situation.

Though I do like the idea of taking his money and walking away :lol

i've turned down kids for cigarettes, booze, and various other games, the first two PS2 GTAs included. When i worked at Gamestop, i even had one kid who asked the guy behind him to buy the game for him.

I've bought Cigs for kids before, as long as they gave me an extra buck or two. It's not like someone else won't do it. Might as well get a free iced tea out of the deal

I'd take his money, steal his bike and shake him really hard,

Good point, on second thought I'd punch him off his bike... kick him while he's down then take his money AND his bike. Then tell him he's experienced real life GTA, no need for the game now!

As a sales person, what would you do then? I suppose you still reserve the right to not sell the game...

IT seems so sad and desperate for a teenager to go asking strangers, nay BEGGING strangers to get them some video game. GTA was $20NZ cheaper there than where I got it, so bugger if I was getting it for him cheaper than me... :p

When I was in retail id deny kids the same shit all the time. Even get them asking me to buy cigs, alcohol on the streets. "No" is always my answer. Those restrictions are there for a reason.

I'd buy the game if the child gave me an extra $10.

I would then follow the kid home, knock on their door, and let his parents know that he has the game.

When I was younger I had people buy me cigs, alcohol, movie tickets, and even get me into clubs. Some assholes said no, but the majority of people did it without hesitation, and at most I let them keep thew change (only coins).
NYC is great.

When I was in Canadian Tire one day, a kid came up to me and asked me to buy him a gun :P

Who needs a game when you can go and do the real thing?

Er....and no I didn't buy it for him...

what's funny is i actually did that before with VC... and it was the suggestion of the clerk at gamestop...

Ive actually been a clerk that suggested doing this

(note the kid was like 16, not 12 or something, so his uncle came in and bought it for him)

Ironically, I just turned down a kid wanting me to buy a pack of smokes for him while at the gasoline station this week.

I've bought smokes for people a year or two under legal, and would probably do the same in the case of video games (eg. 16 year old as opposed to 17). It's just the kids and early teens you have to watch out for.

I would have turned the kid down. I complain about the degredation of today's society all the time, and I would be a hypocrite if I didn't turn the kid down. Of course, it's not the game causing the degredation, but kids who ask adults to buy things for them, and there parents who let them talk to strangers in the first place.

Yeah, playing that game might influence him negatively, so I'd kill him and sell his organs, that would give him a good example of how people should behave, AHAHAHAH IM SO COOL AND BUFF, SMALL KIDS AND INTERNET NERDS BOW TO ME!1!
...

Or I'd just buy him the game, maybe kindly refuse if it was about cigarettes or alchool. Sorry for not being manly like you guys =(

I'd have taken his money and bought him Mario Sunshine instead.

Now this is insane. You don't have the right to do this to an innocent child lol

I would have denied that kid too. Law isn't for dog. He have to respect the law like everybody is supposed to.
