So internet, why ain't you playing Super Monday Night Combat?

Because every time I try to play it feels like uberent is shitting in my mouth. Great concept, great setting and atmosphere, that has sadly been ruined by the devs never addressing the real issues and instead adding more hats and making everything more expensive in the store.

Shit, they won't even nerf something like massive air, a product so broken you're gimped without it, because it brings them money. And the most recently released champ costs $3 more than any other for absolutely no reason.

That and the fact that literally every match I have played in the last 4 months has been a roll one way or the other is killing this game.

I know this thread was made to convince people to get SMNC, but man your post is 100% spot on.

I didn't feel like I could make enough of a difference in my team. There were way too many lopsided matches where one team stomps the other and unlike other multiplayer games I've played it's not very fun on the losing side. I have no clue whether it's a problem with preforms in queues or just the way the game is designed however the last time I played was on that newer map with the airstrikes. Getting killed by people I could see was OK but getting killed because some guy pushes a button somewhere else on the map seemed pretty retarded game design to me. I don't play MOBA type games normally (unless you count Savage 2 ages ago) so this is coming from a person who likes playing shooters.

Turbocross is really fun. It's too bad they decided to fuck with the matchmaking so much - I play with 3 friends and they completely fucked up multi person ques, and also took away four person ques entirely. So I guess I just can't play with my friends... which means I'm not going to play it at all.

I assume playing with people who knew what they are doing in the game is more fun but I spent a few hours with it and it was very much a rush of just seeing who could make it to the end first. There was really no defensive play, and, I felt like everything had too much HP and I could never really find a class that was enjoyable.

I thought maybe the genre just wasn't for me, but I got into Awesomenauts right after and had an insane amount of fun with it. SMNC just never clicked for me.

Sounds like Monday Night Combat to me.

Is the community in SMNC a decent size or is it tiny like MNC's?

I enjoyed playing it a few times, but there's some things that are just unforgivable.

1. Last I played, if somebody drops out there's nobody to replace them. 5v4, when you're a terrible player, is a loss.

2. Their cosmetic stuff is stupid expensive. Oh, and ten dollars for a pro? You kidding me uber?

3. There's not an easy way to communicate. You have to type out messages to people. I don't like talking to strangers, so it's a bit of a drag.

4. No map. Why can't I see where my team mates are?

I'll hop on again in a month to see if anything gets fixed, but it just feels a mess right now.

I was playing it with a friend until they removed the ability to queue less than a full team into a 5v5 game. I don't want to play 2v2 or 3v3 but I want to play with my friend.

Well its bigger than MNC but it was doing very poorly for a F2P game, every day it was going down and down instead of leveling out to a decend player base like any other F2P game. Totalbiscuits video that just went up managed to bring an influx of new players. I think the biggest culprit more than anything is the weekly 2gig patches.

Steam stats says says 1,306 on concurrently and a top of 1,824. Before it was going close to 1.2K tops. When TB's vid first came out it was over 2K. Game launched at 5.5K tops and has being going down ever since.

I liked the original pretty well. I guess it's because I find Team Fortress 2 offers better quality with the same model. (And I don't play that as much as I'd like already). Alternatively, there are better DotA games with the same model, also.

With F2P, that's what the value proposition is for me: what is my time worth and how much will I get out of investing that time in the game.

Felt the game was boring and the large patch sizes means that I quickly uninstalled it. Dungeon Defenders is in the same boat with its constant large updates.

Turned the what made the first game great, into garbage dota style game. If I wanted that I'd play SMITE, DOTA 2, or a host of other games that just straight up do it better.

1. Didn't like the first game.

2. I hate how they handle the heroes' availability. Making every hero available to everyone is doing it right (Valve); SMNC's current method is not.

3. Not into DOTA-style games to begin with (and if I wanted to play DOTA, I'd play DOTA.)

I actually want to play this, and have been meaning to, but it seems like every time I get a time window to jump on it, it has a huge update to do. NZ internet is pretty slow too, so by the time it's updated, the urge has passed.

Looking forward to giving it a go soon though, played once in beta and I did like it.

Not that I really care, but why is everything so expensive in the store?

I loved MNC but I'm not really in to SMNC at all.

It's too different from MNC. They haven't got the MOBA elements working properly. Paying for pro's is awful. The progression system is the worst thing. Endorsements are way too expensive.

I like MNC because it was tagged as a Sports game. And a sporty 3rd person action (shooter) is exactly what it felt like.

I like DotA, HoN, LoL, and the RTSRPG genre (MobA is incorrect so stop calling it that). But I don't think SMNC blended (MNC) and RTSRPG gracefully.

The art, mechanics, even the business model didn't bother me. The game was just badly designed. It was literally: "Let's put this game into that game".

I think camera, long-term goals, and moment-to-moment gameplay design played a role in the game's demise.

No real carrot on a stick cod style gimmick. It's really the only thing that can keep me coming back to a multiplayer shooter. I'm pretty sure you can unlock junk, but it seems to take forever. I need a constant flow of prizes thrown at me to hold interest.

I loved it (I was a big fan of MNC as well). For a while there right after release I was playing it with friends almost every night, and I even put $15 into the game just to show my support for Uber. Then my closest friend who played it left on a mission trip and Uber disabled matchmaking in groups of three which pissed me and my other friends off because we usually played in threes of fours... Now I dont really have anyone to play with and I refuse to solo in MOBAs. I'd love to play with some gaffers though, I think I'm actually already in the GAF SMNC steam group.

Edit: Also Gun Mountain sucks.

The gated pros is lame, standard f2p design, make all content free through prohibitive time investment to push people to spend money. I have to say I like Valve's take on the business model better although I still prefer buying a game outright. I would rather buy a whole game than deal with content gates. I get why they went f2p given what happened with MNC, they didn't attract a large, active base of users with MNC, they want to cast as wide a net as possible with SMNC, they want to try and attract as many users as possible with SMNC buuuut I just don't see why I should play this over Team Fortress 2.

The match-making sucks, you wait minutes to play a game. SMNC doesn't even support my native, monitor resolution when I believe MNC did but it's been so long I don't rightly recall. The community was about 1300k, with about 800-900 being in North America with roughly the same skill divide I encountered in MNC.

Wish Uber Entertainment luck but I think I'll be spending even less time SMNC than I did MNC. The difference was, I gave them money for MNC, I bought a 4 pack and gifted the extra copies to friends, with SMNC, didn't spend a dime.

Matchmaking, Balance, and Business Model are the three most urgent things Uber Ent needs to address.

Game is very fun but has critical issues.

I'd like to try it, but it looks like the community is already in "hard core mode" and I don't think I'm willing to try to catch up at this point.

I just started today, just by following the basic tips that TotalBiscuit mentioned in his video I do better than most in my matches.

For those with issues Re: Patch size, Uber recently released the Uber Launcher which is a stand-alone version of the game (no Steam features unfortunately) with ~50MB patches.

http://forums.uberent.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=29910

I have ~1800 games and have been playing since Late November/Early December. The game has some fundamental flaws that Uber refuses to fix. They don't listen to any feedback unless you're agreeing with their design decisions. As another poster mentioned, Massive Air has become a staple product (at 6750CC, roughly 6 days of playing for 2-3 hours a day without buying boosts), their prices are going up for most of their content and they've just launched the TF2 crate system to lock more content behind paywalls. It's still pay to pretty and not pay to win, but despite vocal player concerns about matchmaking, store pricing, and balance issues, Uber only cares about pumping out reskins to keep the doors open another month.

They expect their customers to be thankful we're testing their Free to Play game instead of providing incentives to actually support their company. Despite Giant Bomb Promos, Destructoid Promos, TF2 Promos, TotalBiscuit reviews; the population has scarcely grown (despite dev claims that the population is booming) and their Executive Producer has already stated that they expect player churn and aren't concerned about keeping their playerbase happy.

I love the MNC universe, but Uber's management of the franchise is just hideous. I suppose that's what happens when you surround yourself with "dedicated" fans who agree with every idea you feed them.

I just started today, just by following the basic tips that TotalBiscuit mentioned in his video I do better than most in my matches.

If you just started today you are probably <level 20. Since matchmaking went live, a new player bracket was created so you are getting paired with other new players. Once you pass level 20, the real fun begins.

I really enjoyed SMNC when it first came out. I liked that it played like a shooter but had most of the strategy elements of a MOBA game. It felt like it was well balanced and that skill really mattered.

A month and several updates later, it felt less balanced due to the Gunner and Assassin classes dominating consistently. The biggest issue came with the community not growing enough, only leaving the hardcore MOBA type that gets pissed when their teammates aren't "playing right." The game could use a few tweaks but the foundation is quite solid. My big issue with the game at the moment is a coarse and unfriendly community. This is apparently an issue with many MOBA games but getting bitched at by teammates for not playing perfectly is never fun, and this is coming from a team player whose SMNC winloss record is 41-13. For newcomers the game is probably as impenetrable as most other MOBA games which is too bad as the shooter-style gameplay is more accessible than the RTS-style gameplay of other MOBA games.

I think MNC had a great balance of damage vs survivability, SMNC skews it a LOT towards survivability. I guess I could play Turbo Cross but I already played about a hundred hours of standard MNC so I've had my fill.
