not my cup of tea

embarrassing

anyway speaking of embarrassing nerds, why's everybody in this thread still in a huff as if the person who made this video is the person reviewing the game? y'all are obtuse as heck

For games like Dark Souls? Sure.

But shooters? Fuck no.

On the Elite I always have 8 fingers active

on a keyboard, 3 fingers are tied to movement, if i need to activate some ability I need to use one or more fingers that is used for WASD movement
Thus, using abilities impairs my movement, this is never a problem in an Elite controller

KB/M is trash compared to Elite

Have you actually used WASD in your life? Because that's not an issue at all unless you use the number row to select weapons.
I actually have a somewhat impaired left hand and it's not an issue for me.

If you really feel that a controller is better for FPS games then good for you

But 99% of the world can, and will, disagree with you

I only have a PC and can easily press at least 8 other keys while moving with WASD. Plus my mouse has 5 buttons on it

Just because you can do something doesnt mean you should

What the fuck am I reading? You can have 20+ buttons available for all I care, nothing outweighs the benefit of precision from a good gaming mouse alone.
Plus my mouse has like 6+ buttons on it alone. There are plenty of keys / buttons available.

I have an absurd number of hours in WarFrame, a game where everyone has 4 abilities, 3 weapons plus an insane movement system.
Absolutely no issues with using abilities, weapons and performing acrobatics all at the same time with M&KB.
And considering how fast the game is, aiming during insane acrobatics is encouraged and something I could never do with a stick.

well this aint nearly as bad to be fair

I also dont know the context but im more inclined to understand someone having issues with a specificil wheel considering its far more unusual than a controller with 2 sticks we've been using for years
You don't turn the wheel to that degree at 50+mph on a nearly straight street, it's not an off-road game.

Is it really common that game journalists aren't that good at games? I kind of understand the argument that they don't have time to get good at any one game, but still. You'd think they spent a lot of time playing games before they got a professional job doing it.

I guess it just depends on the person and the game. See Patrick Klepek and Jeff Green playing Dark Souls.

This is a joke, right?

Otherwise, go play a few matches of Quake live on your "elite" controller and get back to me.

Also the mouse.... when you track an enemy you need to swipe it and then lift it and put it back in a center position so you can continue to swipe it to track enemies.

so if you need to use an ability while you are tracking an enemy, you can find yourself stalling completely since you need to reset the mouse position while you release the WASD key
it is ridiculous

You never played with kb+m do you? God this post is just too hilarious

You clearly haven't played with a well-tuned mouse setup...

EDIT: Or, in fact, continue to fail to realize that the accuracy of a mouse still compensates for positional correcting.

Get a bigger mouse pad: Increase the sensitivity. Learn to play with m/kb.

Hahahaha oh yeah you never played kb+m as from this post..unbelievable.

My fifth digit has access to ctrl and shift. My thumb has control of C to N. My right hand has access to 5 buttons plus a scroll wheel to scroll through weapons.

That's ignoring the fact that I have some degree of coordination and can move my other fingers quickly to access the number row as well as other keys in the near vicinity of the WASD region.

Like I used to play Counter Strike semi-competitively so I might be different. But I honestly can't comprehend that stance unless you literally don't know how to play with a keyboard and mouse.

As someone who retired from pc gaming, there is no way any current controller can stack up to keyboard and mouse for shooters. Id love to see you play quake 3 against a mouse user.

Hey, stop that.

While I don't agree that a controller is better than kB/m on PC, this controller shitting is ridiculous.

I mainly play with a controller on PC due to it being really uncomfortable lying on my couch with a kB/m and I can fly through any FPS with ease on a controller. I'm currently beasting through Doom.

Sounds like some PC gamers in here would be like the Polygon video using a controller and blame the tool rather than themselves.

I guarantee you everyone in here pooing on controllers can operate a controller more competently than the Polygon person.

Everyone is laughing at the claim that a controller would be better than kb/m. No one is saying that a controller is useless.

Not piling on but your mouse is shit. If you have a high Dpi mouse you need to move it half an inch to cross the screen, and should never need to lift and reposition. This occurs because your mouse requires a large physical area for the pointer to cross the screen. Anyone playing games on a PC should know this is a non issue with a mouse that wasn't £4.99. A good mouse will also have infinite scroll, which frankly is the best thing since microwave popcorn.

I'm laughing so hard at the idea of nubbe with his mouse sensitivity so low that he has to furiously pick up and re-position the mouse to try and track an enemy who's circle-strafing him.The mouse makes a horrible clacking sound as he slams it into his desk over and over again. His brow furrows; sweat pours down his face; he curses the gods of PC gaming and pines for his Xbox® Elite™ Controller. If he had that, he'd be dominating all these CS:GO noobs!

In their defense, if you don't know about dpi, or have never used a mouse that didn't come from ASDA, then this is how you would expect them to behave. This is how every mouse in offices I've worked at have been, in schools, universities etc, which is why people tend to buy their own. I take my G500s to work with me every day because I cannot stand using the shitty office ones.

Eight fingers! Unlocking his full potential unlike those scrubs who play on PC who waste 3 fingers on movement and constantly have to lift their mouse up and down to even look around. Phil Spencer solved this problem 2 years ago with the Elite, yet people are still playing on PC. smh

im so glad mouse and keyboard players get their slice of the motion/gyro hate from the faithful dual analog crowd. XD

At the least is a consolation...

Now almost 20 years aiming mostly with an stick when better alternatives surfaced X(

That's actually how it was like playing X-Wing on PC and tracking TIE fighters
I got the worst mouse arm
Thank god for joysticks

I too would try my hardest to justify spending 150 euros on a controller xD

Well, it depends on the game. Plenty of CS players have their sens low enough that they do a 180 with a full mouse pad sweep

Why the fuck would you do that? It makes minor adjustments much easier, but much slower overall. I can't see how that is really beneficial unless you only play AWP at the back of the map.
