So what are you guys going to do if Bush wins the election?

Seriously, if Kerry wins I doubt there'll be any outcry from the conservatives, they'll probebly just go "ho hum, we'll see how this turns out" and not say anything beyond that. But if Bush wins, after all the months of rhetoric here about how "he cannot be President for another four years" what would you do if it came to that on November 3rd and you woke up with the realization that George W. Bush will be the president for four more years?

I would say "Well that about wraps it up for America!"

And then I would comiserate with my father, who has gone there for work and I think is possibly not allowed to vote for the solution to your current problem.

Leave the country. I thought this was already discussed at some point...?
I did a search, and though its hard to find things with so many political threads, I didn't see one that addressed this specifically.

And for those who are leaving the country, where will you go? just curious

Bitch about Bush online for 4 more years? I'd be down for moving out of the U.S. for the new experiences, but I'm kind of stuck in school (just finishing my generals). Oh, I'm poor too.

Not much, really.

Also, I know I harp on this, but anyone actually thinking about leaving the US if the president is re-elected is a wimp, a wuss and a moron. If you care that much, then join an activist group and try to make your own country better instead of whining on forums.

I believe bishoptl promised amnesty, free room and board and assistance filling out immigration forms (trust me, they're tricksy!) for the first 100 American forumites seeking to move to Canada for 4 years.

fennec fox: Yeah cause those groups have done so well up to this points to change what bush has messed up. And hey, I think if he gets elected again, thats just further proof of their potency as activist organizations.

Sorry, these days the voice of america is pretty muted by the religious fundementalists and crazy good ol boys DONT TREAD ON ME IM AMERICA!

I'll sigh with disappointment no matter who wins this thing.

I still don't know who I'm going to vote for. I dislike so much about both Bush and Kerry. Ugh. I can't really get behind Nader either, as I'd love to support third parties, but I'm not really down with most of his ideas either.

That's how it was in the early 60s, too. Nothing happens overnight!

Become the newest black citizen of France (only to be subsequently shelled by Emperor Bush's shock troops in 2009)

gather fellow americans and drive off a cliff into the ocean in a single file line of cars. Lots of carpooling.

The thing that really pains me is how such a large portion of the country is split into two highly galvanized groups. That's not going to magically disappear after the election. It's only going to be strengthened, at the very least for the near future. Either candidate is going to have to make massive strides in something that relatively no one can not be pleased with in order to dampen the bitterness the other side will have. I just fear that the next election is going to be just as bad, if not worse, than this one with all the pentup anger that remains from this year's results. Just look at the bitterness from the last election that remains.

What's it going to take for people to open their eyes and start thinking on their own? To be a little more open minded and seek some real, intelligent solutions to the many difficult problems this country faces? It just seems to me that we're on this muddy slope and we're all sliding down it but no one wants to try and climb back up because they'll get dirtier. So they keep sliding rather than struggling to the top where they can get clean. [/cornball analogy]

Take bets on Titor's prediction coming true.

I'd put 10 bucks on parts of it happening for real.

Laugh, then consider how much I should charge to rent out the basement of my house following the hoardes of Americans that will dash over the Western border and discover Vancouver.

I'll probably live my life exactly the same way I have been for years, seeing as how it doesn't, and probably won't, matter a whole lot to my personal life who the president is.

I will celebrate a little, though.

Do you find this to be mutually exclusive with supporting one of the two mainstream candidates?

I'd be on a flight to DC to protest(because if Bush wins...he'll have cheated...again). Things will either be squashed...in which case I'll start packing my bags...or I'll probably be killed or arrested in whatever riot occurs.

Obviously we can't let Bush run over us again. I was stupid enough to give him the benefit of the doubt last time.

Edit: and yes, the guys who want to run away from the problem are wussies

All I have to say is that those of you who promised to move if Bush won in 2000 had better actually follow through this time. :D
