Socket 939 or Socket 754?

Im starting to piece together my new system


(on paper)



I want a 64bit cpu AMD

a pci express board


and new 3d card



which was the socket size to get again i forget?

you don't have to use SLI at the start, but if you want SLI so you can run 2 6600GT's your better off getting 1 6800GT, certainly 2 6600GT's do offer some performance gain over 1 6800 GT, but think of it like this:

You could have 1 6800 GT now and have performance almost equal to 2 6600 GT's and then add another 6800 GT later when your system is staring to get slow. Or you can get 2 6600GT's and have a little better performance than 1 6800 GT without an option to upgrade

Also, I'm not sure that you need to have a PSU with a 24 pin connection, it would lioko better, but I think you can use a regular 20-pin PSU. I'd suggest more research on this since I'm not absolutely sure about it.

Or you could buy 1 6600GT now and add another 6600GT later or just replace it with two 6800GTs when the prices become more sane.
