Here is the rough translation into English:

It may be for the new downloadable maps. Dec, Jan and Feb all have a new map for SOCOM 2 on the demo disks.

Lord knows that I hope it's for SOCOM 3.

this doesn't suprise me. Launch would have been too early for a game like SOCOM3 on PS3. They need to build a userbase too for a game that relies so much on online. I'd still expect Socom4 a year or so after PS3 launches.

Sony and MS have put quite a bit of emphasis on the importance of online gaming going forward. If they don't have online games available at launch for their next gen systems, then they'll be undermining their position and taking steps backward. Besides, unless the PS3 launch somehow completely fails to meet or even come close to sales expectations, there'll be at least a million consoles on the market in no time and I'm sure a significant chunk of those people will be SOCOM players.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a SOCOM 3 on PS2 - after all, Sony have said they plan to push the PS2 throughout a 10 yr lifespan. I don't think we're just going to suddenly see all the franchises that have been instrumental in the 1st 5 years suddenly go away and get replaced by completely new properties.

This would be interesting to me if I had played either of the other two. I almost picked up SOCOM 2 the other day for like $12, but I passed on it. I could play online with PS2, but I only have 56K so.. bleh..

Anyways, I was just thinking about a 3rd Socom today during class. And here it, supposedly, is. It's framerate better be infinitely better off and especially online.
