My benefit of the doubt would be that these are hard-core preservationists tryna "save" a game historically

But it could also be 10 green hairs that just wont let it go and still feel they stand a fighting chance in the gender wars

Okay, genuine question, what the fuck are people talking about with green hair or purple hair fans?

Like, the game flopped because no one wanted it but like 5 people, the so called liberal woke fans people are mentioning here?

They don't exist, those green hair or purple hair people looked at Concord and said "Fuck that, i won't be paying money to play that shit!" as much as you guys.

I think the people who bought Concord were just people who heard it was made by Ex-Bungie people or someone who really wanted discount Guardians Of The Galaxy, because the people you guys are saying must be Concord fans...hated the game too.

Concord is like the least divisive game i have ever seen, woke and anti-woke people looked at this game, and they all decided to ignore this game and go play something else or go complain online about games instead.

And yeah, i can see this being for preservation, to let people know the game that flopped so badly it got shut down in less than a month, a flop bigger than E.T.

Concorde is a gem for history and will forever be a cautionary tale for many to study in the future. It should be preserved for simply that reason alone. Similar to E.T. It is a product of its time and a time capsule of the horrible mind virus that pervaded the game industry.

this is why Stop Killing Games needs to succeed.

Sony should have ZERO rights to issue DMCA takedowns for this after stopping support for the game.

First time on Gaf?

Look at some of the reactions on here when it was shown that Ciri is the protagonist on Witcher 4. Everything is woke according to Gaf :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Sony is desperate to remove all thrace of Concord, because their image is all about having constant success, which is why they wiped everything about PS Vita sales figures from their own website. Concord reminds people that Sony have flops, but their image and brand is all about ''30 years of only success'', and that image and brand must be retained.

But they do have that right:
  • They gave everyone a refund for the game in order to take it down from stores and away from shelves.
  • That was done in order to bring it "back to development" so it could be wrote down as a loss in their financials.
  • Therefore, it is their legal obligation to ensure that the game does not remain playable nor available in any capacity going forward.

and praised the game in God's for that Concord has no right to be online at all its trash

that is currently the case... but it shouldn't be.

any abandoned game should be entirely free to be modded and kept working by the community as long as no profit is made from doing it.
that's what needs to change, it's literally what the Stop Killing Games initiative is about.

also they didn't refund everyone. there are people with disc versions out there they haven't been refunded (either by choice or because the retailer was a dick and their country has no consumer protection)

How does a handful of people playing this POS on private servers affect Sony's financials?

normally I would 1000% agree with you but in this case Concord is so garbage I'm going to let Sony have this one

I actually have principles and don't care about the quality of the game.
noone would even play this after a week or so of people trying it out of curiosity, but it still should be legal to do

Technically speaking this game shouldn't exist, it's not like sony is embarrassed or anything (at the end of the day the game flopped because of the hateful and bigoted people online) it's just that they don't wanna get sued
That's why they are taking down the videos

Because once you write down something as a loss (in order to lower the overall value of your combined assets, hence saving tens of millions in taxes; i.e. WB saved about 15-20M from shelving their Batgirl movie that cost them 90M to shoot), that content is not supposed to be distributed to consumers in any way, shape or form, nor further worked on internally anymore. So again, Sony is legally obligated to nuke these sort of initiatives regarding Concord in particular (it is a very much different scenario to folks setting up private Resistance, MotorStorm or Warhawk servers, which are all commercially released products).

For instance, you cannot write down The Last Of Us Online as, say, a 120M loss on your financials, "save" 25M in taxes, and three months later resume development and ship the game the following year. That's not how it works, not only "cheats" the system, but it is very likely illegal to do so.

W8 a tick.. did Sony applied this tax trick with Concord? It something like that possible with games/softwares ?! I thought only movie studios applied these tricks.

But like Resistance et al, Concord is also a commercially released product. They're probably trying to stop anyone talking about the time Sony shat themselves in public.

Just because Sony is trying to wish the game out of existence, doesn't mean people who bought a copy have to follow suit.

The game does need preserving. It's a piece of history as the biggest entertainment flop of all time. It's not like you can just dig copies out of landfills, it needs someone to put in real technical effort like these people are for it to be preserved.
