Sonic Boom |OT| Sonic 2014

Did you guys know about the 100 max ring thing? Where a lot of the secret bonus areas give you rings you can't collect since you'll likely be maxed out?
Well you can unlock your ring count. ..if you buy the 3ds version
Best way to upgrade health...clearly...

The ring count only goes up by 50 from what I played.
I haven't tested to see what beating the game gets you in ring count, but I bet it is no more than 100.

Still though, it really does not matter much if you got 200 or 2, the game still plays the same way.
I wouldn't mind if you could upgrade to make combat less tedious but I do not see any options...

I wish I had not finished the 3DS version because that means I have no excuse to not finish the Wii U one.
I guessed the first review score. The average is going to be 4/10 I can feel it.
I am hoping the 3DS can pull at least a 6 because I am rooting for it.

Best part from DarkspineSonic's stream:

I want to say I'm not shocked by how this game has turned out.
On the other hand....I never believed some of this stuff was possible. An easy infinite jump glitch? I'm guessing this game wasn't tested at all.

Also from the video, I noticed that the player just kept doing the jump instead of having Knuckles glide or climb the nearby wall to the other end.

.....Knuckles doesn't glide or climb does he? What the Christ.

Amazing title and OP.

Played the demo on 3DS and I wasn't quite feeling it. :(

Wii U one looks worse so I'm passing on it. Shame though. This OT will be better than the game.

The show looks like something the kids will love and eat up though.

This sums up the post I was going to make.

This is sort of a nitpick but I find it hard to believe that Richard Jaques is composing the OST for these games. The musical style is so bland and generic, almost like something you'd find in a non-Sonic licensed game. A bad one. Maybe it's because I was expecting something more Sonic Adventure-esque given the setting, but I didn't think it'd be this underwhelming.

(Sidenote: Been listening to this sweet fan made tune lately. Done by the same guy who scored the Unleashed Project trailer. Give it a listen!)

I think he's only on the 3DS version. And listening to the entire OST, I'm not sure he did all of it. However, tracks like this, this and this are more his style.

Well I have to say the game is a lot buggier than I expected to say the least. But hey maybe I'll get lucky with the bugs when I play it like with Sonic 06.

Those are pretty good, but the level design of the 3DS version doesn't really do them any favours. Quite the snooze fest lol. Then again, I've only played the demo.

Might get the console version this month, 3DS one for Christmas.

... so why is the music so bland, and bad? It doesn't sound like anything you would want to hear in a action platformer... Heck even when the bad guy shows up with his ship the music is still nice and peaceful...

Did they even make this music or buy it online somewhere from the music to sleep to soundtrack?

You know what other Sonic game had poor music design choices?

In an interesting coincidence, Richard Jaques worked on that game too. He did what he could there, but still.

Yeah I will say the 3DS demo sucks and does not really show the main game off that well.
Instead of pulling levels from World 3 (the ones designed around everyone), they stick with the first one and did not even give you any blueprint powers.
This video really represents the game better. It is like Sonic Colors + Yoshi's Island.
It at least understands what makes a Sonic game compared to the Wii U version.

Ok that does look better then the demo by far.
Yeah, the level in the demo was based around Sonic alone. Which makes it the worst choice to show off the game.
World 1's levels are Sonic focused, then Tails.
World 2 level is based around Sticks.
It would have made way more sense to put levels from World 3+ since they are designed around the whole team.

Ok never actually played that game... I heard the gameplay was different but interesting.

I did notice that. Sure you had maybe 1 part that used Tails or Sticks. But it was mainly sonic and didn't do a good job advertising the team based aspect.

The game grumps video is up
Sonic Boom: My Neckerchief!! - PART 1 - Game Grum…: http://youtu.be/4KZExNrr0N8

Well that was fast

Desilent's anger, oh man. He is right though, the 3DS version is indeed fun.
Sad that I am finished with it now...

Is it that short of a game?

Look for the same analyse of Sonic Boom in a couple of years.

lol, I don't think that will be the case. I did here some positive stuff though for that game though.
