The three sonic movies grossed around 1.1 billion at the box office. The first Mario movie grossed 1.3 billion on it's own. Not sure what you are trying to suggest here.
Simple. I said 'reduce the gap a little bit' on my previous message, nothing more.

Sega did a bunch of mistakes with Team Sonic Racing...

This time, they brought cross play, bigger budget and arrogant Nintendo is back:

Nintendogs will buy the Switch 2 at any price but less lobotomized Nintendo fans won't accept the price increase and will 'try' to punish them. (i respect them)
Plus, some families won't be able to buy several Switch 2 for their kids like before.

Reduce the gap just means reduce the gap.

It's a little bit the same for Switch 2 vs Steamdeck.

For now, people can laugh because there is only 5 millions decks against more than 100 million Switch.
Nonetheless, Deck/Sonic are recognized among gamers and could grow at a small but steady path.

With proper marketing Deck will easily pass 20 million units one day. (Sonic Racing could reach 10 millions and finally be something, Sega is just clumsy right now.

There is different arguments here. I think we all assume MKWorld will be the best game.

1.) Can Sega recapture the magic of Sega and All Star Racing 1 or Transformed? Both are top 6 "karting" games.
2.) Which is more fun for coach co=op?
3.) We assume MK will have excellent long term support. Will Sega also offer long term support?
4.) Will either have problematic "online servers"?
5.) Do both games run at smooth coach co-op experience?
6.) Is the gimmick of each game compelling? Or does it get old?

Having tried the Sonic Racing Cross Worlds beta, I have to say the lack of ambition of the game really shows and it's honestly painful.
Technically it's good and controls are... fine... but as a Sonic fan even i have to admit the stuff the new Mario Kart is doing is just way more interesting and fresh.

That's a shame, because the gimmick of Sonic Cross Worlds, seems like a unique concept with throwing the ring into another track.

Mario Kart World looks insane imho. People would have moaned to death if Nintendo had simply brought out the 9th vanilla version. But still some complain. Of course not having even experienced the game as yet.

it is nice but after a while they repeat so you get the same "cross" chunks between different levels, personally i don't think it is that interesting or defining. It is neat, by the way.

Maybe i am misunderstanding. Can it be any track on the game at random? Or is it just a few preset tracks?

If it is any track in the game at random, that seems neat.

From how the beta was set up, you decided the initial track (which were quite nice to look at tbh) and then the first one in the pack selects the "cross-track" from a selection of 2. These cross-tracks were loaded instantly but i think they were always the same ones no matter what the initial stage was.

This could be likely different in the final game of course.

Racing Transformed is unironically my favorite Kart racing game, its an all around fantastic game with a lot of variety in tracks and a great sensation of speed.

Such a pity there isn't a 60fps remaster/remake.

I'll play Sonic if it reviews well - earlier games were great. I'd like to play Mario Kart, but I'm not interested in buying a Switch 2...

If Sega don't mess up again, they'll have a window to really shine.
We're talking about Sega though 😅...

Sonic Racing all the way.
MKW's open world stuff just looks boring to me. If I get an itch to play Mario Kart I'm perfectly content with 8 Deluxe.

Team Sonic Racing kind of sucked (the team mechanic sure did at least), but Crossworlds looks to be a real return to form. I'm glad this series continues to exist in the kart racer space.
The first time I played Transformed I was taken by the sense of speed, the satisfying boost-stacking mechanic, the different variety of items and the snappier, less random feel to using them compared to Mario Kart. If you actually go back and play it today though, even maxed out on PC the low-poly graphics look extremely dated and iirc it's hard capped at 60fps. Transformed rules but it's ancient and this game will provide a much-needed contemporary refresh.

The closed network test was a smooth and fun experience for me on PS5 and sold me on the game. As someone who is not a Sonic fan whatsoever (I literally only play the racing games) I thought the game actually had a lot of charm. The voice line wheel you can use to socialize with your character in the lobby between online races was a fun little addition as well. To me the game obviously had a lot of love put into it. Sega emailed players a survey asking for feedback immediately following the test back in February, since then I have no doubts Sonic Team have been hard at work and will deliver a polished game on current gen when it releases.

I didn't trust the Sonic Team until recently. The reason is simple, it's now another studio with new leadership at Sega, more budget, more polish, more beta tests (not such things with TSR), more skilled developers. Ex Sega Rosso (Sega Rally/Star Wars Racers/Initial D) veterans joined the Sonic Team to deliver something special...

Initial D team will deliver as always.

The Sonic Racing game already keeps losing my interest because it's not Sonic & SEGA All Stars Cross Worlds. Feels like a step backward to not do what they already had in a previous game, and was awesome. The Samba De Amigo track is still one of my favorites.

Sonic would be great if they finally ditch the karts, the karts dont even look like something from a sonic game.

Not even question for me…….Mario Kart World all way. Both from visuals and gameplay.

I am in no man's land as I want neither. Mario Kart has some of the worst handling and most obnoxious items in modern kart racing and Sonic is too basic to capture my interest. I love Sega characters and tracks that have nothing to do with Sonic so seeing only ones that do is underwhelming. It will likely handle well but given what it is bringing to the table I would rather play Sega All-Stars Racing or Transformed.

2025 Sega is extremely consistent because of top tiers arcade teams joining Sega console Studios (even Shadow Gen is the best 3D Sonic ever made), all Sega Racing were good (not decent) and this time the S-Tiers Initial D Team is handling Sonic Cross Worlds:

Don't forget that the Initial D Team is famous in arcade for making deluxe arcade racers and polishing them after beta tests...

Yup, as always with the Initial D Gods, the beta has nothing to do with final product.(famous for listening feedbacks)
Sonic Cross Worlds beta was already fun (only the items were really problematic but easy to fix. )

Trust the Initial D Team Gods, Sonic Cross Worlds won't be "decent". 😎

I actually preferred Sonic Team Racing to Mario Kart 8 so I doubt anything will change this time around. STR felt more about skill whereas Mario Kart 8 feels like Call of Duty where they bubble wrap players who are behind and give them all kinds of boosts. It's simply not fun being in first place and blasted nonstop by lightnings, blue shells, having ink splashed on your screen. Meanwhile, you hang back and then you get all kinds of excellent items. There's way too much of a focus on handholding in Mario Kart. If I'm really racing well, I SHOULD be away ahead of the pack. There shouldn't be items I simply can't avoid getting hit by unless I have a specific other item aka blue shell and the horn to block it.

SEGA explained that the cars are there basically to allow fair play between Sonic and the rest, they originally had Sonic without a car in the first game and decided to ditch it because Sonic himself is way faster than the cars so they gave him a car to leverage

I want a crazy sequel to PS1 Crash Team Racing. It felt like a V8 high octane Lamborghini next to Volkswagen Mario Kart 64. Such a better sense of speed that it made it impossible to play MK after a session of CRT.

Has a Switch 2 version pf CrossWorlds been announced yet? The trailers look legitimately great, but there's no way I'm getting it on the Switch 2 since Sega has showed zero interest in supporting Switch 2 editions or any kind of upgrade path and I'm not going to buy this game twice.

Huh? I'm surprised at the positive impressions of CrossWorld from the demo (I haven't played it yet) because the physics looks so different to me from All-Stars/Transformed. It has that flat, old-school 2D arcade physics feel where it just seems like the car is tracked into the road and/or air course, rather than physically driving on street and taking to the air. Drifting feels like it's just on a center-mass pivot point (like there's a ball underneath the car that it's twisting on) and it goes in and out of drift in an animation, rather than physically sliding and then catching/boosting in a turn. Also the courses are way more boxed in and narrow with more rails, whereas Transformed would have open spaces funneling into railed stretches to feel have more variety and room to drive. (Even the water sections in CrossWorld has guiderails to pen you into the course.)

Maybe that's more fun to some gamers, maybe the Sumo driving model was too "realistic" for a game about a hedgehog driving a transforming sportscar, maybe an arcade feel is what works for Sonic, but the approach to drive feel seems like a a big change away from what this series used to be, and IMO it's a step back.

I Didnt care when they said it a decade ago and i dont care now, seen it done in multiple fan games and official sonic games just make him run at car speed

Sega characters are confirmed.

The summer game fest gave Sonic Crossworlds a huge highlight...

I think it will sale much better than Team Sonic Racing.

Sonic is litteraly the face of the Summer Game Fest on X ✌🏾

Mario has a reputation with kart racing, sonic, Diddy Kong, he'll even sackboy tried kart racing, crash too and they were all regular in comparison and with respect to those kart racing games they're a crime compared to MARIO KART.

Sonic Transformed and Crash Team were the peak of their time...

and please don't mislead the new generation! As if Nintendo created a genre 😆:

4 years before Super Mario Kart, Yu Suzuki already produced Fun Kart Racer with cross overs like Hang On, After Burner.

Nintendo just ripped off Power Drift, put some power ups (no, Nintendo didn't invent power ups either) and removed the amazing roller coaster tracks for ugly flat roads.

Come back to reality, son 😜

Come back to reality, son 😜

Nobody said they created the genre, they defined it.
Also, we all know Mariokart is the better game, i'm happy for the Sonic team if they have succes with this game but acting like they somehow are gonna compete with Mariokart is just laughable.

Ps. Your statement about Sonic transformed and Crash team racing, i don't know on which planet or alternate reality this was the case or are these one of Trump's alternative facts.

This footage looks awesome of Mario Kart World in HDR. But I will be gettting both games and enjoying them.

Dude... the Nintendogs are always spreading bullshit, it's famous. 😜

They first say Nintendo invented everything and when they learn the truth, they changed their words (blabla they "define").

And your " Trump bullshit" proves that you're naive. 🤪

Republicans AND democrats are often pathetic liars. (the previous president wasn't able to run the country, democrats knew it and lied for years...
They're all liars. Even my beloved Sega 🥳

Yup, MK looks cool but probably won't buy a Switch before a long time.

Apotos was a bit washed out but Dragon Road looks awesome.
