Shrinnan said:From the classic levels, it looks as if they brought back the physics of the classic games rather than do a half-completed job like Sonic 4.
Shrinnan said:Something else to consider: if the classic Sonic levels are really good, then maybe we will get classic HD 3D remakes of the original Sonic games...?
Must play both to unlock final act thoughPhantomOfTheKnight said:
It's Rush 3, only with less emphasis on BOOST BOOST BOOST and more on enjoying the Wisps and finding the different routes through the levels.Zen said:Was Colors DS that good?

It's not a new concept for them though. All the 3D games did it except for Colors, Secret RingsPsychoRaven said:Very interesting. Could it be that Sega has finally listened to the fans?
Aesthetics is only a superficial part of what fans have been asking for. The real meat and potatoes lies in the level design, gameplay, and physics. I don't know if we can really judge that yet based on the trailer.KingJ2002 said:after seeing the trailer... 2 things:
1. OMG... ME WANT. ME WANT NOW!
2. How can anyone possibly complain about this... isnt this what we've been asking for a decade? what people have went out of their way to create THEMSELVES???
i just can't imagine anyone complaining.

I think they just end up reshuffling the team whenever they need to.Mama Robotnik said:(Or are they one and the same?)

It's all one big mish-mash that is Sonic Team, really. Comparing credits between games suggests that the Riders/spinoff oversight team is reasonably constant with regards to staff, but for the platformers, people bounce back and forth from game to game with no readily apparent structure.Mama Robotnik said:Oh dear. Take Unleashed HD, remove the Werehog, put in Classic Sonic, and there you have Sonic Generations. See, wasn't that easy?Mama Robotnik said:Really? How on earth did they transcend from Rings/Black Knight misery up to Colours quality?
If that level of improvement is possible, then its possible for the Unleashed team to make a good game after all I suppose.
Gagaman said:Btw Mama Robotnik HAS to be negative about this game. Her son has been trying to kill him for 20 years, why would she like it?![]()
I guess that's good, as long as they're cutting the gimmicks and focusing on the good aspects of Unleashed.PhantomOfTheKnight said:The Unleashed Sonic Team.
Secret Rings would have been great if they hadn't opted for a totally retarded control scheme then gimped you at the start, forcing you to level up basic abilities like your turn sensitivity and jump. Remove those stumbling blocks and it's a pretty respectable game imo.Mama Robotnik said:Really? How on earth did they transcend from Rings/Black Knight misery up to Colours quality?
The last thing Sonic needs is to rely on the past to keep him relevant. I mean, look at Sonic 4. Didn't help much even though it was supposed to be inspired by the classics. The Lamonster said:Can't we just get an HD remake of Sonic 3 & Knuckles?

My god! I was expecting it to be good after Sonic colors, but....holy shit!!!
Also, any Sonic Cycle poster need to go play Colors, then shut the fuck up.
However, WHY DOES SONIC 4 EXIST WHEN THEY CAN MAKE CLASSIC SONIC LOOK LIKE THIS?!! WHY?!!! I mean, my god, this even makes that Sonic 2 fan project look like shit. Even the classic physics are back!
Oh, and BTW, the writing team that did such a good job on Colors story is back again.
Dear lord. This isn't just my game of the year, it could be the game of my life!
hitting each checkpoint throws up a split time, telling the player how far down they are on their personal best time. Expect full online leaderboard functionality come the finished article.

We should be happy that Sega's willing to move into new territories while keeping aspects of earlier games. Remaking is pointless when things have the potential to move forward.
If you played Sonic 4, youre aware that Segas previous attempt to emulate Genesis controls was floaty and awkward. You can throw out those concerns. Aside from a hot-buttoned spindash, classic Sonic controls just like you remember. Leaping across platforms feels tight, and the sense of inertia is spot-on. After multiple playthroughs of the brief level, I looked down at the modern controller in my hand and was surprised not to see a Genesis pad.
But... we have no idea if the physics are better yet...Zen said:Well Sonic 4 is Sonic 4, and a merger of Old School and new style Sonic locked into a 2D perspective, this is literally classic and modern Sonic with 2 separate game modes (+it's an anniversary game).
But the Sonic 4 team must really be feeling the heat with Sonic generations coming out. Maybe they can ape the physics programing straight from the generations team .

Sonic 4 was inspired by the classics only in a superficial way. What Sonic needed was a return to the gameplay that made him a star, but instead we got Sonic Rush without boost and some levels that looked like rehashes of classic stages with none of the charm.Rash said:The last thing Sonic needs is to rely on the past to keep him relevant.
