Sonic Lost World Wii U Exclusive

Wait, does this disprove that earlier Sonic rumor that mentioned the X-Box Infinity?

Because it seems unlikely that Sega'd be making a Wii-U exclusive Sonic AND another all-console Sonic that the Wii-U's getting too.

That was a made up rumor by Bendillin to show the folly of modern day game journalism a couple of small Nintendo and SEGA fan blogs.

So salty.

"We don't want a Wii-U, so we're sad Nintendo is getting 3 Sonic games we would buy otherwise."

I used to think software sold hardware

it's always funny when a nintendo console goes from "you don't have games" to "you don't deserve to have certain games".
the cycle continues.

It actually isn't awesome because the controls are purposely gimped for an obtuse level-up system, the levels are linear on-rails bullshit which share only a superficial resemblance to what Colors/Generations would do and it came out around the same time as Sonic '06 which just about anything would look half-way good compared to THAT.

Pretty much, meaning they had something to polish for it to work in Unleashed, Colours etc.

Fine, Secret Rings was not "awesome", but it lead to awesome stuff.

Eh, I'm probably just a tad grouchy since I bought it during a time when my money was tight (was still in highschool), needed stuff to pad my Wii library until Galaxy came out and really didn't feel it was up to snuff, even while knowing how much of a disaster S'06 had turned out to be during the same period. Sorry!

something something "hopetheyliterallyfuckingdie" something something

No. Wii was cheap and actually had some games that people wanted, I guess. Also, Dolphin.

Games like... exclusive Sonic titles? (Apparently...?)

I glanced over this news before because I didn't think anyone cared. We had a similar thing happen on the Wii, even early in its lifespan (Secret Rings). But even regardless of that... it's not like Sonic games are often terribly good, doesn't seem like a particular loss or gain for much of anyone. (I'd imagine most Sonic fans have an interest in Nintendo anyway.)

The reaction is a lot more negative than I expected. (I guess because it's related to Nintendo...? Seems to bring out the worst in GAF, and the gaming community in general...)

And if there's one game series that should never have Nintendo exclusivity, it's Sonic. I mean it's not like

Wii owners really took one for the team on that last one

Not really, those Nintendo Sonic's sucked ass. Every single one of them.

One of these games is not like the others.
Let's be real here, Lost World will probably be to this trio what Colors was to Secret Rings and Black Knight.

And as mediocre as Secret Rings was it was far and away the superior game to 06 which PS3/360 owners were blessed with.

As long as its like unleashed daytime, colors, and generations, I'm perfectly OK with it. Just don't go over board with his "friends" Sega.

I'd play Sonic 2006 over Secret Rings any day. Even that gosh awful billiards segment that I refused to do more than once.

but yeah, after Generations there really is no reason to be too overly skeptical of this title. Also Phantasy Star Online 2.
You could be if Dimps were working on it, though.

Just signed the petition, lol. This is equally funny and sad. Sega is totally going to drop the partnership.

Funny enough, it flips back and forth as the situation demands, and when it gets to not deserving certain games, people work tirelessly to downplay and undermine the relevance of those games. The fact that there's no logic to it is irrelevant.

... why?

LOL

"I hate WiiU, it has no games I want!"
"Here are three games you want!"
"I hate WiiU, it has three games I want!"

It has one game that I want. Should I drop $400+ to get one?

Then why do people give a shit about this news?

Because of Colors and Generations (and Unleashed to some extent). SEGA redeemed themselves in the eyes of many fans. It has a chance of being a good game.

But is on a platform that a lot of people don't own.

Ok I'm the only one reading the thread title as "Sonic lost world Wii U exclusive" and not "Sonic lost world, Wii U Exclusive"? it made reading the thread kind of hilarious.

Bayonetta 2 all over.

Exactly. There's a few Wii U games I do want at the moment. Mostly stuff from Sega and Platinum. It's just funny with Nintendo consoles. With Sony or Microsoft, you at least have the sense of comfort that most big third parties will be coming your way to tide you over. With the Wii U, I honestly don't know if getting a console for a few games would be worth it in the long run.

Oh who am I kidding? I'll buy for Smash Brothers and eat my words.

Then why do people give a shit about this news?

Sonic crashed pretty hard when they stopped being a one-platform console developer. Most of their titles were hitting like 20-60 on metacritic. The games were total shit and they began churning out titles just to cash in on the IP. Then they experimented with Sonic Colors and we found out they could actually make a good game and it would be reflected in the sales of the title. Next thing you know, they're trying to bury their past. All of those churned out, horrible games put of print and pulled from stores. They began trying to repair the brand. Sonic Generations came out a bit later and it was even bigger and better than Colors. It had problems but hidden behind those was a lot of possibilities for the franchise. Then we had Sonic Kart come out last year which people claim is the second-coming of Kart racing, "the best Kart racer ever". Their quality has been going way up. A lot of people were looking forward to what they were going to do next. Many thought they'd try to make Sonic Adventure 3 and pick up where the franchise left off quality-wise.

Holy shit this needs a dramatic reading!
Turning Sonic into a Nintendo exclusive franchise is a serious slap in the face. With Sonic (2006) we got a glimpse of a hopeful future for our beloved childhood friend in a gaming world full of rich textures and high polygon models, and with Sonic Generations, SEGA made a statement to the entire gaming world that no fan who grew up supporting their company and even starting schoolyard fights over their beloved blue versus that fat red plumber. When I have my kids hopefully over the next 10 years, their first games will be whatever modern port of the classic genesis games were so they learn the majesty of what SEGA was, and how simple it is to make someone happy by acknowledging simple genius mechanics, like the addition of the spin dash or the effect shields. As for the arguments that Sonic belonged on Nintendo for their port of Sonic Adventure, I proudly point out the availability of these games on Xbox LIVE made my 360 purchase well worth the cost of the console just to play those nostalgic titles from my youth. Although not historically recognized by the wide gaming community as a good game, Sonic (2006) was a beautiful gift from the SEGA Corp. showing the resilience and spirit all of us who were faithful to our favorite hero, and with critics aside, presented a rich world of beautiful texture and depth no Sonic game a the time had the technical ability to produce. And with Sonic Generations, fans of all ages, newcomers discovering our lightspeed hero for the first time and veterans of the ever escalating war with egghead were given a hearty reminder of why we fell in love with this cocky cobalt Erinaceinae, many of us from his start in '91 and shown SEGA hadn't forgotten us by making it available to the entire world through whatever console we prefer to have. Nintendo has a proven track record of being behind the power curve and catering only to the younger audience, being a child's company and for the most part ignoring a major portion of gaming revenue from the original soldiers of NES vs Genesis wars. Playstation and Xbox owners love their consoles, as do PC gamers love their rigs, and all of them view the WiiU as inferior. it's market caters to the young and naïve, whereas the other three major settings continue pushing their hard and software to the graphical limits, mass marketing to all age groups with everything from Call of Duty and Assassins Creed for the mature audiences to The Avengers and Sonic... oh wait, I forgot about how SEGA is making plans to deny 3/4 of the market from continuing the adventures of our hyper active insectivore. I'm not buying a WiiU just to pay another $180 for my childhood hero. Instead, I humbly request you not allow the bastard plumber to triumph over his only real competitor through eternity and continue with the same spirit of loyalty to your fans and supporters that was showcased in Sonic Generations. Encompass that magic to continue producing worthwhile tales of adventure with essence of speed and allow the world to hear your battlecry: SEGA does what Nintendon't.

Though no longer producing hardware, the bastard plumber must never dethrone our champion!

You haven't even seen any gameplay, how do you know you want it? (Might as well say two games since there's another Sonic in this deal we don't know about either.)

Because of Colors and Generations (and Unleashed to some extent). SEGA redeemed themselves in the eyes of many fans. It has a chance of being a good game.

You just said Colors "sucked ass".

And this is the same Sega that pushed out Sonic 4 Ep 2 last year. I still wouldn't put too much confidence in their abilities until we see more of Lost World. No need to get too excited or upset just yet, and this is coming from a Wii U owner.

But is on a platform that a lot of people don't own.

I get that. So either buy the console, wait until a price drop, or wait until there's enough content that you feel justifies the cost. It's what I did with 360/PS3, and what I'm going to do with Nextbox/PS4.

I don't know what people expect Nintendo to do, not get games people want? How else are they supposed to sell the Wii U? "I don't own or want to own a Wii U. So they better not do anything to make me want a Wii U." It's like the conclusion is being made first, and the rationale follows it...
