Sonic Origins arrives June 23rd, 2022!

Did they forgot to tell those "twists" are not in the base game? Or did they do that on purpose?

Feels bad to look at how bad they treat my old classics favorite. To think even the classic mode won't have any visual or screen update, it has to be Iizuka behind this stupidity.

Still baffles me how stupid they are to present classic mode in that crappy way. They are desperate for people play their anniversary mode.

All these years later, we finally get a chance to replay these in a widescreen/remastered format, only to have them shoehorn their own mode into it. At least give players the choice as to whether or not they want infinite lives.

Wait, why are they locking aspect ratio into modes?

I can't play the classic mode at 16:9? This is absurd... lol

LTTP here...are they charging extra for main menu animations, or was that image something that is making fun of Sega's pricing decisions?

Yes. Its not a "fun move" , its just Sega being Sega. All modes besides the classic and anniversary are locked, not even the deluxe edition comes with everything.

Why would you not make the classic modes be 16:9 or at least give people the option? Do you guys think they'll patch this after people complain?

Can't say, but just to lock an aspect ratio behind some mode is insane. This should be a video option, now forcing people to play the easy mode to get 16:9?

Honestly I'm not sure, I'm questioning the reception myself. People seems to be... pretty fine with this, even though most of the functions people are praising (like hard or mirror mode) are locked behind a paywall.

Its worth menion that, even though it doesn't bothers me since I like that change, Sonic 3 will come with a reworked music for 3 stages of MJ musics(the ones that keep them in trouple for releasing this game), using S3 prototype as base. Some fans before this announcement claimed that the game would have 100% the original musics, but with nothing to back up that claim since there weren't any official announcements at that time. But now all the sudden they're ok with this change? Very strange.

Has anyone watched the video above? The DLC actually seems to be "don't play the game" type, all of that stuff in the "DLC" is unlockable by playing the game and earning coins to buy them from the museum. The DLC seems to be unlocking the museum stuff right off the bat.

Huh? They're selling a "Classic Music" DLC. That's why people were saying it'd have the MJ music in it.

It's petty bullshit trying to funnel people into playing "your version" of the game. Desperate to ride on the coattails of past success. It screams of desperation and lack of confidence in their own work.

I'd rather use a Genesis than reward this laughable behavior.

Christian Bale Wtf GIF

After thinking this over I'm going to pass on this. I've got Sonic 1, 2, and 3&K already in the Steam Genesis collection (got for free) with the original music and everything intact, so I think I'm good.

Check out the first 18 minutes of Sonic Origins gameplay. This is Sonic Origins PS5 gameplay and we've captured a bit of each game including the new cinematics.

We decided to collect a short piece from each game including Sonic 1 gameplay, Sonic 2 Gameplay, Sonic & Knuckles gameplay, and Sonic CD gameplay into one video. Each title in the Sonic Origins gameplay has been remastered for release. For Sonic 1 gameplay we focus on the first few levels of the game collecting the new Sonic Origins Cinematics for this one, and each game shown in the collection. Sonic Origins Sonic 2 gameplay is the same. Sonic Origins Sonic 3 gameplay or Sonic & Knuckles gameplay features through the first boss. Finally, Sonic Origins Sonic CD gameplay includes the new cinematics and the original intro sequence of Sonic CD including the audio track that was previously unavailable in some versions of the game. This Sonic Origins gameplay collection is a great compilation of all the sonic games.

Now that several months have gone by what is the current state of the game? Have the bugs been fixed? Did they ever make any changes to the music? Have any notable mods been released?

I think some say the bugs are fixed, not sure. Most of recent Steam reviwers said that the game still a mess, and its actually easy to believe because its a Sonic Team doing.

They only released one patch and pretty much ignored it since, there's still a lot broken in these versions which is a real shame.
