I love that he sneaks up on a guy, then kills him with a backflip of all things.

Top that, Fisher

fake-edit: also he kills a guard like, ten feet in front of another guard clearly lookin at them in a brightly lit room. STEALTH

it looks like a bad version of Vampire: Bloodlines, but won't have any of the great writing or BELIEVABLE EYES that convince you the NPCs are actually looking at you

Penders winning the suit probably isn't a good thing, in all honesty... Since that bars Archie from using all those characters, doesn't it?

Apparently Penders didn't win.

Or lose.

And neither did Archie.

As far as I understand what happened, the Judge got sick of the case and dismissed it without awarding either side anything. Archie and Penders then apparently settled outside of court.

What the settlement terms were are the big mystery.

Started up a Chrono Trigger playthrough on Sunday, and I've already gotten to 12,000 B.C. That's the thing I love about CT: There's no "When do I get to the good part?"

The entire fucking game is the good part, son

Edit: Huh, meant to post this in the SNES thread. Oh well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't even know, I give up. You win Toriyama. You won. You have defeated me. I cannot bear. I cannot be positive.

Speaking of this, I'm kind of going through Trails in the Sky right now, and my god, I have never played a game with slower pacing than this.

If I wasn't so goddamned sure this was building to somehting great I wouldn't be able to take it. I don't thin the slow pace is bad per se, it's trying to do something , I can see that. It's just I have never played a game with pacing so slow.

I mean shit, things happen, but they take foreeeveeerr.

Yeah, I don't mind deliberately slow pacing if it's being done to build up to something great, but when it's slow just for the sake of it and filler is thrown in because why not, then it's really awful.

...but what happens when it ends up being your fav. FF13 game thanks to its gameplay?

You did kinda convinced me to skip majority of cutscenes in FF13-2 in a future replay for the Platinum though~

Trail's pacing didn't bother me much simply cause it was constant, so I got used to the game taking it's time. Not quite the same as a game starting off at a blistering pace then suddenly "ZOINKS, we gotta get on this completely pointless and irrelevant ghost ship gang!"

Good job, guys. You broke Schala!
I'm fine now. Kind of.

*looks at the screenshot again, and then scrutinizes Hope again*

What the fuck is this? Toriyama this isn't "time stands still for everyone". What is wrong with you. Do you know what time travel is? Oh, you obviously don't because FF13-2's story is a colossal mess and its concept of time travel didn't make sense! It was so boring to play. And now I think LR's going to make even less sense. Because what the flip at Hope!

I... I...

Why is it every time this game comes up, it has a tendency to piss me off? Remember the last time this happened? It's not necessarily that the game looks bad (even though it does), but it looks so boring. Gawd.

At least Seven Force knows what's up and is playing a game that's good and does time travel right. And it's one of the best versions of ATB around. >:V

Not when the gameplay in the E3 demo looks exactly what I expected in terms of looking like one-note semi-auto/semi-passive nonsense. It still looks like everything I disliked about the first trailer for this game. No freaking thank you.

FF13-2's platinum isn't even hard and you can do it on a single playthrough. That's what I did, and it was the majority of people's first platinums in that game's OT from what I remember. It's just the casino trophy and fragment that was complete bullshit.

Schala don't kid yourself.
You were always going to play through this game anyway.
Not when it comes out! Nope. No way. Unless someone gives it to me as a gift because they presumably would want to see me suffer, I dunno.

The first Trails in the Sky game is probably the worst one out of the trilogy I've played. Even when I played it for the first time, I had to restart it because I felt kinda bored and put it down for a while. But it's best to keep moving in Trails games. I found it boring for the same reasons you did, and I didn't get super-interested in it until towards the end. I mean, I don't mind the setting and atmosphere because that's the sort of thing that Suikoden has, but the pacing didn't rope me in like it did everyone else. That's why I usually hesitate to say what I think about the first Trails game. I don't like it as much as GAF does, and I wish SC and 3rd would come out here just so people could experience better games. Even Zero has better pacing than FC.

The second one is much better in terms of pacing than the first, and more shit happens. You realize things are at stake because the first game ended up telling you that. Plus you have Suikoden-esque geographical and political references thrown about the place, some of which you won't fully realize until you play 3rd, Zero, and presumably Ao.

The 3rd is my favourite out of the Sora no Kiseki games, and it's the game that finally clicked with me in terms of being a "oh, so this is why people love these games!" sort of thing. But it's so remarkably different from FC and SC, because of where it takes place, what it does, and its emphasis on characterization. Doing the sidequests in 3rd completely matters, and I've learned so much about the characters from the past two games while doing so. It acts as an excellent bridge game between Sora and Zero that I'd hate to see it not localized here since some of the stuff that comes into play in 3rd kind of sticks around in Zero (and Ao, I think). I'd written a set of impressions for 3rd in a PM to someone else before, but since it involves some spoiler content, I'm not sure if I should post it in here. But the soundtrack is just excellent, as I'd written in the past. It's my favourite soundtrack of the the three Sora games. FC is meh, SC is alright, and 3rd is SO good.

While AC2 was my LTTP GotY in 2012, since I finished 3rd in January, I guess that'd make it my LTTP GotY 2013. It was that good. Asura's Wrath is my 2013 "2012 GotY", and I'll make sure to write that down right now.

Shoot, even Nayuta felt like a better-paced Trails game, and it wasn't even a Trails game. It was a nice hybrid of Ys and Trails, and its platforming was so fun. :)

My God the latest Ambition episode (13 as of writing) seriously makes up for everything holy shit

At least Seven Force knows what's up and is playing a game that's good and does time travel right. And it's one of the best versions of ATB around. >:V
And it's associated with a better Toriyama.

What I love about that gif up there is that i'm constantly hearing Grime's unique scream in my head, I guess I should be thankful that I can't truly grasp what everyone is so horrified about.

So anyway random game musings just because.
After slogging through NG3 Razor's Edge last month (yeah I did finish it in the end) I remembered the final piece of the modern Ninja Gaiden puzzle had also been lent to me alongside it, that being Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword (geddit? DS! this sort of naming was indeed a thing).
I'm 6 chapters in and i'm already dropping this game, it's not like offensively bad or anything but an entirely stylus controlled Ninja Gaiden is about as enthralling as it sounds.
You basically seem to jump around the various areas seen in NG Black now in pre rendered form, the same enemies turn up but now your powers of attacking are greatly limited with just the dragon sword and of course touch only controls. Props to them for managing to insert the Izuna drop at least but it's like the one single combo move in town, everything else is basically swiping the stylus like your writing a particularly angry illegible letter as fast as possible, enemy waves never felt so tedious, the real challenge comes from bothering to stay focused in the repetitive combat and fighting against the real enemy, the criss crossing controls. To perform an ultimate technique you have to rapidly swipe the stylus back and forth to begin charging yet doing this anywhere near Ryu will likely end up with him flipping off into the air flailing his sword which still ends up as pretty effective so at least you don't really get punished but I guess that says quite a lot about how the combat is handled here in general, it's not button mash, it's stylus swish or something.
There's nothing much else to say about this really, I can't even be arsed to stick around the whopping 5 hours needed to beat it, but hey the novelty of holding the DS in book form is something right?...nah.

So I had to quickly jump into Rising for a bit to appease the man within me who currently just wants to cut people to ribbons (err, that sounds a lot more psychotic than I meant it to), though this did start with me getting whupped on the prologue of very hard but then I got back into the swing of things and fun slashing times were had, you know I wouldn't mind Platinum revisiting this series at some point, its fun yet flawed so a sequel with more time in the oven to fix the issues could be a real treat.

Uh, no, of course not. This was apparent in T3B. He has no idea what time travel is like or what kind of relationship sisters have.

Then assuming the gameplay is revamped/fixed/changed/altered in such a way that you like it, would you find more appealing to you?

What's this plot fuckup Toriyama is using anyway? I'm just gonna lump it as 'reality alteration' for sanity's sake.

I ama ware of that but my brother took the game with him to UK early last year and HE GOT back some weeks ago and I don't feel like continuing my save. Besides now that there are FAQs and what have you, I can craft the perfect teams and paradigms to make the playthrough more easier to Platinum~

Help me out here please
How many hits (on average) does it take to defeat a boss in Sonic 1, 2 & 3&K, excluding final bosses? Is it 8 hits?

It's pretty much always 8 - even for final bosses. (Maybe not the big Eggman mecha at the end of Sonic 2 - I think that one was more like 10 or 12.)
