It's so weird reading that Facebook Meltdown thread with tons of Right-wing people moaning about how they want to move to Canada.

Like. Do you know anything about Canada? Obama would be partially right of centre (or centre depending on your views) here! And we have a bunch of those "socialist" policies that they seem to go nuts over. :lol

Heck, our "Obama" in the last federal election was really left-wing. I would've voted for him if he were running in my riding. 'Cept my riding's been conservative for quite some time now.

Seriously, Ocean Base's music is awesome and was it me or or was it so dramatic sounding? Not that it's a problem but it's something I've noticed when I first heard it. I guess that's part of the charm of the stage!

EDIT: 2 more people voted early this morning it seems. Sunset Hill just beat Cyber Track.
Ocean Base is incredible, truly a masterpiece.

It ain't seein Cyber Track doe.

Sunset Hill is so boring though. Cyber Track is really a unique looking level but Sunset Hill? If I want to play Green Hill, I'll go with the original.

QQ, if you do use Sunset Hill, make it like that one sunset level in DKCR.

I'd like to say that not every winning level will guarantee a slot in the roster. Most will, but not all depending on the levels that are picked. Sunset Hill for an example is way too uninteresting as a Advance 3 rep.

One thing I can guarantee though is that any winner/runner-up level that doesn't make it to the main roster will still be in the game in any shape or form. There's billions of ways I could do this such as boss fights and missions.

Yeah, I thought it was weird that Sunset Hill came up as first, but this...

QQ, if you do use Sunset Hill, make it like that one sunset level in DKCR.
...would be at least an interesting spin on it, I guess, if you had to put it in. I wouldn't.

Anyway, all of you people who voted Blue Marine Zone are strange people.

A comment on Game Grumps' latest Super Mario Land 2 episode (Part 4):

Alright its like this: Your Sonic and you have to run around until you find a bathroom. The trick is that you are timed each stage and if you don't get to the bathroom fast enough, you shit your pants. Its called Heinous Anus Zone :3
...I would actually like to play this

...Egg Rocket just took a huge jump in the survey. It has 12 votes now.

EDIT: SDFGJKDSGK Major tie breaker going on in Sonic Rush. Huge Crisis hardly had any votes before but it is now tied with 3 other stages. What a crazy difference it makes when different communities vote.

I just got around to posting it in IRC, so that's probably it.

Definitely. I suddenly had 6 submissions.

People REALLY love Music Plant and Sunset Park though. I can easily say that!

EDIT: Sky Babylon just beat Coral Cave and is now tied with Haunted Ship. Was that level any good? I barely played much of the game.

EDIT2: Chaos Angel is now winning. Sunset Hill is 2nd and Cyber Track is 3rd.

People voting for Egg Rocket is nice. Probably one of the more inspired levels from the Advance games from a design standpoint.

We all know what the best part of Sunset Park is.

When I was little, I thought this act was hard as hell for some reason, haha. Getting to the next Zone felt like a triumph.

Don't know why, but as a kid, I always thought the straight transition into the boss act without any zone title cards was cool as hell.

When I was a little kid, I couldn't beat the boss in Sunset Park. Like, I could do the (really long and dumb) stage leading up to it, but once I reached it it somehow slaughtered me and led to a game over.

...well, okay, it only took me a few tries thereafter to overcome him, but to this day the guy intimidates me despite being really easy. I'm weird.

It was Rush Adventure's Altitude Limit, but with better music and fewer cheap deaths. But still cheap laser deaths.

The Pirate Town needs to be winning, that was a cool level and it had pirates for crying out loud! Plus I thought the music there was the best, it seemed to fit really well.

It was actually winning during the first few votes. I'm really disappointed it isn't anymore. Haunted Ship is winning though... I guess that's close enough?

EDIT: Wait, it was never the winning stage (Pirates' Island). But it was the first one to be voted out of the other Rush Adventure stages.

Also sucks to hear Sky Babylon is another Altitude Limit/Sky Canyon.

It's because some people incorrectly voted for Blue Marine Zone in that poll.

they voted for this

Anyway, laughing at the last Obama Adventure 2 pics. That last one is amazing.

I dont know if i hate Blue Marine or Silver Castle more.
Sonic G starts off as just a bad Sonic game, but the last few zones are straight up the worst goddamn things in the entire series.

The thing that blows my mind about Blue Marine is that, if I remember right, you have to find and use a passage through a fake wall to continue. And it's not that obvious where to look for it, and you keep running this same stupid circuit over and over, often pushed into transport tubes you don't want to use...

...And all the while, you're stuck underwater, constantly trying to keep track of your air...

I think the only level that beats it in "Sonic Fan Phobia" terms is Sonic 4's obsession with crushing/killing walls, including an entire act of Mad Gear dedicated to it.

I find Sky Babylon better than those two, but I suppose that's not saying much.

Pirates' Island and Haunted Ship were pretty cool though

I see these portions of Obama Adventure 2 Battle havent been posted yet:

How are we discussing the worst levels and we haven't even brought up 06? An entire game of bad levels.

The hubs are terrible, the actual levels... it's like, what you have to do in them, and how the game handles it is terrible. If the goals were clearer (and in some cases less moronic, like item hunting with no radar, or pushing suicidal balls down trap-laden hallways), and the mechanics were better, they wouldn't exactly be bad levels, for the most part. Not even close to Generations tier, but not completely awful. Even the high speed parts, which suck so badly because the controls are a nightmare and the deaths are unfair.

Aquatic Base would still be awful, though.

Alright, so I'm playing Emerald Ties (qq more's game) and here are my thoughts on it so far. (About to play the first snow area)

Music is pretty decent, I'm actually a little surprised for a fangame. Perhaps I shouldn't take fangames lightly from now on?
Nice sprite work, appealing animations.
The physics are a little heavy on your initial startup, it's not Sonic 4, but it does make your movements kinda sluggish in a way. Nothing horrible or anything, it's perfectly playable.
Great spinball mechanic, I think this is executed perfectly.
Coming out of water has the right gravity when popping out, and it was nice to see.

Fire shield works well, it goes in a straight line unlike Sonic 3 which causes you to fall, but still nice.
Sonic in a way plays kinda like SMB3 Mario (Not exactly, but I'm using the control as a reference) I think it should be a little more loose like SMW, but decent enough. I guess what I'm saying is more control after you jump in a direction. Like, let's say you hold right direction and jump, but suddenly you want to land on a platform and hold left, Sonic's direction on his initial jump has more control over the handling once you jump, so it's a little harder to get on platforms

Level design is kinda nice, it rewards your quick reactions and isn't cheap.
Loop-de-loops work perfect
Rain could be a little better on the third act, but it was nice to see!

Probably could use a different sound for the text-box chatting, not that I dislike NES sounds or anything. Just a softer tone maybe.
Bubble Shield works decently too.
Nice touch on the second area where you land on the platform and it makes a slight dip.
The spinning platforms (the ones where you do a 360 and then you jump) are fun

As for one solid complaint, at Act 3 of Relic Retreat, I ended up getting to a certain part where the lava starts rising and there are two floating platforms going up and right. I couldn't seem to jump high enough to make the platform on the left side. I didn't die at all until this level, but I lost all my lives trying to get past it. Oddly enough, when I started my file it put me in the snow area so I'm playing that now.

I probably didn't realize something, but yeah. However, I did like how that part of the level was S3-esque, and before that part I was having fun with the level.

Either way, I haven't played a lot of fangames, but this is my favorite one so far and I'll go work on beating the rest now.

Got my 3DS capture card the other day, so I thought I'd start recording the 3DS version of Generations. It's a complete playthrough so there'll be cutscenes, bosses, special stages n' whatnot. I'll have the rest of the game up later today, but for now here's the first 3 levels:

Green Hill

Casino Night

Mushroom Hill

Those cutscenes are hilariously cheap lol

I'm too stingy to spend my play coins on the missions, doesn't help that the ones I played were like "defeat 10 enemies", how exciting!
Side Tangent: Oh Assassins Creed 2, I can't even type "how exciting" without Leonardo Da Vinci's voice saying the sentence itself in my head

So back to Generations 3DS, I was actually playing it yesterday, you know in all honesty it kind of sucks. A piddly amount of stages, too many opening ones to boot, awful design in the Dreamcast Era and Modern Mushroom Hill, mediocre design everywhere else and outright copying Genesis/Mega Drive Stages for some reason.
And just because they really hate me they managed to put in the ruddy Egg Emperor in the modern era in which he does not belong, but they did it just for me! fortunately they actually improved upon it as well as the Biolizard, I guess the bosses weren't too bad at least.

New Sonic Unleashed Generations video! Arid Sands:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJt4_aLgZAs

For reference, the original level:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHlX-UrV-Os

I'm not so sure that level fits well in to Sonic Generations. The port looks great, and I love how more vibrant the colors are (the original Arid Sands is kind of a dull, washed out level in Unleashed), but I feel like the Sonic Unleashed level is one of the levels that has a tangible sense of being on the edge of losing control because you're going SO fast and interacting with a lot of stuff at the same time.

In the Generations engine, Sonic is noticeably slower and certain level interactions are... less frenetic. Which I'm sure some will really like, but as somebody who thinks Sonic Unleashed was at its best at that razor's edge of speed, it is not nearly as thrilling.

But again, probably not really a fault of the porting job itself. :p
