I disagree but I can see why some wouldn't like Casino levels. Although I'd never imagine anyone calling them boring, to be honest.

Ok, maybe not boring, but I don't know, they just weren't that memorable really.

Although I'd take more of those stages over the influx of city stages we seem to be getting nowadays. Generations had like 5 variations of a city.

So many different levels to choose from, and we get one damn city after another.

I mean, props for making a good version of Crisis City, but where the FUCK is Kingdom Valley!?

Every city in Generations was a completely different style of city, at least. Would've liked to see more diversity, but it could've been worse.

Wow, y'know, I honestly thought Advance 2's stages were, well, flatter than that. But nope, constantly going down like a cheap hooker.

The dark side of momentum-based physics is that crummy level designers with a speed fixation understand that downhill = goes fast, but little else. Small wonder that Rush just let you make your own speed.

Radical Train should have been the 06 stage and you all know it.
Both the Modern and Classic versions should've just been that one mach speed zone since it's the most memorable part of the stage.

Oh, so guys don't like that kind of stuff. Alright. *takes notes* (I couldn't resist, haha.)

But seriously, that isn't all there is to Sonic level design and it's a shame that they didn't catch onto that. I haven't looked at the Advance maps until now but it's fascinating that some of them are basically designed the same way. The Gotta Go Fast as Quick as Possible philosophy to the design was never all there was to Sonic. I think some of the stuff I loved about the Sonic Genesis games was trying to build up speed to curl up into a ball and then try to reach the highest path while hitting enemies for a higher air boost.

Well, at least something like Ocean Base in Advance 3 is kind of different... looks like a Mega Man stage.

Uh, wow. Holy shit at those maps.

Sonic Generations levels should have been Scrap Brain, Hill Top, Sandopolis, Hot Shelter, Crazy Gadget, Grand Metropolis, Aquatic Base, Cool Edge, and Asteroid Coaster

Guess which one of those I actually would have liked to see

Only 2006 can lay claim to gotta go Fast!

We need an entire game with those sections. I get such a rush out of them!

Don't you worry bout a thing spiny hedgehog...

Only Sonic 06 could cock up a train stage, I mean really that's impressive.

Uh, wow. Holy shit at those maps.

It explains why I never felt there was anything much memorable with the vast majority of handheld Sonic Stages, even Sonic 4 Episode 1 manages more identity in the stage design itself and that's while ripping off previous zones outright.

06's snow levels are pretty bad too by virtue of not being able to control the character properly at all.

If only I can find this one specific WOOOO gif, oh well.
The snow stages in Sonic 06 are supposed to control badly because it's like ice and it's slippery of course, jeez! /06 defender response.

Playing Sonic & The Black Knight right now finally. Haven't put too much time into it so far, but I can easily say this is a much better game than Secret Rings and 2006. It's kind of a wagglefest like most Wii games, and the sword fighting isn't too grand, but it's not a terrible experience.

Sonic has such personality in this one and it's kinda nice to see that, and the voice acting is pretty good too. I think I'm rather enjoying this story and that's why I continue to play, and the intro CG was pretty nice. I like the humor in this so far because it isn't over the top, it's more witty.

I'm intrigued now...

Kinda wish the boss music from Sonic 3D Blast was used more often, it's really catchy...but man the Sonic Mega Collection murders the sound for these games, no bueno!

How're you liking the Black Knight soundtrack so far, Koko?

why the fuck can you 100% the original Crash Bandicoot without beating Cortex
You can do that?

There's no ice under that snow!

Oh-ho-ho, I'm enjoying it a bit. This game makes up for not being amazing in the gameplay department with it's presentation for me.

Doesn't look too shabby in Dolphin.

If I didn't have so many games, I would try Sonic and the Black Knight out...but I must wait. That music is a fine start but then again, what Sonic doesn't have good music?

I love you guys even though we get into our little scraps every now and then.

Seriously, though--I started posting on GAF last year and it wasn't until I started posting in Sonic threads that I got comfortable posting my thoughts in threads on GAF. I was initially hesitant to post in the RPG threads because I felt like I knew very little and couldn't say everything I wanted to say in them at all, so I didn't post in them at all outside of a few OTs.

But for some reason I always felt comfortable in the Sonic threads. Guess it's because everyone was relaxed and never took a lot of stuff seriously so we ended up joking around a lot.

So thanks. I sincerely mean it.

Shut yo faaaaaaace.

Sonic's shoes got snow on them which turned into ice because of reasons.
But he was on a snowboard?

Yeah, that's the thing about Black Knight. It plays weird, but the CG and the music is really impressive. But I guess that's to be expected from a Sonic game from that point in time.

Just kidding kidding, I can't hate you guys ☺☻

EDIT: Yeah, I'm gonna be serious. This is surprisingly my favorite sub community of GAF. You guys are awesome even if we disagree with each other so much, but we're typically civil... I think.

But he was on a snowboard?
Well you've just got an answer for everything, well like any good imitator of a Sonic 06 defender i'm not licked yet, fortunately i've saved the ultimate trump card for last...
"the controls are fantastic you must just be bad at the Sonic and are now unjustly attacking this great game because the level design is too clever for you"
And if it goes any further it delves into insults and attacks on your character, it's really quite compelling and convincing, you can't win because my fingers are now planted firmly in my ears or more accurately they were always there.
It should also have more typos but simply typing the Sonic was too much for me.

'cept sonic4kiddo, yeah, you guys are aight. I wish we had a new Sonic game to talk about
We should all replay Sonic Blast and talk about that.
Has anyone here actually made it past Blue Marine Zone?

I'll let you know when I replay it.

Which one of these bloody collections has the Game Gear games? Or will I have to just go buy a Game Gear and the games myself?

Alternatively the revolutionary graphical powerhouse Sonic Blast is available as a download on 3DS but only in glorious PAL Land if i'm not mistaken, sure the rest of you guys can have Fire Emblem Awakening 2 months earlier but well i've had (the opportunity to have) Sonic Blast for like half a year which is clearly the better deal, revel in envy.
