let me guess, Sony thought this was going to be a blockbuster hit so they manufactured a million copies. Now most of them will end up in the landfill next to ET for Atari 2600.

It's going to be dead within a year.

I mean to work on a project for 8 years and see the negative reception to it on this scale must be devastating for the development team.

I try to be optimistic but even getting any sliver of a sense of that for this game is a fucking tall order.

I normally feel bad for some devs but every once in awhile you get a story like this and I personally want these types to fail

Only thing I've seen about Concord that is actually pretty good is the character select screen has pretty good animations and lip synching. The models themselves are cringey, but the techinically aspects are actually solid. I dont think there's too many shooters where that screen is that polished.

As for 8 years dev time, thats the nature of gaming. All or nothing with big budgets and tons of time. In 8 years you could had gone from SNES to Dreamcast, and a game company during that time could had made 3 or 4 games for a franchise across 16, 32, 128 bit eras. 8 years is also basically the entire 360/PS3 era.

Technically it's nice. I found the dialogue so bad and cringe in this game, I legitimately couldn't watch it for more than a couple of minutes.

Holy shit, what?! 😱

Fuck its hard to keep up with news these days. I had no idea. Now I'm keen to see what else is going on behind the scenes. Makes sense now why this game is viewed in such a negative light.

Yup. It was talked about maybe a month ago in some other Concord thread at the time. Firewalk sounds like a disaster to work at when you got one of those libtards trying to control the ship. It's amazing how media companies have so many weird people working there. You'll get your share of lazy or brown-nosers at typical corporate head offices at fortune 500 companies. But the chances of one of those political and egotistical media types trying to boss around people at a bank HQ is zero.

As well, in typical fashion, this studio ignored the feedback they were given prior to release. I could be way off, but it's like their 'vision' is more important than what customers want or are interested in - and that's another reason why I don't feel much sympathy for them. They had time to improve or change aspects that weren't resonating with customers and they did fuck all to address anything. Their choice, of course, but now they get to face the consequences of that approach.
