Sony E3 Conference 2016 |OT|

What are you most excited for?

I think the conference gets a gold star by virtue of no boring and extraneous bullshit. It flowed.

I loved the epic Kojima entrance, lol.

But they smartly kept it short and epic and to the point.

Every generation of playstation has gotten a slim lol.

Why not PS4?

Slim PS revisions normally coincide with smaller fabs of the CPU/GPU.

For example, the PS3 Slim saw the Cell reduced from 65mm to 45mm and the RSX down to 40mm. A smaller manufacturing process results in a console needing less power to run and one that produces less heat. less heat means smaller fans and smaller chassis.

The rumour is that the Neo and Scoprio have both come about due to AMD not offering a smaller manufacturing process for the existing APUs. To go smaller, Sony and MS needed to go with the newest Polaris architecture.

The Xbox One S can be made smaller because the original was fucking massive, not because of any major revision in the APU.

This conference made no sense, so many crazy announcements, yet it was so short, it felt like they could've added another hour just with games we already now are comming.

Tons of stuff left for TGS and Gamescom.

Personally, I like when games are introduced, instead of just playing trailers back to back, it makes it feel more grand and memorable. Its like they are trying to make it 100% cringe free but I feel it adds a nice human element to the conference. I do miss that.

It was short, I like 2 hour conferences. I couldn't even gather my thoughts after each trailer. Hopefully they ...slow it down a bit in the future.

So why was Sony's conference cut down? I thought it was supposed to be 90 minutes but ended up just over 60? Seems like that final demo was a quick tack on the end.

Well, they probably wanted to try something new. Lots of stuff happened these past two years.

Last year was a conference ticking in at 90 minutes, unusually short Sony, and this year at just over 60, which I guess is a record for them,

I gave last year an A+ so this is A- Should have ended with something other than Bend’s game and Lego section and COD was a bit too long. Also, the montage could have been longer and showed some indy games as well.

Still, as far as PS dominance is concerned it’s no question about it, MS have pretty much given up this gen and are just trying to reset next Holiday. So much content coming to Sony’s box its ridiculous. We should have another epic PSX this year.

Also, who needs a Neo? These games look great!
Bruh i'm doing the DMC style grading system :P

S and S+ are not there yet

:P

Would have been an S+ if both RDR2/3 and DMC5 were there ;_;

I don't understand why they only showed Gran Truism in the montage and other games like Gravity Daze 2 which are going to be released this year.
I guess they're spreading it out. Gamescom, TGS, PSX.

Other then Kojima, they had no other developer come out and talk, that always adds time. It did feel like again, something was missing at the end.. just like PSX 2015.

Overall I'd give this a 6.5/10. Liked the setup, the pacing, but there was almost nothing in there for me that I thought was really cool. So Pacing/Setup was like a 9 and Content was like a 4 for me.
- God of War looks to go in a direction I'm not fond of
- Horizon looks nice but I'm sceptical because of the dev, they know how to make their games look nice when in fact they turn out to be total duds (was not a fan of Killzone at all)
- Quantic Dream games are not my thing
- Neither is Call of Duty
- Days Gone looks uninteresting to me, feels like a been there done that type of game
- FFXV looks cool, but nothing really new shown except for VR which I don't care about
- Not really much of a Spiderman guy, but I really like Insomniac so that could be cool
- Last Guardian looks nice
- Dunno about this new direction they are taking RE in....might like it, might not. Dunno yet.
- Already played the Crash games
- Don't care about VR
- and Kojima's thing is still ages off.

Well the slotted time I thought for the conference was announced to be 90 minutes?

Yo, Rematching Horizon demo. Man if GG doesn’t skimp on difficulty, and this is really a challenging open-world game, this could be GOTY man. The mechanics looks really fun and the animations on some of her Takedowns for the smaller monsters is sick!

This is game will be about the challenge and fun gameplay though even more than lore. Please GG don’t skimp on difficulty!

Looks like R* backed out last minute or so. Don't see how TT being at E3 "in a big way" is in effect atm. Hopefully it gets revealed over the next few days. Some are saying press have seen it, so if that's true, I should see an announcement on the Newswire soon.. Still have no idea why Sony's conference was cut short.

Said this in another thread, but I really like how they handled the multiple camera angles during the demos, instead of cutting away every 10 seconds

On the post-show, they said it's their largest dev team ever working on this. So it seems it's more than just a contract job to pay the bills at least.

I'm genuinely excited for it, Spider-Man definitely deserves a proper quality game akin to the Batman Arkham ones. Hope Insomniac can deliver.

Hmm, hopefully that's the case, but I don't know why they'd choose to do a Spider-Man game instead of a new Sunset Overdrive/Ratchet/New IP...

Well said...I don’t agree with your overall ranking, but tks for not posting nonsense...

I'm sure no matter what they do some people are going to complain about something. Usually people complain about various segments like the indie blocks being boring and a waste of time but I really would prefer them having a long conference with indies and more involved demos and deal with long segments I don't care about.

I don't recall any announcement of that kind, please link if you find it.

I don't have the link but it was in the other Sony conference thread and some have said it in here too. The post-show with Keighley was announced to be 90 minutes but went for 120 to seemingly make up for Sony.

Detroit has set the bar high with that trailer. I feel like people will refer back to all those choices shown when it comes out, and rip it for a downgrade and like 4 choices total. Hopefully not. Looked so cool.
