W500

While price wasn't disclosed, it is expected to be just under $10k from what I've read.

Well then, I'm off to AVS Forums...

Cheers, and thanks for the info.

Are you talking about this? It says it's 25K....:|

I do wonder if it's almost worth it to wait for 8K TVs since I think LG or another TV maker was already working on that and supposed to release it soon.

Question to those who know, will 4K/8K TVs/Projectors make 3D viewing better? I just came back from Universal Studios in Orlando and the 3D on Spiderman/Transformers ride and Terminator show are simply amazing. I don't want anything less that that for my home theater system.

Yeah that's the one. VW1000ES. It's listed at MSRP on Sony's site. I had seen them selling for $16K+ from various venders when I was demoing my last projector. After seeing that, I told myself that I'd buy it (or something similar to it) when it's $10K or less. $10K is my ceiling for spending money on projector tech.

The biggest problem with 8K is that there isn't any content out yet. Every film shot on 35mm or greater film has enough resolution for 4K. Not to mention newer 4K digital films and the fact 4k is not a problem for PC gaming.

8K content would basically just be some films shot on 70mm, IMAX, and specialty content recorded for 8K going forward.

4K still seems ridiculous. What is motion resolution like on these TVs?

At least we'd be able to view our full dslr photos 1:1.

The question is, will 4k actually be the norm in the upcoming years?

Do you see NBC, Fox, ESPN going 4k with 4k cameras anytime soon?

If not then ill hold off.

The rumor is that the W500ES will be released for around $13K MSRP?! If that's the case, then we could see it for in and around $10K...

The specs look good, this seriously looks like a hell of a nice projector, and would fit my needs for my space beautifully... I can't wait to get a demo of this thing.
