I really dont know how or when indie games became a thing. But I'm already sick and tired of hearing about them. Just give me games like the ps2 era and the beginning of the wii era and not something the equivalent of a flash game or gameboy advance game.
It has games but nothing major apart from batman and Killzone and gow collection jump out from that list really, oh hotline 2 i guess.
No it really wont.
Attaching a controller to a phone is something the mass market will not adapt to easily; its a weird counter-intuitive munging together of two very different products. Its hard to tell people to disregard the primary interface (the touch screen) of a device where that form-factor is a key selling-point.
And most importantly, the economics of the software scene on smartphones/tablets is a far more constraining factor than the power of the hardware.
The Vita, as I've suggested in the past, does have a future as a portable indie-gaming device, because its something that can be clearly marketed albeit at a niche audience, especially when acting as a "second-screen" for PS4.
Pulling a Wii on the PSP probably would've been a good idea, I agree. I think power matters less in the portable space anyway. Slap on a touchscreen, promote it like a new console with games that use the new features, sell it dirt cheap and make sure its durable enough for kids to drop.

Killzone has had a 3 year development. If that is not an AAA I don't know what it is.
Of course it wont, that's why I wrote that marketing it a niche audience is the way to go.
The reality is that the market for handheld gaming is now so large that successfully appealing to a niche within it is enough to float a business on, especially if a large portion of its revenue stream comes from software and services that are also provided on other platforms.
They should turn Vita into an Ouya box and let you hook it up to your TV. $99 PS Vita Fixed?

I can name tons of games that had development cycles that were longer that were nowhere near AAA.
Time in development is not a good indication.
I don't know that much about Tearaway, but the Killzone titles have all seemed like B-tier games to me.
I'd be surprised if the Vita is able to sell at least half of the PSP's LTD WW.
This will happen
I still need more, Give me a;
Final Fantasy Tactics Vita
Jeanne D Arc 2
Valkyria Chronicles Vita
How many Vita's have been sold now? Has it already reached the 10 million?
Didn't even need to do that
Take the Vita's guts, put it in a PSPGo, add touchscreen. Boom. The things that hold the price of the vita up are the OLED screen and back touch panel. Both things that realistically have no real baring on the consoles appeal for the mass market. You could have a a much higher res screen than the 3DS and still not tie yourself to such expensive components.

His language suggests that there are other plans for the VITA platform. More than what was announced today?
