Sony WWS output thus far.

Honestly the first year of the PS4 is much much better then the first year of the PS3 in my view. I have so many games I need to play.

Re: the OP. Not quoting, you all read it.

First of all, you're placing judgement on a game that hasn't even released yet, second you're saying the games are all style over substance yet the knocks against DC is that there is very little flash in the game - that's it's just boring old racing.

But hey, props to Nintendo and MS. Especially MS for buying their flashy new and exciting IP's that everyone loves and all is well and everyone is happy and sunshine and rainbows. Thank fuck for MS who are almost singlehandedly saving gaming for all of us.

Barf.

I enjoy Sony's first party output. Not all of it is blockbuster crowd pleasers, but they are often interesting. Other than Uncharted and Resistance 1, I probably prefer their smaller title output though, things like unfinished swan, journey, ICO, SotC, pixeljunk shooter and others.

What's even funnier is that the only internally developed game Microsoft has released this year is Kinect Sports Rivals.

The problem is MS buy IP like Minecraft when they could be using that money to fund internal-developed games.

"Last gen ports" irrelevant until Halo 2 remaster ships
The MCC is completely different from what TLoU is. If you want to make a direct comparison, it would be Halo 4 inside the MCC that is the same. H2:A is a complete graphics overhaul more akin to a remake--hardly a simply remaster. Not to mention the campaign playlists and integrated multiplayer from every numbered Halo game.

It's not a contradiction to write off one but not the other, and this is coming from someone who loved TLoU remastered.

Sony always start slow since they support their platforms strongly until the end so not particularly unusual for them. People have just switched generations quicker than they normally would so the lack of substance is coming under the microscope a bit more.

Just for a reminder. Here are the first year PS3 exclusives for the U.S.

Motorstorm
Uncharted
Heavenly Sword
Ratchet & Clank
Folklore
Warhawk
Eye of Judgement

Yes and I liked two of those games Uncharted and R&C. I have played way more games on my PS4 launch year then PS3 launch year.

I'm not expecting much from a company that has no more cash. After all, software development is EXPENSIVE.

With very limited resources at its disposal, Sony is now banking on the 3rd parties not just for the success of the PS4, but for the survival of the corporation as a whole.

If Microsoft manages to snag exclusivity of all future AAA titles (including NBA 2K and FIFA), Sony will be in big trouble. Heaven forbid.

Not this shit again.

I've not played a bad first party game on my PS4. I would rate then as good to great experiences. I've also had a good shooter, and third person action games. I'll have racing title with Driveclub.

That's a good start for first party to this gen for me. To each his own OP, but you are generalizing your valuation as indicative of WWS output's quality. It's not that simple. And your post reads a bit fanboyish.

Those of you saying Knack is bad, I would like to know how many of you actually played it or are just believing what the reviews said.

Both Ryse and Knack were games that were quite a bit better than were reviewed, although not outstanding.

What on Earth is this?...

Sony owns more first party studios than MS. Are you implying that they're just gonna keep them on payroll and have them not develop any games for PS4? Those 12 studios are making exclusive games for PS4.

Sony WWS has been shockingly mediocre so far this gen with regards to AAA titles.

Complete props to Nintendo and MS for putting out worthwhile titles this year which
will no doubt succeed critically and commercially

Pretty easy to see where you stand. For me, PS4 gets way more time than my WiiU because of its third party support. Also, WiiU is getting 2nd year games, of which only MK8 did I find any good.

Just like every generation ever, the longer devs have with a console, the better the games get. WiiU is benefiting from more experience from Nintendo devs. First year WiiU games library was so much worse than PS4. The really high end PS4 games we won't even see for another year or two.

Knack was ok
Killzone was fun (bland story though)
Infamous was great... loved first light too
Haven't played Driveclub yet.. but it looks good.

Sony has put out some great titles that not only will people enjoy but fits in perfectly with all of the other offerings coming from third parties.

and looking at their "announced" future offerings

LittleBigPlanet 3
Bloodborne
The Order
Uncharted
Ratchet & Clank

things look good... i'm glad i own a PS4.

You cant be serious right? This thread is confusing me with who is serious and who is joking.

Yeah, but if Sony buys the Monopoly rights, they get all of their money.

The first year is often if not always like that...

And then time goes by and Sony proves gen after gen why they are the best when in comes to games.

I know you're rooting for Driveclub to be bad. I read your embarrassing conversation on twitter with Tim Dog. Jesus fuck, you're something.
You mean my conversation with him where all I say is "I just realized the Embargo date is the day of release, after the midnight launch. Sony must be embarrassed or not confident in DriveClub if they push the Reviews so far back. Forza Horizon 2's embargo date was a week before release, they were confident of good scores. It's a shitty ordeal that this is standard in the industry now to hold back reviews. The last time this happened was Destiny, and we all know how Gaming's finest 7/10 turned out"

That conversation? The one where I never said anything close to "I hope DriveClub is terrible"? Go ahead and post the conversation if you want here. I didn't miss anything.

Late Embargos are a shitty thing, they allow people who are hyped to buy a product without any feedback/opinions on the game, leading to a burnt out buyers. And usually this is done because the publisher isn't condident in the game, as was the case with Destiny recently.

I want DriveClub to be a fun game, I don't know why you assume I don't.

To be fair MS has been having a decent first year. And despite it being the Wii U's second year, Nintendo is really bringing it hard.

Okay, regardless of whatever discussion was happening on that dumb bird site, the bolded cannot be a serious statement. You can't genuinely wonder why one would assume otherwise, right? Once you build a reputation for yourself, you have to live with it.

I realize you are very concerned, but there is an extended demo available for this game for anyone with PS+.

Trying before you buy is much more useful than reading a hundred reviews.

Updated, with Metacritic scores, since overall quality of the output as judged by MC seems to be the OP's intent.

Not a whole lot different from the PS4 year 1 so far. 75 average.

Edit: moar updates, thx to prwxv3

Easily one of the most ignorant and stupid things I have read on GAF.

Stop sir, please.

Oh dear Speedy Blue dude talking like he cares, does this often and pretends to turn a new leaf, after awhile the mask slips.

Didn't Fifa 15 sell better on the PS4? at least in the UK where football is ridiculously popular. I assume your talking about exclusive DLC crap and not actual exclusives, because you must be smoking some good stuff if you think EA will literally only make FIfa for Microsoft.

Sony WWS has been shockingly mediocre so far this gen with regards to AAA titles.

Knack?
KZ: SF?
Drive Club?
Order 1886? (so much negativity around this one, will likely review poorly)

The only one that scored well was I:SS, but even that paled in comparison to other
Infamous games. Then we have TLoU:R, but that's a last gen port.

Personally, Sony so far has become synonymous with the "style over substance" saying,
like we get it: the PS4 is capable of great graphics, but it seems to come at the expense
of compelling/substantial gameplay!

Complete props to Nintendo and MS for putting out worthwhile titles this year which

Man you could not wait to post this I bet. Hell even that last line. So please go on and tell us how MS has put out worthwhile titles this year that are both critically loved and commercially amazing. And I hope you are not referring to those old ass games they are putting out in the Halo Collection since you know, TLOU:R does not count. Sadly as of now, Nintendo has put out amazingly critical games but have sold like hot shit except for Smash (and upcoming Smash U, maybe).

Just for a reminder. Here are the first year PS3 exclusives for the U.S.

Motorstorm
Uncharted
Heavenly Sword

Folklore
Warhawk

Lair

I enjoyed Uncharted, Motorstorm, Heavenly Sword, R+C:ToD, Uncharted or Warhawk more than anything I've touched on the PS4.

Infact, I'd take tools of destruction or Warhawk over every single PS4 game so far put together.

Really the only decent exclusive the PS4 has gotten so far is I:SS and resogun (liked SSD better though).

I know we are all entitled to our opinions, but Motorstorm was good at best and Resistance had some good ideas but was very average as a shooter.

Killzone and Resistance may both be mediocre franchises, but at least the latter tried to be fun.

In Sony's defense all their best devs are busy making games and weren't presure to have a game released during the launch year. The games released this year are all just launch titles meant to show the capabilities of the PS4, probably a no brainier that GG, Evo, Sucker and Japan have more experience with the console and will be able to deliver with whatever they make next.

Welp I'm out!
