Dude, I don't give a shit what happens with this console race, I'm not a fan of one console over the other. And he directly said that you can't criticize Sony on these forums, so that is indeed lumping everyone together. There are posters on both sides of the coin that do the same thing. I'm sure if I made a thread with this title except with Microsoft as the subject I would get shit from a few posters.
I never said it was normal, he has some valid criticisms, but you saying this forum is like that is where your comment goes wrong.
Yeah but thats not what you said. This is what you said
Which is wrong.
Yeah you would and that's okay. That's the point of the forum to discuss thongs. But if they called you a shill and shit then they'd be just as fucking bad.
Where did I say that?
And how does it have any bearing on what I wrote, other than to affirm my point?
Seems like you work at SCE Japan Studio and you know what they have canceled and what they are developing. Tell us more, please.Cancelling everything and pushing shit (Knack) out the door is not successfully running a large games studio. It's a management failure. Being easy or hard isn't really worth anything in such a competitive industry.
I said nothing to him, I simply commented on the poster saying you can't criticize Sony on these forums, that's all. Let's get back on topic.
That's the point of the forum to discuss thongs.
So far, the only smart decision Sony have made is to partner with From on Bloodborne. I say this as I don't expect DC or The Order to be received that well.
GT and GOW are likely years away, as is Guerillas new IP. They have made a compete mess when it comes to managing thier studios.
Oh yeah, scratch the PS3 of the list then. Both consoles are just getting the Vita treatment anyway of Ports and B-Tier Japanese games I guess.
On an unrelated note, I remember the PS2 getting FIFA 2013 last year.
I'm not worried about PS4s output. If I recall PS3 had a pretty mediocre first year as well but eventually it hit its stride and we got some truly memorable games.
I think LBP3 will be the first big PS4 exclusive to score over 90 on Metacritic. The first two LBP games scored over 90 and LBP3 looks to bring a lot of wanted features and improvements!
Would personally like to see them make some more B tier games like Siren, Puppeteer, Vib Ribbon, Jumping Flash etc and release them digitally only from $10-$40 tops. Those games compliment their exclusive AAA series like Ico, Uncharted, Ratchet, TLoU.
One thing I like about Sony games for PS4 so far is that they are very technically competent and a good indication of what is to come.
I don't get how people already count The Order as a failure so far from release and coming from a studio that never released a bad game (RaD has a very impressive resume of games).
Killzone did its job as a launch title and will be a good addition to PS+ eventually, Driveclub is very competent at what it does and has a big opportunity to evolve over time.
Sony mistake was being too conservative, I think that this gen more than ever people want new experiences. At least that is what I want, games like Watch Dogs just don't do it for me, the last few years of last gen spoiled me with games like GTAV and TLoU.
Because it's wrong. Simple as that.
Since he's the big honcho at SCE Japan Studio, they have announced stuff like Puppeteer, Rain (co-developed), Soul Sacrifice (co-developed), Soul Sacrifice: Delta (co-developed), Freedom Fighters (co-developed), Bloodborne (co-developed), Destiny of Spirits (co-developed), Knack, and more.
For a studio, which is still in a "reboot" phase, it's a good lineup.
"Their output is the worst it's ever been"? Surely not!
Seems like you work at SCE Japan Studio and you know what they have canceled and what they are developing. Tell us more, please.
You're right.
That being said you didn't highlight
Also I wasn't directing anything at you just speaking generally.
I'd wait until March or so before saying this. Bloodborne and The Tomorrow Children are the 2 upcoming co-developed PS4 games we know of so far. We'll probably hear about the next Gravity Rush sometime soon (no word on the platform although BluePoint Games is likely working on a PS4 port of the first game). We heard that they're focusing on the PS4 so maybe we'll hear about more games soon?Puppeteer was OK. I liked it, and am one of the few humans alive who payed "full" price for it.
Everything else was an external project.
The comments that I referenced in my first post specifically lauded Becker for cancelling games and refocusing the massive studio.
OTOH comments about TLGs current development hell and Ueda's exit seem to point specifically to Becker becoming involved and reshaping the project in a way that was not compatible with the original team's vision. Internal projects that should have been slam dunk, one-year dev cycle (e.g. Gravity Rush 2) are AWOL. Rain aside, SCEJ has completely missed the boat on co-developing smaller, indy titles, which SCEE and SCEA have been so successful at. The studio is a complete shitshow. The "reboot phase" excuse is hilarious. If you have nothing to show, you have nothing to show. Nuking a giant studios output is not successfully managing that studio, no matter the excuse. It's not just the fact that nothing has been released in that period, but that almost nothing is even announced or appears extant.
I like how you clearly have no idea what I am referencing but impugn it nonetheless. Kneejerk fanboy posts are the best.

Also, I just remembered this thread.

I don't think he's working on any of the titles I mentioned so this should be a new game that's been in development for a good while.
I did Nintendo's just for comparison.
though only till holidays of 2013; to compare them to Sony & Microsoft
nintendo is still leaning heavily on the same ips with only 101 being a fresh game. I wonder how long they can continue with this trend.
Fanboy posts.... ahahahaha.Puppeteer was OK. I liked it, and am one of the few humans alive who payed "full" price for it.

The fact that you refuse to actually read what I write or consider my complaints lead me to assume that you have an ulterior motive.Fanboy posts.... ahahahaha.
Somebody doesn't agree with me = Fanboy!
How cute!
Do you know how long it takes to develop an AAA game?
They had 40 games at the same time in development, before Allan went there to clean up.
Ueda left, because Allan is running the company like a western studio, with deadlines and a fixed budget. So the "holiday / Do what you want" attitude at SCE Japan Studio was over and Ueda didn't like that.
But yeah, go ahead, breh. Seems like you're a total expert in these regards.
Tweet Yoshida, so that he can fire Allan Becker. Guy knows nothing about running a studio. They should hire you.
False.Yeah you would and that's okay. That's the point of the forum to discuss thongs. But if they called you a shill and shit then they'd be just as fucking bad.

I'm saying that in terms of both quantity and quality, SCEJ has been abysmal in the past two years. Then you just go "FUCK YOU GAMES ARE HARD! LET ME SEE YOU RUN A STUDIO!" and keep bringing up points that are either irrelevant or actually accord with my posts. For example, you ask if I know how hard AAA games are directly after I post chiding them for seemingly abandoning smaller titles.
Sony WWS has been shockingly mediocre so far this gen with regards to AAA titles.
Knack?
KZ: SF?
Drive Club?
Order 1886? (so much negativity around this one, will likely review poorly)
The only one that scored well was I:SS, but even that paled in comparison to other
Infamous games. Then we have TLoU:R, but that's a last gen port.
Personally, Sony so far has become synonymous with the "style over substance" saying,
like we get it: the PS4 is capable of great graphics, but it seems to come at the expense
of compelling/substantial gameplay!
Complete props to Nintendo and MS for putting out worthwhile titles this year which
will no doubt succeed critically and commercially
Update:
I've noticed several posts claiming I have an agenda or am a shill of sorts, none of which
are true. Check it out:

Short of owning actual stocks, I'm about as balls deep into Sony as I can be.
As such, their WWS AAA output has been rather mediocre this gen, a criticism I feel quite
confident in leveling against them, especially when their main competitors have
released a number of great titles this year :/
DC's tepid critical performance compelled me to make this thread. I will likely
voice similar concerns if The Order under performs as well.
"Yoshida's WWS output the last few yeas has been very disappointing. He's made terrible decisions like releasing Puppeteer, Beyond and GT6 during PS4 launch. He greenlit Knack. He greenlit GoW Ascension, an unnecessary prequel that bombed. He didn't believe in Demon's Souls. The Last Guardian fiasco. Closure of Studio Liverpool and barely any output from European studios. Naughty Dog thrived because they're Naughty Dog. "

Sony seems to win with the length of that list. But I've played a lot of those free "indie" games and....they're not very good at all.
I don't understand why Yoshida gets a lot of flack for Demon's Souls. The Souls series blowing up in popularity wasn't something anyone could have reasonably predicted at the time.
As someone who has grown up with a PS1 and PS2 and was hyped as hell for the PS4 to be the next PS2, I absolutely agree.
There are just no good first party games. I've played them all:
Killzone: pretty but boring as hell with awful level design.
Knack: underwhelming and dull. Just wasn't enjoyable.
Infamous: pretty but very repetitive and slightly dull, had a little fun, not nearly as much as Infamous 1 and 2 though.
I Played a lot of The Last of Us on PS3, the campaign 3 times and at least 50 hours in multiplayer, I'm not re-buying it.
I Got Horizon 2 last week (because liked the previous game and the demo a lot) and getting The Crew later (beta was awesome, felt like a good NFS game). But as a racing fan I was also interested in getting Driveclub, but the games "driving" style looks like a wierd 90's racer and it seems...sterile compared to the other two games I've tried.
I'm also not too interested in The Order. It sounded awesome and I was completely in on it until I heard about the game play style and saw the game play trailer. Why do that to a game with so much promise...
I'm also a big fan of Ratchet and Clank, but I don't give a shit about a remake/ movie tie in. The up-scaled version in R&C Trilogy HD was more than enough for me, I wanted a new game in the series.
Bloodborne is the ONLY thing that interests me on the system now and I don't think I should keep the system for one game. So until next E3 in hope, there's nothing for me on the system. I'm pretty much only keeping it in hope that they release a new Twisted Metal, which I bet they won't.
