Sony X800D well - reviewed, 4k+HDR TV with low input lag

I feel like these updates just make everything slower.

TV feels insanely slow vs when I bought it. Just did a power cycle too.

The last update may have fixed an issue I was having with my ps4 pro's sound coming out delayed.. I used to have to change the audio setting back and forth to get it to come out right...seems to be fine now.

Did you disable Sony shelf and the other Sony app to get rid of the bloat?
Mine runs like butter as soon as I removed sony's terrible decisions from the mix.

Oh shit. How do you do that?

Remove Featured Apps Section
Open Settings > Apps
Find Sony Shelf and click on it
Force Close it
Set Notifications to off
. Another thing that is annoying is the Sony Select app, which also suggests apps to get that Sony recommends.

Remove Everything Related To Sony Select
Open Settings > Apps
Find Sony Select and click on it
Force Close it
Set Notifications to off

You can also disable that asphalt game they like to force on consumers for no good reason other than marketing money.

For people outside the US though, featured apps is the only way to get a lot of apps you use to show up on the home screen. I turned it off and then couldn't get a lot of apps I use to show up anywhere for some reason.

I think the only one I use from featured apps might be Amazon. I will have to check when I get home.

Yup. It got rid of Netflix amazon all the video on demand stuff like iplayer and youview for me here in the UK.

I think disabling the featured apps section gets rid of things if you installed them that way in the first place.

I just did a factory reset and got rid of those from the get-go. Then I used the google play store to install things like Netflix and Amazon prime.

Now I have all my apps without the bloat.

Might as well ask here...

Any recommendations for a back-up HDMI cable that's compatible with the X800? Gonna have to need one now that my Pro would be travelling to more events thanks to Rev Major

Does anyone know if there's a way for the tv to automatically set the sound bar to be the default? I have to go to sync and then choose use audio system but I feel like there must be a default setting for this

For anyone living in Germany near Bonn/Cologne. I want to sell this Sony TV for pick up, because I finally bought the LGB6D. PM me if interested.

I'm sure this has been asked before but does the Xbox Youtube App support 4K and HDR yet?

No it doesn't, but I believe the PS Pro version does 4k. HDR isn't supported on either platform.

Google won't play nice with MS, I doubt they will have a change of heart with the new X console either unfortunately.

OT - That trick to remove the app bloat. Does it work for XE900 by any chance, this Android lag has me a little apprehensive before buying.

I've got a couple of questions about the X800E:

- My current receiver doesn't appear to support HDR (STR-DH550) so how would I be able to go about still using it for sound and using HDR on the TV?

- Is there any benefit to the Netflix app on the TV or am I fine to keep using my PS4?

Thanks a bunch.

Just ran the update that came up on my TV and my computer stopped recognizing the resolution that was working just fine. Any ideas? Can't change my resolution above 1920 with gpu scaling on even though it was before.

its super fast on the tv, quieter, and uses less energy.

There are a couple of options that don't involve buying more hardware.

1) Plug your HDR devices straight into the TV and run an optical cable from the TV to the receiver.

2) As above, but you use ARC to get the sound back down the HDMI that goes from the receiver to the TV. This can be more tricky to set up.

With both solutions, you are limited to Dolby Digital or DTS sound (or 2.0 PCM).

I don't think there's a way to get 5/7.1 PCM without buying more hardware (receiver, HDMU splitter, etc.). I could be wrong. I went with the optical cable myself because I had some hanging around and it was easy.

just deliivered to my house and just set is up(put the screws in and what not) what HDMI port does the Ps4 pro go in?

sorry for bumping both threads mods, hoping to get a quick response without making a thread on the matter.

HDMI 2 to use HDR.

Make sure your PS4 Pro settings are updated.

For the tv itself I have set to "automatic" detection. I can tell when it switches back and forth, very obvious to me.

Great games to test are Ratchet & Clank, Infamous Second Son, and Elder Scrolls Online. I actually find Horizon and Uncharted to be more subtle.

After a lot of back and forth and indecisiveness, I ended up settling on the X900E. Anything important I should know before hand? This is the most I spent on a TV since 2006 so I want to make the most of it. I have a PS4 Pro so I'm really excited to game on this thing.

Regarding Android TV...does having that mean I get access to all android apps? I'm mainly interested in HBO Now, Netflix, and Amazon here but I can't find anything concrete on whether or not all tvs support all apps.

Remeber to turn on enhanced format mode on Hdmi port 2 and 3 - if you plan on using HDR.

You have to hit home button and scroll down to the bottom to settings and go from there.

Not all but most. Some stuff doesn't show up on the store but actually is compatible these you have to download onto a USB stick and install manually.

Something weird happens when i have the TV (xe900) connected to my computer and extend the image.
If i turn the TV off and leave the extended desktop active, my PC monitor something turns blacks and comes back to life (does not happen if i turn off the extend option).

Anyone has the same problem and solution (besides turning off the extend option)?

You have to plug it into HDMI 2 or 3 provided you have enhanced hdmi turned on.

Maybe i didn't explain myself correctly, but it is not the TV that loses signal, everything works fine.

The problem only happens when i turn the TV off and have the PC with extended mode ON (its like the TV sends some kind of signal to the PC).

I can live with it, just wondering if someone had the same issue.

No, just try it. I had the exact same issue. The TV is still "on" when it is off.

I'm using HDMI port 2 and enhanced turned ON, still happens.

Thanks for the help anyway! :)

Same thing happens to me if I leave the desktop extended or cloned while the TV is off. I've not figured out anything to make it stop either.

The USB ports also like to randomly power up while the TV is off, so I assume it moves in and out of different power states while it is on standby.
