Sony X800D well - reviewed, 4k+HDR TV with low input lag

In the UK, what's the difference between the Sony Bravia KD49XD8077, Sony Bravia KD49XD8088 and the Sony Bravia KD49XD8099. They all look the same and I want to make sure I get the one with the 10 bit panel.
The different numbers are normally store specific versions of the same tv.

I don't really see the advantage of 120hz panels on a TV -- especially when the set doesn't even take a native 120hz on its input. Motion interpolation shouldn't be used for games due to the high input-lag it causes and the motion interpolation is kind of an ugly "enhancement" aka the Soap Opera Effect.

Also, after the firmware fixes in the pipeline, the Vizio P Series has a much better image quality than the KS8000. Samsung's edge-backlighting can't compete with full-array zones.
Well yeah turn off the interploration but having a native panel that is quicker than 60 hz still ensures the smoothest experience. That's like saying a 144 hz panel isn't any better than a 60 hz panel. the p series is cool. I think it's a little overpriced for being vizio. Vizio needs to improve its build quality. Also I feel like the p series needs to improve its colors. The picture always looks so bland when I see a p series tv.

So I got the good cables finally yesterday and hooked it up.

I swear 2k17 had HDR support and my TV is really noticeable when it detects HDR content as it goes into a brightness mode that's different than standard content. However it never happens on the PS4. Everything is set to auto.......but my TV never activates HDR or detects it from the PS4. So what the hell exactly causes the PS4 to activate HDR exactly? At least the Xbox one S auto detects everything easily and tells you exactly what you get in the settings. The PS4 is so barebones and I have yet to get HDR working with 2k17 with it

As far as I know there is not one single way to take advantage of HDR on OG/Slim PS4 right now. Sony literally just added the setting in the last firmware update. I expect more info come PS4 Pro launch.
I don't follow the game, but I think you mixed up versions. The Xbox version of NBA got a HDR patch recently (though implementation is apparently underwhelming).

Some website I read must have screwed up and took post patch as in day one lol.

So far it seems HDR support from everything so far has been underwhelming. Even horizon 3 some people with really expensive sets are not impressed

anyone know how to fix overscan when connecting a pc? when i go to 4K on pc res the tv itself only has the option of FULL display area, yet i still dont see my start button and stuff, how can i fix this?

you probably picked the wrong 4K res, should be 3840X2160.

In addition to what Gitaroo said, perhaps check if you disabled scaling in your GPU drivers.

because it doesn't support WCG, even DF analysis video says they rather play the game with higher fidelity on pc. Would probably wait for something like U4 to get patched in.

oh wow, isnt the tv panel res 4096x2160 tho? And its kinda shitty but my MSI r9 390 8gb apparantly isnt hdmi 2.0 so im stuck @ 30 hz LOL. oh well i bought it for movies and ps4pro mainly anyways.

No, 4096x2160 wouldn't be 16:9 AR so you probably wouldn't want it if that'd be the case anyway :p

Which helps retailers with price-matching policies that require the same exact model number. I remember first noticing this years ago when Costco would get unique model numbers from popular printer lines sold at other retailers. Used the same cartridges, had the same specs, but wasn't the _exact_ same model # so other retailers didn't have to price match.

Damn.....no point in HDR without the WCG......fucking huge difference in tone their alone.

FH3 looks amazing on my OG xbox one upscaled already. I mean HDR would be cool with the S, but I'm way, WAAAYYYY more interested in the improved color pallet with WCG.

How good/quick is the OS?

I'm not buying a TV until they are nice and snappy and not waiting 30 seconds between switching channels or turning the thing on. Heard and seen a lot of slow android TVs.

So I tried to configure this point:

- Also make sure to use HDMI 2 or 3 if you want 4k60 4:4:4 and enable Enhanced HDMI in the TV settings as the rtings review tells you. Otherwise you are stuck with 4:2:0.

I put my HDMI cable in HDMI3 and tried to enable Enhanced HDMI. But then I can not configure 4k in Windows. I just can display 1080p. :/

It is snappy, I'm quite amazed. Netflix is super fast to load & TV turns on pretty quick too

Sorry I just woke up so I haven't searched.
Simon Cooke the engineer in the advanced Xbox Group stated
"Xbox One has support for wide color-gamut, but not HDR." Xbox One S has both

Are we talking about something different. Sorry just hammered today so I haven't gone back to read the other posts. I am probably just confusing what folks are talking about

Are you sure your GPU can output 4K via HDMI? The TV defaulted to 1080p for me but communicates its supported resolutions correctly up to 4K DCI. Perhaps it's the cable?

Well yeah, it's Android TV so it takes a few seconds to cold boot. My ShieldTV is definitely snappier (surprise surprise) but the Sony holds up quite nicely. Can't comment on switching channels because I don't use it for cable etc

Yes, it was the cable. :)

Now 4:4:4 and 4K works.

That is correct, the TV EDID tells the Geforce its native res is 1080p but support 4K resolution, same with 930D, 850D etc and the other Sony Android TV. Nothing to do with the cable. It is dumb and wrong becuase it screw up the nVidia GPU scaler. THe GPU would only scale resolution higher than 1080p if your desktop is set to 4K 59Hz. If you run anything at 1080p or lower you will see the TV switch back down to 1080p display mode and the nVidia GPU will only scale anyhting 1080p or lower. desktop also also need to be in 59Hz for 4K in order to work.

Ooohhhhh no lol, he mentioned how right now there is no WCG for horizon 3......or NBA. At least that what it seemed like he said

With a 43" TV you need to be REALLY CLOSE to it to notice a difference between 4K and 1080p

Fuck man. Why do people keep perpetrating this shit.

Same type of thing said for 1080p LOL.
Anyone know where to get this for a good price in Canada (Toronto)?

Just moved to a smaller apartment downtown and I have no room for my 62'' 1080p bravia. this looks like a good replacement for the bedroom.

Try B&H video.

Pay the US price and free shipping to Canada.

It's fast.

I've connected mine to an AC Netgear router (does the TV have AC? maybe?) and I'm streaming HD content from a Windows 7 homegroup through the router to direct to the TV using the mobile VLC app on the TV.

It's actually fantastic. I can stream the same to my phone or tablet in the same way. Music or movies.

Swapping between applications is like 5 to 10 seconds at most. You just press Home and navigate to the new app you want to launch and you're fine.

43 inch is bigger than what I have now and I need an upgrade. 49 wouldn't even fit in my room right now.

This sounds perfect.

Pretty sure it is store branded so each retailer can deny price matching as well as slight cosmetic changes like bezel colors. Sometimes there are specific changes. Some people I have read have said the 49" comes in a VA or IPS panel so if your panel looks slightly washed out on an angle but looks nice and dark in front it is a VA panel. If your panel looks normal and great on an angle but your blacks and contrast seem worse, you have an IPS panel. I think the Sony X800D is an 8 bit panel that can do 10 bit color using some digital wizardry.

Pfft.
Go big or go home.
I just stumped up for the 49".
You know, I really was going to, but it's not worth rearranging my room for. 6 inches is something I can live without. I'm usually only 5-7 ft. in front of the TV anyway. I hope you enjoy your bigger version though, I bet it's worth the price hike.

Edit: I should have seen that post below coming

Okay so I use the TV as a monitor right now. It's a game changer. 4K gaming is so awesome on it. Ego Shooters work flawlessly.

I don't really need a new TV but I put the 49" on my Amazon wishlist. I'll pull the trigger if the price drops considerably during Black Friday.

So does anybody know what the "Clearness" setting in the motion option means?

I heard it doesn't produce input lag.

I think it's some sort of ULMB-ish feature / backlight strobing. Reduces brightness but clears up motion. Personally, I feel it's not needed for 60fps gaming but ymmv.

Got the 49" one today and I'm trying to set it up with my PC that have a GTX 970 but when I select the resolution in the nvidia control pannel the native one is still the 1080p, do I need a new hdmi cable? Mine is pretty old and I'm not sure if it's a 2.0 or a 1.4 one

I had the same problem. Use HDMI 2 or 3 and try a new cable. My cable was the problem.

Ordered a 43" x800d from Amazon, it will be here monday. Its going to be my primary PC monitor. Upgrading from a 32" 1080p Samsung tv that is 7 years old, with a dying ccfl backlight.

I am expecting a huge upgrade in picture quality.

Yeah, it's awesome!

43" is really really huge on your desk. But once you have seen 4k with this TV....on your desktop and in gaming you will never go back......
