Sony X800D well - reviewed, 4k+HDR TV with low input lag

I think the Sony is a better pick because of how easy it easy to setup, and all the nice perks it has in it. I like it much better than the VIZIO i picked up. So i would recommend that one. Also, if you are interested on the Pro what better than a Sony to pair it with. The TV even comes with PS Now installed on the TV itself ready for stream, you can sync a DS4 to it as well hehe.

I'm just really pleased with the TV so far. I am sure syncing more money on to a bigger and nicer tv would look better. But since i don't know any better, and the price for what you get with this one is so good, i don't regret my purchase.

And yes.... the VIZIO, believe it or not, does not have a remote control that can calibrate your tv. It has a remote that does input, channel, and volume. But anything else you would have to access it through their app. You would think the app would be compatible with everything... but both my Nexus tablet and my samsung phone on Android did not support the app. :(
 
So was about to go pick up the X800D in a couple hours, but I have now noticed that the X700D is the same price here in Canada for the 55 inch model. The X800D was the 49 inch model.

Should I opt for larger X700D? Need some quick opinions!

I had the philips 6921, returned it for the x850D, the philips is not true 4:4:4 so not good for pc and the panels is very dim at max brightness for HDR and I believe it was also a 8 bit panels. X800D overally is a much higher quality screen with full android tv support rather than just google cast.

real rtings review to see the difference and decide for yourself. X800D most likely have a better screen.

what are the differences fromx700D and 800D models?
I'm very interested in that 55 " since the 800D max size is 49"

i'm not too familiar with the X700D but http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony is a great resource to pick out the difference. I know it lacks WCG and VP9 profile2 for youtube HDR support, whenever that comes out. Both are IPS panels at that size, the X800D has the much improved processor for smart functions according to some. I'd go with the X800D myself(getting the 43") because of HDR technology.

How big of a difference are there between the two? I assume the Sony is better? My main use is going to be PS4 Pro and PC Gaming/Second Monitor. How much better is the HDR on the Sony than the Samsung?

I say no, and this week, the KS8000 is priced at the lowest point I've seen yet at the major retailers like Amazon, Best Buy and Costco.

I went for the 65" model for $1679 at Costco, and other sizes have also seen sizable discounts as well.

X700D doesn't have Wide Color Gamut. That's not a feature you'll want to pass on.

I always wondered about the difference between having WCG and not having it. The KU6300 is close to the X800D but lacking WCG yet rting gives them the same score in HDR gaming. Makes no sense to me how they score it, though it may be limited by lack of HDR games.

buying new 4k sets is so annoying, i remember just picking a random 1080p set in 2009. I cared so much less back than lol

This is why I'm waiting for 4k & HDR. Spending the money on a PS4 Pro instead. there are just way too many snags and issues with 4k sets right now. Buying one feels so muddled with all the different options and standards - I'm waiting till the full UHD premium HDR10 standardised sets reach sensible prices. So maybe next year. Maybe not even till 2018.
 
Eh, technology always changes. 2 years ago people didn't even really know HDR was coming. Next year or year after will be something new. You can get some great gaming in, in the meantime getting something now. There is akways something newer and better on the horizon.
 
I got a 49inch 800d for the bedroom a few weeks back. 1000cdn for a pretty good hdr 4K why not. I'll wait for the tech to mature a bit before I spend the big bucks in 65inch for the living room.

Not even going to hook up my OG PS4 to her. Pro all the way errday starting next week.

You said it though, buying a 1080p set was only easier because you cared less. It's really only as complicated as you make it. It's been kind of amusing watching this place turn into a mini AVSForums since the Pro reveal. How many of you cared enough about input lag ratings, motion handling, black levels and wide color gamut to research all of it prior to 2 months ago?

So true. Its crazy how i was very pleased with my purchase. Read the forum and saw that people said there is a better display for a few hundred bucks more. how it has different tech that is nice. Made me second guess my purchase. But ultimately this works, and for the price its almost impossible to complain.

Overall, its a good intro into what will be a new standard on TVs moving forward.
 
I have been looking at a new TV for a while now and Spec wise the KS8000 is what I kinda want but I have checked it out at Best Buy a couple times and it is just not impressive in the slightest. It just looks washed out and seems to have some sort of motion blur that I have noticed on other TVs in the past.

I want a TV with low input lag but the Sony's just look so much more vibrant/better than the KS8000.

I think there was something wrong with that Best Buy setup because KS8000 is objectivley a better TV than X800D image quality-wize, especially in HDR mode.

As for motion blur, there were reports about that by some users, but majority did not experience it.

Ya, but there are always pillars that you can describe as core functionality simply because content needs to support it. You're not going to have content formats constantly chasing new things every year. 4K and HDR is one of those pillars so it's not totally accurate to just blow it off as something is always going to be new.

TV tech industry people expect panels with much higher color gamut and ability to hit several thousand nits.

Yeah but now you have so many hdr tv that don't even do hdr well which is a key feature. Also ku3000 is $250 less right now than the x800d cuz of a sale. Which is making it even harder to decide, since the big differences comes down to HDR performance lacking WCG.

What's the difference between the XD80 and XD83 in the UK models? the US don't seem to have the equivalent.

Take a look at the new Sony Z series. Almost touched OLED level blacks, while allowing for better contrast and brightness.
 
I kind of want this but I'd be going from the 49" Sony w600b to maybe the 43" X800d

I'm hearing the picture better for the 43" compared to the 49" counterpart. Not sure if the downsize would be a bit weird but it seems worth it compared to getting the 49" since the 43" is cheaper and apparently has better picture.

49" X800D would be better than your w600B as well. But the size isn't too bad. Would be about 3" less diagonally on top left and bottom right.

The goal is always 4K + HDR. So only you can decide if you want to hold off for now.
 
Anybody knows the eu/italian code counterpart of this model? Or another 40ish inch hdr tb worth the purchase?

I am trying to pair some Bose 35 wireless headphones to the bluetooth. Unsuccessfully so far. Any ideas?

Set the headphones to pair, set the tv to find accessory and it finds nothing for a while. :(

There is an issue with A2DP right now and so it won't recognize your bluetooth headphones even though the OS is now Android tv 6.0.1

There is a workaround that requires a headphone transmitter that connects to audio out on the back and then sends wirelessly to your headphones. But yeah, bad oversight. The hardware exists, the software just needs to catch up. Android tv 6.0 has a2dp bluetooth support and the television has latest bluetooth v4.1 etc.

Lame.... i might just return these headphones then. Spent good money getting a good pair of wilreless headphones. Not gonna spend more money on an adaptor that adds to the delay from the bluetooth. I looked online and this seems to be an issue for a few years now. How is this not resolved with Android TV now being 6.0+ ???

Very disappointed in this tbh. Even my computer and phone recognize the headphones :(

For those who are new to Android TV, i really recommend getting a NAS and installing MX Player + ES File Explorer. Now you can play any media format in your collection with just your TV.

Yeah it was an issue due to previous Android software versions but should have been resolved with Android 6.0 which added a2dp support and with bluetooth v4.1

I think Sony just has not had time or is willing to do update firmware to allow the support etc. Very dumb I know, then again Sony software has never been their strong suit.

Your best bet might be HDR monitors next year.
Though I can see 1080p not being a big thing for these either as they'll probably mainly cater to core PC gamers and I imagine a significant margin will be interested in moving past 1080p next year in case of a monitor upgrade given midrange dGPU capabilities.

Why is there no 3D for 480p? Because 4K is a massive increase in resolution and pixels over 1080p. 1080p is essentially a dead resolution going forward. Unlike the 720p/1080i/1080p issue, there is no real in between anymore. It will either be 4k native content or content upscaled to 4k through post-production.

With the increasing power of consoles, PC GPU's, you are going to start to see greater than 1080p gaming for a large segment of the population. Makes no sense to add HDR without the bump in visual fidelity, resolution, technologies like wide color gamuts etc.

Eh, I just don't see this. If what Cerny says is true not even the Scorpio will be able to deliver native 4K content. The vast majority of gamers won't be able to afford gaming set ups that will be able to handle native 4K content. Why even add HDR support to a standard PS4 if it wasn't to give HDR to the largest amount of consumers possible, including consumers playing on non 4K sets.

I have an 850C and haven't had any real issues with the AndroidOS. Supposed to get an update to Marshmallow in the next couple of weeks, so we'll see how that goes, but I haven't had any random reboots or freezes that I can think of. And I don't know what features are missing. Haven't noticed anything. The only thing I can think of that I'd like is Amazon Echo support, which is apparently possible, but highly convoluted at the moment.

So any recommendations for headphones that would work well with this TV? Here i thought going Bose would be the smart thing to do because they always are compatible with everything haha.
 
Is 4:4:4 really that important? Someone said earlier in the thread that this doesn't support 4:4:4 4k60 10 bit. I plan on using this on my pc(and ps4 pro) to game but this is not going to replace my main monitor. I'll likey be sitting at least 3-7 feet away from it when I use it to game. From what I've researched 4:4:4 is only really noticeable from up close when looking at text.

It does support it and the TV does have a 10 bit panel. I run mine through my GTX1080 and i've had no issues with it. Looks awesome on a 49" 4k TV.

I do keep my desktop resolution to be 1080p tho. For navigation. But any game that runs at 4k displays at 4k. Its pretty cool.
