Sony X800D well - reviewed, 4k+HDR TV with low input lag

In the manual, under specifications subsection it clearly states that HDMI Port 1 only does 4k/30 hz. Only 2, 3, and 4 do 4k/60hz.

So you're saying despite this HDMI input 1 will still give you 4k output at 60 fps?

4096 x 2160p (24, 60Hz), 3840 x 2160p (24, 30, 60Hz), 1080p (30, 60Hz), 1080/24p, 1080i (60Hz), 720p (30, 60Hz), 720/24p, 480p, 480i

Edit: the manual says HDMI 2 and 3 for 60hz and yet the other slip says for all inputs. I have both downloaded. Now I am curious myself and will test and report back.

Reposting for new page as well.
Anyone with the 43", can you do me a favor and see how secure your ac cord is to the television. The 49" comes with a detachable powr brick, but the 43" cord comes attached direct to the tv. Does your cord, at the point of connection with the television wiggle or even turn almost 45 degrees to an angle. My television was moved causing extreme tautness on the wire and when I looked, I noticed the where the power is connected to the television it was severely angled.

Can anyone check their 43" for me. Don't use any force or anything but see is it a loose connection or does it not move? Because if so it might mean mine has dislodged etc. Ive straightened and moved it back and let the cord have slack but it was turned almost over the screw on the bottom right.

Anyone using the 43" as a PC monitor as well? Seems like it is a solid choice for the PS4 Pro too. I can't really fit anything bigger than 43" in my office. I am curious what the 2017 line up will be like, but I am a bit impatient. I wish the KS8000 came in a 40" model.

Just got my 49" in. Now I have to browse through... 30 something pages to figure out which configurations you guys say are right for HDR and 4K

Connect your PRO to either HDMI 2 or 3. Set in your TV settings the HDMI connection to "Enhanced". Calibrate your TV using games choice and what not. On the PRO i have left my settings to Auto and i still get HDR that looks stunning on the same TV.

People claim that if you have a 10 bit panel HDR you should set your PRO to YUV, but i let it decide for itself and so far i've had no issues. I am sure people will let you know otherwise and why after this post. But this is what works for me.

Auto should work across the board for settings. Do turn on the enhanced HDMI in the TV's settings menu though.

HDMI 2 or 3 for 4K 60hz.

If you're looking to actually calibrate the set for HDR. Good luck. Nobody can agree on anything in that regard. Well, other than that brightness should be maxed and that black level is what you want to adjust if things look blown out.

The RGB vs YUV stuff isn't worth fretting about. PS4 Pro games don't output in 4:4:4 anyway.

FYI...Just got an update today (US) to PKG6.0612.0004NAA from PKG6.0514.0001NAA (9/16/2016).

Oddly I got this on the TV but it is not on Sony's site yet.

Mine comes tomorrow and I'll be using it for both PC and consoles as my desktop replacement. I'll report back after I've messed w/ it a bit. I would've waited too, but I just can't. LOL

Ugh, didn't get to go with the Click Frenzy deal. Honestly, between the various benefits and flaws of the Samsung and the Sony, I'm gonna wait and see if Samsung's 2017 line finally includes a 40-incher with proper HDR.

Waiting is not a bad idea. All of these sets have some compromises. Next year will be a bit better, and 2 years out, hopefully we've met the full potential of HDR10. And within that time, HDR12 will be live, so, you know.

Updating my x800d right now. Anyone knows what it does?

Menus and guide seems faster. Could be off base but colors/letters seem a bit more vivid and sharper. My settings haven't really changed. I wonder if input lag decreased. Sony has always been able to drop input lag times with their updates.

I checked mine and it wiggles. It's very loose but I don't think it can be turned to as much as 45 degrees.

what are your settings? curious

I've been messing around with the settings for this tv for hours. Can someone please share what settings they are using for SDR and Hdr.

I will be forever in your debt. Loosing my mind here. Something feels off when hdr kicks in. I've already made sure the enhanced connection is on and all that.

4096 x 2160p (24, 60Hz), 3840 x 2160p (24, 30, 60Hz), 1080p (30, 60Hz), 1080/24p, 1080i (60Hz), 720p (30, 60Hz), 720/24p, 480p, 480i

So any confirmation if HDMI input 1 is 60 hz?

Was anyone between this and the KS8000 by chance? I know it's crazy but I am between this in 43" and the KS8000 in 49". Is everyone happy with the HDR performance of this set? Cheers!

I was considering it, but I opted for the Sony simply because I didn't want to fork out $1,000+ at the time.

I'm pleased with the 800D's performance. Ratchet and Clank in HDR really surprised me.

I'm considering getting one of these (Sony XBR43X800D). Will it do well as a part time computer monitor? I'd like to use it in my office and move the ps4 in there but I'll have to share this screen with my PC. I can get the TV for $465.

Thanks. Glad you're happy with your purchase. These are about $300CAD difference and even less if you compare the 49" panels. Tough choice.

Anyone have any luck using the tv's bluetooth pairing to get a pair of wireless earphones connected to it? Cos if I can I'm going to fall in love with this set all over again.

EDIT: Did some research, connecting bluetooth headphones are not possible. I'll sit in sadness now.

RTINGS (check OP for link) rated it pretty well as a PC monitor. Read it.

Quick question.

I have motion clearness (not smoothness) but clearness set to max. This reduces judder.

RTINGS mentioned in their review that it doesn't not contribute to input lag. So I was like, oh cool - let's turn this on.

But there is no such thing as a free lunch and I don't believe them now that I think about it. Any thoughts on this?

IIRC that just controls the backlight strobing so I don't see why it'd increase input lag.

I'm getting the 43"....

I only have the OG Xbox One and OG PS4. Will the TV upscale them? Do I need to buy a 2.0 HDMI cable to be able to do that or is that needed only for proper 4K?

I have a question. Do you guys set HDR on the Picture Settings to on or auto? What is the recommended setting for this because i know some games don't support HDR. Is it Ok to force HDR on games that don't support it in game? Or would it make things look too bright.

Yes it will. You can do accurate pixel mapping (another GAFfer explained how to on the recent pages), use their in-built upscaler (guess this will introduce input lag) or just set it to game mode and be done. The cables you use currently are fine.

Auto. Your image will look horrible if you "force" HDR "on".

E: Btw no new update for the EU model yet.

Bought a 49" X700D from MediaMarkt for 650 euro last night. (Germany)

Wasnt interested in HDR and it was not advertised as being a HDR TV, but found out that the firmware has enabled HDR which is a nice bonus.

Really nice TV for the price. Great motion stability and upscaling. Blu Rays look perfect. Downside is the backlight is quite bright so black are not in the same ballpark as a premium LCD/OLED. but compared to my 2009 LCD its light years ahead.

Looking forward to trying out some Pro enhanced games tonight, only had a fiddle with Bloodborne so far. (Damn that game HAS to have a 60fps update, Sony/From!)
