Sony's E3 2014 - What are we all expecting?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who remembers this game! Bayonetta 2 and Lily Bergamo are the only character action games coming out so far, so I'm definitely looking forward to this game. Guilty Gear Xrd will be at E3 with a US release date and if Lily Bergamo is there, I'll be set.

I would love to see this game in action. Diggin the art

I'm expeciting something like the following:-
  • Won't start on time
  • PS3 Remastered Games(TLOU, Pupperteer, etc.)(30mins)
  • Indie Games First on PS4(Trailers/montage)(10-15mins)
  • PS4 First Party Games(Drive Club, The Order, a brand new game)(2014 slate)(40mins)
  • Trailer acknowleding Uncharted 4 has slipped to 2015(7.30mins)
  • Sony Studios discussing PS+ membership with free TV shows/movies(20mins)
  • Third Party Hour(AC: Unity/Comet, Batman:AK, etc)(60mins)
  • Big reveal of Guerilla Games RPG(20mins)

Heres what Im expecting, granted its what a lot of people already said. so ill just expand on a few but we know whats going to be there for the most part.

From ND
- TLOU Remastered- trailer shows release date and its available after E3 press confrence is over- with possible trade up PS3 version.
-Uncharted 4 game further along even with the unfortunate huge amount of big people leaving.( maybe its pretty much finished and they are ready to move on)

Sony Santa Monica
God of War 4- Norse Gods maybe? please
The unannounced game that had Michael Angeli (battle star) non GoW

Indie segments- ton more of indies- yeah!!! ;)

The Last Guardian- e3 or TGS is the last chance I give it

Agent or some other Rockstar exclusive

2 unannounced new ips

Fallout 4 trailer - just a date please

MGS5 Phantom Pain new trailer release date

etc..
Im expecting a good show from Sony, MS, Nintendo(even tho its not a full out conference) Ubi, EA.

That was canned a month or so ago.

Whatever they do the intro montage will be awesome as always. Personally I would love to see an update on The Shadow of the Beast.

I would love to see this game in action. Diggin the art

Hopefully the bad performance and mediocre reception of KiD will give Suda a bit of an incentive to do better with this one.

  • Big reveal of Guerilla Games RPG(20mins)

You took the words right out of my mouth :D

This is close to what I think it will be, just a few more game trailers, and some more hands on gameplay.

I wish it could be so much more, sony's got so many more IP and it could be valuable to reboot them, and maybe revisit some dead concepts, like 8 days.

I am not expecting a lot of new stuff TBH.

Project Beast seems like a no brainer now so that will be nice but other then that I expect ONE new big boxed game from a SCE studio for PS4. GG, Sony London, GT7, take a guess....

A similar indie showing as last year. I think MS will buy out No Man's Sky exclusivity. Maybe we see Minecraft Vita here.

Another Destiny Demo. (probably opens the show)

Uncharted 4 WILL be there but it will be basically another teaser but maybe it will be in real time.

I expect the VR segment to be pretty painful and way too long. Maybe GT7 is annouced here though.

Same old 3rd parties.

I expect:

Drive Club, TLOU R and TLG (yes) in trailer form, the latter closing out the show. If not now, when?

Destiny, AC Unity, The Order 1886 demoed.

I don't expect:

Much on Morpheus. I think they'll talk about it on-stage and tell people it will be playable on the floor, but nothing much more than that. It's too early and VR isn't suitable for display in this format.

Too many more third-parties than your Destinies and ACs; I see Microsoft bagging the lion's share of third-party reveals this E3.

Anything much on Uncharted. The most I expect is a short reveal trailer. I think they need to show something, but wouldn't want to overshadow The Order.

More than 2-3 new AAA title reveals. Beast Souls and probably another two IPs, one of which might be a re-make/imagining of a PS1 title to mark 20 years of Playstation.

How can something slip when it never had a date?

Looking forward to a Suda51 game? Why'd you do that to yourself?

- PS1, PS2, PS3 compatible with PS4 digital only
- TV,music, movies added to ps+ hopefully not diluting the amount of game content.
- PS Now service details, launch
- Tons of indies
- FFXV , Last Guardian Uncharted 4
- NO vita TV or 64 gig cards
- #jrpgvita full game lineup

- Want but won't happen

- Another new vita model with exact controls of ps4 controller, XL with oled.

I'm not expecting much, to be honest. Lots of indies, maybe a AAA announcement or two. Probably show off Morpheus.

Definitely looking for Microsoft to come out with guns blazing.

More or less what I expect, except GG. I'm gonna guess Mm or Sony Japan maybe. Also, I hope to see more about the recent trademarks. Perhaps they're more indie collaborations with SSM? Speaking of which, Shadow of the Beast, Rime and Rapture will probably be there in some form (maybe part of the "montage").

What about Morpheus?

Why would WWE 2K15 be exclusive to PS4? I would be fine with this but obviously there would be sad xbox one owners

Has there been any rumours that WWE could be exclusive to PS4? I would be fine with it like i said but i can not see it happening, 2K releases stuff on both PS4 and xbox one right?

I'm not expecting much, to be honest. Lots of indies, maybe a AAA announcement or two. Probably show off Morpheus.

Definitely looking for Microsoft to come out with guns blazing.

I expect Sony to reveal more new games simply because they have more games to reveal. MS has announced more of their upcoming line up. Maybe they will show more of those though, and Sony will reveal barely anything new. I don't think Sony can maintain their momentum on Indie games alone and the slim line up they have revealed. This has to be BIG for games on Sony side.

What about Morpheus?

You don't hear anything about Morpheus until their releasing it within the the same calendar year of E3 i.e. If it is launching 2015 I would expect it at E3 2015. However I personally think it will be Sony's Vitality Sensor, most likely never seeing a consumer release.

I would put money on The Last Guardian making a big splash at E3

I have renewed faith in The Last Guardian ever since Allan Becker joined Sony Japan Studio.

It seems like product management is much more efficient and organized since he joined, and games are actually getting off the ground and being released. Since he joined..

  • Patapon 3
  • Gravity Rush
  • Tokyo Jungle
  • Open Me
  • Soul Sacrifice
  • Puppeteer
  • Rain
  • Knack
  • Destiny of Spirits

With more projects on the horizon that are actually making visible progress

  • Soul Sacrifice Delta
  • Deep Down (/w Capcom)
  • Project Beast
  • Over My Dead Body 2
  • Gravity Rush 2

I am sure that all the constant jokes aside, TLG development is fine and that the delays were likely due to porting everything over to PS4

I'm not expecting them to blow their load, because they really don't have to. Not with the rise and importance of Gamescom now.

I see them announcing 2 or 3 new PS4 games and then closing the show with a Uncharted 4 demo.

I'm expeciting something like the following:-
  • Won't start on time
  • PS3 Remastered Games(TLOU, Pupperteer, etc.)(30mins)
  • Indie Games First on PS4(Trailers/montage)(10-15mins)
  • PS4 First Party Games(Drive Club, The Order, a brand new game)(2014 slate)(40mins)

  • Sony Studios discussing PS+ membership with free TV shows/movies(20mins)
  • Third Party Hour(AC: Unity/Comet, Batman:AK, etc)(60mins)
  • Big reveal of Guerilla Games RPG(20mins)

I think it's actually closer to this:

  • Won't start on time
  • Intro montage
  • PS Vita / PS3 talk first 10-15 minutes
  • PS3 talk transists into 'PS3 top games remastered for PS4' talk (The Last of Us and Beyond: Two Souls)
  • PS4 PR (possibly new sales numbers, pro-consumer talk, "future of PS4 is bright")
  • Uncharted world reveal trailer, talk about "one of the most respected development studios in the world, Naughty Dog)
  • #DRIVECLUB trailer, "most beautiful racing game ever made" - The Order: 1886 release date (2014) trailer, "imaginitive new IP from Ready At Dawn"
  • "Exciting line-up for 2014 and into 2015", world reveal (teaser?) trailer of new exclusive PS4 game
  • Indie games segment
  • Little bit about the 'success' of PlayStation Plus, transists into talk about the 'next big cloud service': PlayStation Now details, launch date
  • Project Morpheus vision, perhaps already an official name, "made in tandem with PS4", coming 2015
  • Third party show off: Destiny for sure. Maybe the new Assassin's Creed.
  • Surprise world reveal (teaser?) trailer of new exclusive PS4 game
  • Closing words
  • Ending montage

I think this pretty much covers anything they need to talk about. Time is spend on PS3 + remastered titles and PS Vita. PS4 sales/PR. Indie love. PS Now details shared. Project Morpheus vision shared. Both announced an unannounced PS4 games get attention.

Vita+PS4 bundle

2 Brand new games that leverage using a Vita with your PS4 as well as being used separately. They need software like this to reduce the risk of the bundle underperforming in sales.

Some great Drive Club info.

What I'm expecting but dreading to hear is an exclusivity deal with Final Fantasy XV. I would really like to see this on the PC.

Anything from Square Enix, either a release date for Final Fantasy XV or a brand new Star Ocean and I will be extremely happy :)

I only have one game on my PS4, Infamous Second Son; consequently, I am looking forward on building my library as the games already released do nothing for me at the moment.

Hopefully a surprise reveal will also be in the works :)

Ps4:
-TheOrder1886
-DriveClub
-Uncharted
-Planetside2
-Sony BEND Project
-Media Molecule Project
-Project Beast

PsVita:
-GravityRush 2
-JRPG Reel
-Indie Reel
-Minecraft Bundle

There will also be some talk about PsNow and maybe they'll reveal their Ps1/2-emulation plans.

Nice post man, I agree with you.
Seems it will happen this way, like they did it before, more or less.

In that "thank you" marketing material Sony released one thing I was really enamored with is that there wasn't a single gun except for the 1886 game. I'd like to see an E3 more along this lines. Creative games stepping outside the typical console tropes, perhaps some neglected genres - strategy or simulation for instance. And of course lots of indie titles. Morpheus should be an easy way to nail all of this.

I think this will be an extremely important E3 for Sony. The early rush for the PS4 seems to be drying up so now it's up to them to start defining their console. Microsoft took the ostensibly safe bet and put it all on shooters once again, but seems to have ended up pretty far off the mark. I'm curious if Sony will try to focus on any particular concept or try to be a jack of all trades. The latter seems the obvious choice and certainly would feel safer, but it could easily come off as a lack of focus. They risk failing to appeal to anybody, let alone everybody.

Final Fantasy VII Remake
Final Fantasy XV footage and release date
Kingdom Hearts 3 Info

SOMEONE had to do it, right? lol

For some reason I still don't feel we'll get the release date for FFXV so soon (even though it's been in development for what, 8 years?) I think we'll definitely see KH2.5 HD ReMIX release first.

Here's my semi-"realistic" prediction:
  1. "PS4 is the fastest-selling console of all time!"
  2. PS3 is still alive! (LittleBigPlanet Hub, Sly 5)
  3. Vita is dead but we're still making games for it! (Sizzle Reel)
  4. Upcoming PS4 firmware features (now you can actually resume playing a game!)
  5. PS Now details (launching first on PS3 for some reason)
  6. SOE formally announce PS4 ports (Everquest and PlanetSide 2, no release dates for either)
  7. Adam Boyes Indie Spectacular
  8. #DRIVECLUB #REALLYSOON
  9. Reminder that Last of Us 1080p/60fps/awesome edition comes out in one week
  10. Uncharted 4 Teaser #2 (No Gameplay)
  11. The Order 1886 Pre-Recorded Demo (Contains at least three QTEs)
  12. PlayStation Camera games (Until Dawn is back)
  13. Destiny Live Demo ("Beta available first on PS3 and PS4 on July 1")
  14. Assassin's Creed Unity ("With 1080p graphical fidelity only possible on PS4")
  15. Final Fantasy XV Trailer (looooong trailer, fades to XV -> 2015)
  16. Kingdom Hearts 3 (CG Trailer)
  17. GTA V Super HD ("This is the most advanced open world game on next-gen consoles")
  18. Beast Souls (Surprise, motherfuckers!)

Notable omissions:
  • Project Morpheus (no games to show yet)
  • The Last Guardian (Sony has other priorities - you know, making games that might actually sell a lot)
  • Crash Bandicoot (they DO NOT own the IP)
  • Gran Turismo (Driveclub isn't even out yet!)
  • Wipeout PS4 (Studio Liverpool is dead)
  • New Vita games (...)
  • Shenmue 3 (not in Sony's interest to fund this fully or even partially)
  • Guerilla Games' new IP (likely not ready for showtime)
  • Sony Santa Monica game (studio's already too busy supporting everyone else)
  • Quantic Dream new game (also too early in development)
  • Media Molecule (small studio, ambitious plans)

This is pretty much EXACTLY what I think E3 will be like. Maybe swap Beasts out for one of the registered trademarks. But yeah, around this level of predictability.

PS4 game montage featuring their fall spring releases from Driveclub, The Order, Uncharted, Destiny, NHL15, Madden, CoD, etc.

- Project Beast info

Damn, this is one boring ass E3 conference but I'm betting this is exactly what we will see at their conference.

Is this is Sony's conference, then I wouldn't even bother wasting 2-3 hours of my life on it.

Megatons. I expect this to be SCE's greatest E3 in their 20+ year history.

-sales numbers
-vita games
-gg's new IP
-the agent or tlg. One of the two and not both. Sony has to have something for tgs.
-order 1886 gameplay and playable demo
-uncharted 4 trailer
-the division gameplay
-drive club looks amazeballs
-Morpheus game demo
-indies
-PlayStation now demo and pricing
-but wait there's more. Unnanoucned exclusive trailer coming 2015
