Sony's marketing and communication about the PS4 Pro

True. But I still think Sony's should be updating all first party games in an attempt to encourage 3rd parties, and also increase the value proposition of the Pro.

All doesn't make financial or practical sense, but updating certain beloved first party titles to generate enthusiasm for the Pro is a good idea. Although, it seems like the enthusiasm is already there in the market.

Gears of War was shown behind closed doors at GDC 2005.....public screenshots were at or around the 360 launch IIRC.

In retrospect a lot of the E3 360 FUD from that era was from the opposing fanboys, who were still hellbent on believing that the 2005 Killzone 2 demo was reality and were eager to jump on an unimpressive slate of launch games. At the same time, Microsoft was still at least promising HD resolutions on every game.....not a more wishy-washy "Well let's see what developers want to do with this extra power".

But every game on the Xbox 360 wasn't HD. Many were under 720p, so what are you saying?

If you think AA is all downsampling does to an image than you have no idea what you're talking about.

Essentially this:

I think for some, it's good enough and not worth trading in and buying a system that costs $100 more to obtain better visual quality. It's just like how many people planning to get the Pro seem to think streaming video is good enough to not want to spend any more money for better quality.

I know it's not all it does, and it dramatically improves image quality, especially for games that would run at sub 1080 resolutions on a standard PS4... But saving 500 bucks here in Canada trumps the idea of upgrading if all I get is supersampling. I just wish "1080p mode" was a guarantee for every game.

Sony could have put more effort into making sure all the "big games" were patched up. Though they're probably just banking on the fact that everyone will just be playing the games out in Oct/Nov.

They made sure the most heavily bundled games were patched for it. Uncharted 4, TLoUR, and Blops III

ya, definitely don't know the power of supersampling. lol

Also, it's the choice between greater visuals, supersampling, and frame rate in 1080p, for $100 more than the slim. That's the choice people are making.

your disproportionate comparison says more about you than your argument.
