Princess Skittles said:Agreed, they probably just put the Mohammad stuff in there regardless of knowing they can't and let Comedy Central change/censor them before broadcast so it both makes them look like they're still standing up for themselves/rights AND it gives internet nerds something tangible to point their fingers at to rage on (that's not Matt and Trey).
My "conspiracy theory" on the subject.
But didn't CC itself confirm they added additional bleeps? Plus they restricted from it being shown on the internet, are using previous episodes in place of 201 reruns and gaffer that works on South Park confirms they were surprised by it. Additionally, now Super Best Friends has been taken down. It seems that there is no conspiracy and it indeed was censored further by CC. It's not the first time something like this happened too - in Cartoon Wars, though it had fit tone of the episode (well I guess just like the newest one), it is quite well known that the scene with Mohammed was censored by CC, not Matt and Trey.Princess Skittles said:Agreed, they probably just put the Mohammad stuff in there regardless of knowing they can't and let Comedy Central change/censor them before broadcast so it both makes them look like they're still standing up for themselves/rights AND it gives internet nerds something tangible to point their fingers at to rage on (that's not Matt and Trey).

...In fact, Kyle's customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn't mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too.
CassSept said:Edit: OH WAIT. I thought that the final speech being censored was actually a joke, and CC only censored out Mohammed's name. WTF
Of course it's not a conspiracy (that was a joke). I'm just saying/thinking that they submitted these episodes KNOWING that the Mohammad stuff was going to get axed before being broadcast. It makes them look good, it makes Comedy Central look bad (well, to some people, I guess) and it makes the entire situation look absolutely ridiculous to EVERYONE [/garyoldman]. It's like win/win/win for them to do it this way.CassSept said:But didn't CC itself confirm they added additional bleeps? Somebody get the shovels.
It was obvious that they would push further, like they've done in the past. It's not like someone being offended by them stopped them. Remember the whole scientology controversy? They followed it up by Super Adventure Club episode.Princess Skittles said:Of course it's not a conspiracy (that was a joke). Perhaps they didn't know just how far it would go with the bleeps this time, but they're smart enough dudes to know that after getting death threats, that continuing to push the buttons was going to have some sort of ramification.
Ya know, I think we're on two different thought trains here.CassSept said:It was obvious that they would push further, like they've done in the past. If someone is offended by them it just makes them push further. It's like, I don't know, a challenge for them. I'm not gonna even start mentioning how they used any religion in the past (especially christanity). I'd understand if all of this, all the controversy, the censorings etc would happen the first time, but it's not. The point being, this takes it to completely another level. Terrorists won this round, again. Terrorism isn't just suicide bombers or attacks, by having CC chickened because of their threats, they made terrorism work once again. The so-called free speech took another punch today and terrorists won another round. And it's definitely not the last time either.

the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.

No. The censor bar was part of the joke. Hence why it was funny when Tom Cruise had a censor bar over himself after absorbing Muhammad's goo.WordAssassin said:I wonder if it'll be on the DVD uncensored?
A friend told me he read in an interview that Matt and Trey said they were just going to put the episode out the way they wanted, and see what happened. You can tell, that there is actually Muhammad in the episode, and the censor bar is actually covering him, because there are times when the censor bar clips over things that are in the foreground, away from where his character would be standing.
As in, SPS didn't animate a censor bar as the character Muhammad, it was something that was put in on top of everything else.
You're talking about "201"? If they originally submitted the episode with Muhammad uncensored, then the whole scene with Tom Cruise acquiring the censored bar wouldn't make much sense.WordAssassin said:A friend told me he read in an interview that Matt and Trey said they were just going to put the episode out the way they wanted, and see what happened. Doubtful. Plus, I doubt any other networks would let them get away with what they get away with.Mr Cola said:This is twice now comedy central has pussed out, id be pissed if the network did it and im sure Trey and Matt are.
Time to shop south park around? Can they do that?
Do you think Matt and Trey are allowed to release text of the speech?Fidelis Hodie said:Yeah, big WTF.
And Kyle's final speech . . I don't think I'm allowed. :lol Sorry!

Yeah. This appears to be the end of South Park, according to Cartman's theoryDacvak said:Doubtful. Plus, I doubt any other networks would let them get away with what they get away with.
I just watched Cartoon Wars, and it's pretty funny how that show's plot almost directly correlates with what's happening in real life right now.
Yeah, I saw someone else suggesting that as well, saying that they should just add Mohammed to the boys' class so there's a giant censored-block in the back of the classroom every single episode from now on. :lolJak140 said:The only sensible solution is to feature Mohammed as a central plot point or make him part of the regular cast in every single remaining episode they are contractually obligated to make, which would force Comedy Central to spend money on a show they can only show in incoherent censored form or not at all unless they cave.
