South Park: The Stick of Truth |OT| Bigger, Longer, and Uncut (In select regions)

It's hard to laugh when you're extremely frustrated.

Edit: A training montage would have been 10x funnier and infinitely less frustrating.

I could see it being a joke if you had to do some complex, yet easy to do commands, but like you said, it's not funny when they're frustrating to do and could possibly lead to rage quits.

I am hesitating on whether to get the game today or next week, but I wanted to know: is there now an agreed upon average game length?
Under 20 hours I think is the best shot. I haven't heard of anyone actually breaking past this point.

EDIT: And I posted that before checking the "How long to beat" link. Yeah, now that statement's doubly reinforced.

As I just commented in another thread about a potential sequel, what I am appreciating more and more about this game is how timeless it is.

South Park fans in 20 years or more will still be able to load this game up and it will still look exactly right, not dated at all, because of how much Obsidian nailed the look of the show. They'll probably have to either still have a working Ps3/360 or be willing to do PC workarounds (same way people do today when playing PC games from the 90s), but once they do get it going it will still look just as good as any episode of the show.

And in an industry where our art too often can end up looking so dated to the point where it is unplayable (a lot of Ps1 games out there I used to love but just can't play anymore), that is a beautiful thing.

Also missing/would have been cool:.

* The Airport Hilton (with 1 of the conference setups)
* Quest chains to collect the main casts iconic costumes including: the 4 main standard outfits (the ones they always wear), mysterion, the coon, tool shed & the human kite - I was really hoping this would have been possible (ort least having the chance to just buy them)..

Great call.

If they somehow find the will to do a huge DLC pack or even a sequel,
Mysterion, Coon et al. would be the way to go. Aside from a few easter eggs they weren't a part of this game at all.

Man, the framerate on PS3 is just atrocious most of the time. How did they think this was acceptable when this game went gold? I'm still enjoying it, but damn does the choppiness get annoying.

That was one hard boss battle, more like side boss, but holy hell took me many retries to get it right.

Fuck you Al Gore! :p

"Annnd... it's gone."

Just beat it. Absolutely great game. Quality was consistent throughout which is rare these days.

It says that Jimmy can access shortcuts outside of battle. Where are they?
Any party member will be spoiled by the party member select screen by the way, so long as you can recognize the base design anyway.

Anyways,
he's handicapped so when you see that sign he can interact with it.

I've been using the beta client (for in home steaming) and an update today wouldn't allow me to start to game. It just kept trying to start over and over again. I reinstalled and checked my drivers and everything. I finally rolled back the steam client and bam it works again. Very strange.

One thing that kinda sucked *spoilers for after AL Gore is defeated and the next mission for AL Gore*
I expected the weapon you get from defeating Al Gore would have killed the ManBearPig instantly since it says something like that on the damn thing. Alas, it didn't work and kill em instantly... Sad Panda.....

Why is it impossible to do the S spam quick time events in this game? I couldn't do it on the toilets but now
I'm kidnapped and being anal probed by aliens but the second big dick in my ass I can't get past. I came close a few times but I'm not fast enough.

Think I read more people had this problem though.

So a few thoughts now that I've had more time to think on it since finishing the game...

1. No
Police guy. "The dragonborn will be the one to unite us all" from the trailer
annoyed me a little. Expected him to show up once or twice.

2. Ending spoilers:
The ending felt abrupt. No idea what happened to Kenny (assumed death) or that government guy that decided it'd be a good idea to get naked

3. I sort of wish we had some more cutscenes outside of the LARPing (though I understand the
school got shut down for a bit
), no one even bothered with the kids and their LARP mostly during the story.

4.
Randy just disappeared after his last appearance
, I also wish we saw more of (or in some cases saw them in general during the story):
Most of the boys parents. Kinda disappointed we never got a "WHAT WHAT WHAT" moment

Spoiler'd most things that could be considered a spoiler I hope. Fantastic game though and I hope it's not the last South Park game we get with Matt and Treys Involvement.

There's one I can think of:
the handicapped entrance at the school.

And yeah, the QTE's can get a bit too mashy, not sure if that was intentional, but damn, people are going to break controllers and/or fingers. :lol

Ignore Randy's "instructions" and do it the same way you did the others. The fart's trajectory is set, you have no control over that. Tune the fart to the highest frequency you can and then don't release until the prompt tells you to.

I wish I had saw this yesterday. This part was like my personal Sonic Casino Zone moment

So how replayable is this game? Is this a proper Obsidian RPG with at least a few varying routes through the story or is it more straightforward with not a lot changing between runs? Are there any scenes you can miss if you make certain choices?

I'm only about 5 hours in but I don't think much will change besides your characters look and a few moves. I'll still replay it though I think to get all achievements I missed.

Im at the clinic with
Randy.
How do I do the
last part of the abortion qte
on PC? I try left clicking but everytime I do i end up failing, what am I missing?

He is back as a party member in the post game. Butters mentions that he blamed his "post menstrual syndrome" for his actions

This was the part I was stuck at, and while I did it on a controller it's likely the same issue lies here:

The game told me to hold the L stick to the left, and so when it said "Press Right" I did that, went back to holding left, then tore his ball off. Eventually I realized that once I was told "Press Right" I'd HOLD it right until it said "Press Left", did so, and passed the QTE. So basically you need to switch back and forth as it tells you, not always hold it in the direction it initially said to.

There isn't much reason to replay it no.

Been enjoying the game so far. Only complaints so far are:

- I thought the learning fart mini-games were dumb till I realised that it's just the game doing a bad job of explaining them.
- Menu/UI stuff, like not recognising WSAD over the arrow keys(which was extremely dumb in the
DDR
bit. Also general menu navigation through all the clone items during battle and shop interface in regards to selling junk.
- Summon system is like saving the good weapons and not knowing when to use them or how many days there are just adds to that.

Playing a Thief, it's kind of jarring that half the time outside of weaknesses and abilities that stack bleed regular stuff and magic seem to do fuck all, unless I've missed something. Really enjoying the flow and humour of the game though, the uncensored scenes so far were pretty hilarious with the ultra hard minigame.

Where are the 5 pairs of underwear? I've found 4 and been to every house I can think of and only found 4...

Mrs. Cartman's Bedroom
Kevin Stoley's Bedroom
Stan's Bedroom
Stan's Parent's Bedroom

Yep it worked! Thanks man

Pretty sure you can find the last pair is in Kyle's bedroom when you unlock his house via the story, but I could be mistaken

I tried this after reading your post, but I couldn't get it to work.
trying to use jimmy's buddy ability on the handicap ramp on the side of the school near the goth kids
What am I doing wrong?

It's story-related.
You're required to use it when you revisit the school.

Honestly
thought that was the end of the game :D

Without any spoilers, does the game give you the option to align with Cartman/Kenny or Kyle/Stan? Or do you automatically get put with Cartman? Just wondering for replayability purposes.
