South Park: The Stick of Truth |OT| Bigger, Longer, and Uncut (In select regions)

To those that gave the keys out, you are "totally coo!" as Cartman would put it xD

I'll have to wait a couple weeks to pick this up. Hope everyone's having a great time!

Fair enough, my knowledge of the Eidos situation was flawed.
All thats left is to wait for the reviews really.

Riddick was indeed odd.
More people played the game then saw the movie iirc as well as some not even knowing the original source existed, pretty funny, good game nonetheless.
Well, it's definitely within stone's throw so far at least and it's probably one of the top three modern licensed games anyway, and for Riddick I never even saw that movie, though I saw Pitch Black afterwards.
How heavy is the toilet humor? How gross does it get?
Early game example, but
succeed in a QTE and you create a piece of poop to throw at enemies to inflict "gross out" and make them keep vomiting.
I think a good rule of thumb though is that if South Park the show is gross for you then you'll probably be grossed out by this game at some point anyway. If you can't handle that then probably best to step back.

It's pretty much always there when you're playing, but it didn't bother me one bit while I'm usually not really into that kind of humor. There's one level where you have to (big spoiler)
crawl into Mr. Slave's ass to save the world
which was incredibly funny, and other than that it's a fart joke every now and then and using your magical farts to progress through the game world.

GOAT!!!

check your PMs, pedro gonzales!

You're a star, Clydefrog. You deserved better from Cartman, you all did. ;)

My cat (and I) says thanks.

I've just realised that this is the US release only. Is there any way round that for us Europeans to play the game early? My hype levels are threatening to destroy my skull, but, at the same time, I've gone from not being able to play it for a few weeks to playing it potentially on the 7th. So, if there is no way round it, that's still a big win for me.

Is South Park out in certain regions or is there a way to unlock it? everyone keeps talking about it :< and the people in my list are playing it already D:

My god, this place...
Best community ever.

I really did think my cat had thwarted my attempts to play South Park. I was literally weighing up cat with sad, watery eyes to the vets or South Park : The Stick of Truth. If I was just 8% more evil, I'd have gone with South Park.

Can anyone tell me quickly if there is any use in keeping junk stuff? I have accrued alot in the first hour or so, can sell it for a fair amount, I know it says Junk but im wary to sell things that seem so specific in their description.

There's an achievement for not selling anything the entire game. Other than that there's no reason to keep it.

I searched online and discovered there was an achievement for selling 300 junk items. That HAS to be a sign it's OK to sell, at worst you'll get a giant pile of money and an achievement/trophy if you care about that.

So, either one of the combat tutorials are a strung out joke, or this is definitely an Obsidian game. Elves invade, get to last one, take out archer and can't do anything now. Shows Elven Protector at zero hp but standing and talking.

Question for console owners. Does the game require installation and is the game running at 1080p?

(Doesn't bother me either way) can't wait to pick this up!

Uggggh I shoulda' preordered when I had the money. I was gonna pick up a Steam card on my lunch break today and buy this but my boss called me in and said work is slowing down and I should probably start looking for a new job soon, so spending freeze is in effect immediately. Time to scour my library for trade-ins.

Do Steam bother with people using VPN to play games early? I know it's against the TOS, but is it something that they actively pursue users for, or do they turn a blind eye? I really need a South Park fix right now and the Black Friday trilogy can only go so far. I'm this close to burying myself under a pile of snow for three days.

As far as I know and I want this plastered on every game with a staggered release. Steam does not ban you for using a VPN to play a game only if you buy them through the VPN to get cheaper prices.

If you do the VPN thing and want to play on and off until Friday you have to go into offline mode, right? That or run the VPN each time. So basically run the game, Alt+Tab, go offline and close Spotflux?

no need for alt tab
1. close steam
2. use vpn
3. open steam, unlock game
4. set steam to offline mode
5. close vpn
6. only start steam in offline mode, play as much as you like

Seems to need an update when I switched to US region on VPN. It's taking forever, but I can't start the game till it goes through. Once that's done, I can switch to offline and play it later. I won't get much chance now, because I have to go out, but, still, I never expected that today I'd be playing South Park.

This game is so fun. I played it for 5 hours and barely even did any of the main story. I spent most of my time just walking around the town exploring and doing some side missions. Didn't even realize it was 3 AM.

You and me both buddy. You and me both.

I'm EU though so not expecting Steam to let me unlock it until Friday anyway.

Ouch. Stay strong, man. And thanks for putting things in perspective lol
I have to go to work soon anyway, so it's not like I'd actually be playing it...

After much tweaking, twerking and fiddling, I finally can play South Park. Region restrictions be damned. In terms of difficulty, how is normal and hardcore? I don't want the game to be a cakewalk, nor do I want it to be too frustrating. Anyone got anything to say about the difficulty levels so far?

Wait, this game doesn't feature pad support on pc? o_O

I can't get my pad to work.

Must be a problem at your end. Works fine for me. Using a 360 controller with wireless receiver.

Played 4.2 hours and just now started the 2nd quest. I call bullshit on the 10 hour playthroughs unless they just sprinted through the entire game and didn't take anything in.

Haha idk if it's glitched or what but I am totally stumped
in the school trying to bail Clyde out of detention. I need to get a brass key or a hall monitor key but I took out all of the hall monitors and they never dropped one and I've been searching around forever.

I can confirm that I was able to play my US version early here in Australia by using a VPN. Only played for 30mins then the Mrs wanted to go to bed so had to switch it off.
I tried putting steam on offline mode but when I loaded my steam library it said pre-load instead of play.
For now it seems like the only way I can play it is with the VPN on. I'm sure once the game is running I can probably disconnect, but I didn't try that.
I just hope I don't need the VPN after the Australian release date.

Did you disable the VPN after switching to Offline Mode? Also, you won't need the VPN when it unlocks in Australia.

I have been doing the same. Game is sooo effing fun. You won't need the VPN after the aussie release date, I did this for F1 2012 as well :).

Part of it, I suspect, stems from the nature of reviewing. Beat the game, write the review in time for the embargo, move onto the next game and rinse and repeat. It's not really how I play my games, I'm not rushing through them and with something like this, I want to saviour it, I want to get as much out of it as I can without bombing through it because of some deadline. I'm not in a rush to "beat" a game, I just want to enjoy it. That said, 10-15 hours is fine by me, particularly in the context of such a humour heavy game.
