EDIT: Part 2 of 3 video has been uploaded.

Well, that was a waste of time.

And i don't think Silent Hill was about being scary as fuck so you can't even play it, it had a dreadful atmosphere, but it was never about cheap scares, more psychological horror, you felt a big despair while playing it.

Being scary just to make you jump off your seat is not what was silent hill about, you never screamed in front of the screen like those reaction videos from Slender or something, will really disappoint me if it will turn out to be like that.

Which is why i'm not as stoked by Kojima doing it as everyone else is tbh.

Also, Stubborn Sheep :D

I hope this is just PR talk, all that "SCARY TILL YOU SHIT YOUR PANTS" is NOT Silent Hill, I hope he will focus about creating that disturbing and dreadful atmosphere instead of creating BOO moments, this will suck hard, I don't need another Indie-horror style shit in my Silent Hill.

So just out of interest, lads, how far into the future does the release date go before you get pissed?

It's projected to be Q4 2014. In that case, Konami's fiscal Q4 is in January through March. There was speculation on a March 17th release in 2015, but there is still hope it'll be that month.

I'm hoping to see GZ out on PC very soon. It's already completed, and it's developed on a multiplatform engine. I can see GZ out in November. TPP in March 2015.

Better be able to turn that PVP infiltration shit off -- I'll get the trophy related to it and never touch it again. If I want to go after other players, I'll stick to MGO.

GTFO of my singleplayer.

So if I'm understanding correctly, you can invade other players bases and be invaded in return, kinda like the Soul Series, correct?

That's amazing and something that will no doubt offer even more replayability to this game. But how does it work? Will I get a warning that I'm being "invaded" if I'm on the field doing missions? Will I be able to fast travel to defend my place? Will it break the flow of the game, by making you constantly go back and forth or will it only happen when you're idle inside your base, with it acting like a matchmaking lobby of sorts?

The idea is good, but I'm not too keen on the idea of gathering all these resources and hardware only to have them stolen by some other player and getting back to square one. Sure you can invest on a lot of security but any player worth his salt will deal with anything you throw at them with relative ease. Not to mention fultoning and reflex mode that seem to break the game a lot.

At least in the Soul Series you had a choice on whether or not you wanted to get invaded without having to forfeit the online features. And even if you did get invaded, you didn't really lose anything - just had to go back and pick it up - and the player had to beat you, fair and square. Cheesing the AI is easier than ever with reflex.

This is basic Kojima - fun, intriguing and confusing at the same time.

Yea... they have not been really detailed on this. I dunno how it would work, and i would not like to be disturbed when playing SP.

Gameplay on SlashGear will be split into 3 parts, each of them captured from the live stream. They will NOT be the same low-quality filmed at the event video you're seeing earlier in the thread - they're not perfect, but they're pretty good for a stream.

Konami said they will show "major advances"

They showed the same mission again just taking a different route.

Ah well, next stop: TGS

The pvp stuff is pretty cool and I'm interested in what you can do with your base, but I agree with wanting to turn it off. I don't want other players stealing my shit.

All I want to know is if I can tranq the enemies in their exposed faces while they're wearing helmets.
Invisible shield over the rest of their head like Peace Walker would upset me.

As for the base invasion stuff, I think I'm going to find it annoying when trying to play through the story missions.

Edit: Though after that, everyone is getting all of their resources jacked.

I'm curious about base infiltration. In the demo they showed the guy using the Phantom Cigar. Seeing as the time-acceleration seems to be on the player's end, does that imply base infiltration is an offline affair? I'm only saying this because it would be pretty awkward to being hanging around in your base, in singleplayer, then have the time suddenly fast forward on you. I hope that isn't the case because then all you'd have to do is avoid the AI guards and security, I'd rather have a mode where it's more like a game of cat and mouse.

at this point... i would not be surprised if the game falls on to Q4 of 2015 tbh.

If the game is that far away, why the hell would they announce Silent Hills so early then? also didn't the translator guy said they're giving TPP the final touch right now?

I doubt you would actually be able to interact with the other player.

You will probably just get a notification that the other player infiltrated your base and took x amount of resources.

Oh man. A near-mute Big Boss. :(
I'm really bummed out about this. What's the point in hiring someone for a more emotional performance if he's hardly going to speak.

I know Kojima said in an interview that Boss's lines will go from something like "Kaz, you ok?" to just "Kaz." and the rest to be conveyed via his facial expressions but come the fuck on.

I agree... but then.. this would've been the correct timing to announce a release date.

That FB post also got it right.

I am hoping its not the case. But at this point count me as skeptical. It'll come out when it comes out. But as of right now, i have no clue when that would be.

SH... i think is a proof of concept that they polish up and released. I think it works, and i am sure it has not been that long in development. Maybe a year? a little bit more?

What about if it's a good video game? Will that buck the trend of the recent Silent Hills not being about being good games too?

lol yeah, he really fucking said that. Man this will piss off a lot of people.

I still believe in early 2015 aka march 2015.

Woudn't you consider this more as in not much talking during gameplay? Kojima did state that gameplay is king in this one, and that he doesn't want to take the control away as in previous titles. We see plenty of talking and interactions in cutscenes, and some dialogue over codec. But i think it'll have a good balance. I didn't mind at all during GZ. I actually enjoyed the quiet.

So the gamespot article that leaked basically everything early did point out something interesting: How is Kojima going to explain multiple "Snake" characters infiltrating each others mission?

What if the venom snake we play as, is really some other clone of Big Boss somehow. And maybe there were MANY clones made that we don't know about. AND what if they even tried to clone Big Bosses memories / age somehow which is why the player character actually thinks he is Big Boss. Ocelot mentions something about "being reborn", so what if Cipher or someone else tried to make clones of Big Boss other than the ones we know about.

I just feel like there is more to the Venom Snake we see in the gameplay demos and trailers. - Or I could be completely wrong and it actually is Big Boss.

To add one last thought, maybe the player character is actually Big Boss, and you are "infiltrating other clones" bases or something like that.

Any thoughts on an explanation to multiple snakes infiltrating each others bases? If its somehow tied into the single player portion of the game and making mother base, it seems weird that they would just ignore the fact that Snakes are fighting other Snakes.

Well yeah we'll see about that, or maybe translator guy translated it rubbish...

I gotta say i feel kinda bad for him, he tries but doesn't really do a good job when you compare it to Bill the translator of Miyamoto for example... :/

The new Mother Base gameplay is frickin' awesome! And as far as Afghanistan goes, I kinda liked the new gameplay better than the one showed at E3.

Agreed... i think a lot of what he was saying didn't make much sense. They really need a better transcript person.

Maybe we can get someone to expand on this that knows good Jap.

I hope you can turn this off, so immersion breaking when an identical Snake turns up from a nearly identical base to raid my resources.
