Spencer: Scorpio targets requirements of high-end costumers - means a higher price

So more then the S? Who would have thought..
Premium or not. Dont think they wanna burn their hands again at the 500 dollar pricetag.
 
My guess would be $499 but who knows considering we have no idea what's actually going to be in this box.
 
I like this because it tells me they're committed to delivering on that 4K promise. At this point I'm expecting 12GB RAM minimum.
 
I'm glad people are starting to realise that the reason Spencer keeps saying this is to prepare people for it being the most expensive console on the market. If it was going to be the same price as the Pro, he'd indicate that, instead he keeps trying to justify an unannounced higher price on a 'premium' product.

As time goes by, hardware gets cheaper and so does new hardware release if they made it this year it would have been more expensive.
Next year the hardware should be cheaper
 
My guess:

Xbox One 199$
Xbox Two (scorpio) 399$
 
Most powerful console being the most expensive...dont think we expected it to be cheaper than the PS4Pro or Switch.
 
Going to be between $400-500. Honeslty doubt it will be $400, Im expecting $500 but hoping for $450. Also hoping Brexit doesnt screw us over too much when it comes to gaming.
 
You all underestimate how low MS willing to go for Windows 10 install base.
Spencer is clearly managing expectation so that he can shatter it next E3. $349 or lower.
 
Are we talking high end like, expensive designer costumes? Or wardrobe supervisors for Hollywood?

If they go high they need to bundle in some nice stuff to make up for it. A year or two of Xbox Live, an Elite Controller (I doubt they cost all that much to make) and a couple of game codes wouldn't break the bank for MS and would absorb some of the sticker shock.

Some random Xbox staffer comes to a lone mic. Taps on it and says "$299", and walks away.

I'd be surprised to see that, given that the system will almost certainly be marketed towards the kind of XBO owners that already bought an Elite controller.

I am still in $400 boat.

Thats how they win over gamer, and no one would expect them to deliver such a great value after $500 E3 2013 announcement.
 
Isnt this the third time he has hinted at a premium price? Seems they don't want people to get sticker shock,. I think this thing is going to start at $499 or higher...

Large amount of people just prefer console experience, it's as simple as that.

My guess is $499. And that's honestly fine if the value is there in terms of performance, I don't think anyone can argue against it.
 
jeez i was expecting $399/£350, if it really is more than the Pro this thing is DoA everywhere but US and UK, and even in those markets it'll be tough as the XBO has only been selling because of the constant price drops, bundles and gift cards.
 
The 2 tb gears of war bundle is 450$
The scorpio will not come with 500gb o 1tb.
If they keep saying its the most powerful console ever they cant price it like the pro. The price needs to reflect its power so 499 is the minimum.

I don't know, I'm sure I am not alone in being ready to trade up from an S to a Scorpio and an Elite controller.

Also, the scorpio's selling point is gonna be 3rd party games that run better than the pro. So the difference needs to be noticeable, sony will have better 1st party and japanese support.

For that difference to be recognized the scorpio needs to be way more powerful than the pro, almost pc quality. So again the price will be higher than people anticipate. This console wont be cheap at all.

It would be a wasted opportunity if they dont throw in an elite controller if they go $500+... an elite controller could make the price a little more palatable
 
PS4 Pro was same price as the original PS4, so my guess is the Scorpio will be same price as the original Xbox One.

They can't make it too expensive if they want to compete with the Pro but it won't be really cheap with it being a premium console either.
 
I think it's sad that $499 is already being snubbed as 'too expensive'. This is a premium Xbox which actually mostly lives up to the name. 6TF, 12GB RAM, UHD Player, potentially new CPU.

We just cant have nice things. And the people who whinge about the price are no doubt the same ones who complain when their console isn't powerful enough a couple of years down the line.

Of course it would be nice if it does come in a fair bit cheaper, but that seems unrealistic to me. Console gamers suck!

They're not expecting massive sales initially, hence the focus on premium, they're prepared for it.
 
I was of the mind that Scorpio would launch at $399, but based on this just now I'll tack on $100 more. Scorpio will launch at $499.

Better not be more.
