Spider-Man 3 is underrated

I just don't understand the hate for ASM, it's like the other movies but nearly every aspect is better.

Raimi's movies have awful CGI (even for the time), dull lifeless scripts and an appalling cast. Maguire and Dunst are just awful.

At least ASM is a competent popcorn flick, Raimi's movies are borderline inept. They are almost saved by J.K. Simmons but not quite.

I agree. I could never stand Maguire or Dunst. Both are awful personalities.

I obviously lack the mental capacity to board this ship. It's over my head. I'm not out to change opinions as I don't have the power to do so, but it's just not something I'm ever going to understand. =\

same i enjoy ASM and had no idea the levels of hate for it. its no better than a movie that was a joke? one that makes me pretty darn comfortable and females run

I enjoy the whole trilogy equally. I remember leaving the theaters after each movie and having that same feeling of wanting to be spidey.

I thought ASM was much better than any of the Raimi movies. I know this isn't a cool opinion, but I don't care.

ASM >>>> SM2 >> SM1 >>>>>>>>>>>> SM3

ASM is definitely better. I'm convinced that the original Raimi films just get by on nostalgia, and ASM is unfairly treated because there is some sort of narrative about it being "unnecessary" (throw in some resentment that it isn't part of the MCU too).

I remember Spider-Man 1&2 being amazing. But a few days ago I watched Raimi's first and ASM back to back. ASM is a vastly superior film, and a vastly superior Spider-Man film.

As far as I'm concerned, the only good thing in SM3 is J Jonah Jameson's 3 minute skit where he is constantly interrupted trying to take his pills.

That's it.

The original is just as bad as the third one. I watched it a couple of months ago and I can't believe it took me so long to realize how shitty Tobey is as Peter Parker. There's absolutely nothing cool about him He's a loser that lets people walk all over him. His stupid faces and lines are also groan worthy. Furthermore, the Green Goblin looks like a shitty Power Rangers' baddie reject.

SM2 is the only good one.

Yeah the original film hasn't aged well. The origin part was fine but it goes downhill once the Green Goblin comes up, just so corny, even for a superhero film.

SM3 is a clusterfuck but an enjoyable one.

I enjoyed watching 1 and 2, but 3 was just too ridiculous. I like Topher Grace, I think he is a great actor, but he should have never been Eddie Brock. Venom's appearance was too short, which is understandable considering how many villains they tried to cram together. It would've worked much better had they just had a glimpse of Venom at the end, without seeing the new host.

Plus, that emo Peter... That was just terribad. I can appreciate that they tried to make light of it (in a sort of comedic way), but they went past that into silly.

ASM was a very, very entertaining experience. I look forward to ASM 2. However, SM 1 and 2 are and will remain part of my blu-ray collection.

Bullshit. There was nothing even comparable at the time.
I disagree.

I remember looking at the trailers thinking "wow, why does this look like a cheap FMV from a PS1 game?"
I agree. I could never stand Maguire or Dunst. Both are awful personalities.
Exactly.

Stone and Garfield are both far more attractive, charismatic and believable actors. Plus, they seem to have at least a modicum of chemistry with each other, as you'd expect being a couple. Dunst and Maguire actually looked bored by each other the whole time.

It's trash. Gaffers should channel their unwarranted negativity for great movies like The Hobbit 2, Pacific Rim, Prometheus, and The Amazing Spider-Man toward movies that really deserve it, like Spider-Man 3.

Garfield is as spon on with Parker as Hugh Jackman is to Wolverine. Stone as Wendy is pretty awesome -- I'm a little sad she is not Mary Jane though. Gwen was pretty big in Peter's life though, so I am not complaining too much.

Yeah their "relationship" is painful to watch in the 2nd movie. Shame Doctor Octopus didn't drop her off a building.

Well... ASM is better than SM1/3... But doesn't touch nor can hold a candle to SM2. SM2 is superior in every way. Best superhero flick to date.. well, TWS is a great contender for that title as well.

What is TWS?

And you really thought SM2 was that much better than the other two? It was an improvement for sure, but I wouldn't say it was next level shit. It was similar in quality to the first one, just with more money poured on it.

2 is fairly mediocre, 1 is pretty poor, 3 is just swill. IMO.

You know that guy who killed your uncle after you let him escape? Yeah, it wasn't him. It was this other guy over here.

One of these things is not like the others.

*COUGH* Pacific Rim! *COUGH*

Of course SM2 is not perfect or exempt of silliness (or truly great by general movie standards), but as far as superhero movies is concerned, it's some of the best we've gotten. It also benefits from a having bit of the director's voice in it.

I recently saw Spider-Man 3 too and, while I remembered it being not that good, I honestly quite enjoyed it this time.

I haven't seen ASM because it looked awful, but just because that was awful and maybe, possibly worse than SM3 (which I honestly don't believe is possible), it doesn't retroactively make this turd any better.

Looks guys, I know you aren't high on the new Spider-Man movies, but you need to take a moment, look in the mirror and ask yourselves if this is the path you really want to go down.

You're at a turning point here. I don't know if there's any going back from it. Just sayin'

Besides taking Spider-Man 1 and 3 into account, it's obvious 2 being good was a total fluke!
Muhahaha!

possibly worse than SM3 (which I honestly don't believe is possible),

It really, really isn't. GAF hyperbole strikes again. At worst, it's a mediocre reboot with little in the way of new ideas. Garfield makes a good Spider-Man though, and there's lots of potential for future installments once they shake off the origin story dreariness.

It never, ever reaches even the highest low of SM3.

I was forced to watch SM3 multiple times a day working at blockbuster when they got Blu-Ray kiosks.I have probably seen it more times than anyone ever should and I will say this. Anything about the story and dark Peter was awful, but the actual actions scenes in SM3 were very well done. Long steady tracking shots with clear action. I wish more action movies were shot the way SM3 was.

SM2 >>>>>> SM1 >>> SM3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ASM1

Yeah, his fights with Sandman are actually pretty great, and the tag team battle at the end has some neat stuff in it.

This was my favourite thing to come out of Spider-Man 3.

just to weigh in
SM 2>>>SM1>SM3>>ASM
i'll take an entertaining train wreck with some salvageable gold over a soulless husk that just gets by. nostalgia my butt

He's a nervous teenager about to tell someone a massive secret. I don't see the problem with him acting like a nervous person.

At least he never read poetry at someone like a moron.

You are good people.

I've stuttered around girls before.

Raimi Spider-Man GAF would hate me in a movie :-(

I liked it, its only issue was Venom, which should have been saved for the 4th film. Still was better than that steaming pile of shit ASM

I don't see how anyone enjoyed ASM. It looked like crap aesthetically and everything about it was so dry and boring. I had more fun watching paint dry
