Splatoon 2 |OT2| From Smallfry to FlyFish in 5 Easy Steps!

Looks like they prepare some special weapons for SR this weekend?

Oooooh! Maybe they'll surprise us with four new weapons this week? :D
I've been super eager for the
Hydra splatling
because while the heavy splatling is nice, I want the most ridiculously huge weapon I can possibly carry (plus it has superb kits on both versions that the heavy splatling wishes it had) and the
Dark Tetra Duelies
because they look like a weapon that got lifted straight from Phantasy Star Online (plus the quad mechanic sounds intriguing... plus, hey, nice kit)

Official announcement here:

https://splatoonus.tumblr.com/post/165299606129/we-received-an-urgent-notification-from-grizzco

We received an urgent notification from Grizzco Industries:
“Due to…uh….tentacle difficulties, the weapons for the Salmon Run shift that starts Friday, September 15th at 5PM PT will be unknown until you clock in. And also, one of my personal belongings was accidentally mixed in to the weapon pool. If you happen to come across it, don’t even think about stealing it or go blabbing to the media about it. Failure to comply is grounds for immediate termination.”

Interesting, the translation I'd seen from the Japanese tweet on reddit didn't specify that Mr. Grizz' "personal item" would be one of the weapons. With that in mind I have to imagine it's either a Grizzco version of a weapon not yet released (like the
squeezer or one of the dualie variations
) as a sort of preview, or some particular event-only weapon that wouldn't make sense in normal multiplayer.

I know that's one of the "extended" 30-hour blocks but I hope it's not long before whatever this is comes up again. It'd kinda suck if someone can't make this one shift to miss out on something so different.

Sounds nice and interesting, I hope it'll be the same in EU...

Looks like it:

Playing my first few matches on my euro version with us account (that shouldn't have an impact if I understood correctly) was... underwhelming to say the least. We are talking several minutes wait time when you don't simply get a time out and back to menu.
Is the game less successful than in Japan ? Or maybe I should avoid playing it during schools hours.
Not totally in love but I like the fact that it is not a pure skill / deathmatch thing.

What choose the region? It's the game, no?

I'm in France and I never spend more than 10 seconds waiting for a match, at any time of the day (including middle of the night).

I'm pretty sure the game take the ping into account, and in that case, it may just because you're too far from the region to find people with a low enough ping...

I honestly have a hard time believing you can consistently find matches in under 10 seconds. How often do you actually play?

Daily. Maybe 15 (I haven't counted) but really, it's fast.

:( What were you playing this morning? I've only done SR, but I was getting teams ASAP.

I thought it's impossible but just played a SR match that wave 1 and wave 3 were both mothership wave. One was normal tide and one's low tide.

You gave me an excuse to do a quick Salmon Run session...

Wait time (from the start of the "looking for teammates" message to the last player locking it, not counting the loading afterwards) were:
9s, 6s, 14s, 4s, 11s and 5s...

(Profeshionnal, ~100, ~220x payment)

These SR weapons aren't the fastest but they sure pack a punch.
I hate the Spattling (seems weak, short and low rate of fire, I must do something wrong) and the roller is really an awful one for not begin a 1HKO for common enemies...

Still not an awful set overall...

Well I'm starting out so the 'beginner mode', maybe it has a lower population and a lot of people play ranked.

You only need four players for salmon run. Do you play the other modes?

God I am so fucking sick of getting paired with morons who don't know how to do Goldie Seeking. Next time I'm just going to immediately disconnect so I don't put in all that fucking effort for lazy assholes.

I wouldn't be surprised AT ALL that being "beginner" makes matchmaking far slower. Since the game match people depending on their level, and keeping a high level is easy, there probably isn't hundreds of people available at a given time.

The games aren't always great either with people that start the mode...

The good news is that things will probably be better soon, both for matchmaking speed and challenge of waves (in a good way at least).

Yes, though mostly ranked solo (currently A for all three). It's slightly longer to reach 8, but not by a wide margin, pretty sure the average is still under 15s. The couple times I went Turf Wars, it didn't seemed noticeably longer.

Matchmaking is longer during Splatfests, though, but that's not new.

I don't play with other people (I'd wish to, but my availability is random, and I'm not sure I won't be a awful teammate if I play with GAFfers), so I can't speak about this.

That still happens when you're >200x? I haven't seen a Goodie seeking wave going wrong for a lot of time, but maybe I'm lucky. It's still not a wave that will bring 25+ eggs, though :(

I seem to always get paired with people who obviously got carried to Profreshional and proceed to fuck up the game.

Kelp Dome coming back is so fucking awesome. The best post-release DLC Splatoon 1 map deserves to be the first old map coming back.

Snapper Canal looks cool. Curious when we'll get another info dump for maps because from this weekend on it's all unknown what we're getting!

Tent Brella looks cool but will probably inevitably fall off with usage like the Splat Brella did. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Frankly the best part of any map announcement is the fact that it means Musselforge and Moray Towers will both be showing up less frequently as a result.

Me when a player is keeping a Golden egg, shooting at ennemies without moving and the timer is finishing, while the friggin basket where he/she sould put that egg is super close :

Kinda how I feel when someone is guarding a single egg when there's 5 bosses and all the other players on the other side of the map.

I've been returning more and more to Splatoon 1. Reason: much less grinding. By lvl 20 I have done grinding and enjoying the game in full. At level 22 in the sequel I'm still nowhere near grinding 'retirement' - it's still 8 more levels to unlock weapons, my sub slots are a complete mess, etc. Splatoon 2 is the decisively grindy-er game.

I found Splatoon 1 far more grindy for slots...

Also, I wonder if it's really that longer to reach 30 is S2 than 20 in S1, with the 2x and1.5x tickets.

The come this way spam is the cherry on the top.

Btw does anyone know how long it takes to reach level 50 in Splatoon 1? I am currently level 25 and i wanna reach 50 before Miiverse closedown in November is that possible at all? Kinda want to finish the game fully 1 because i am getting a tattoo of the Squid Sisters and 2 the community was awesome so i wanna do it before miiverse is down and finally 3 i just can't live with it lol never reaching max level i still find the game fun to play so i am not forcing myself.

Latest Top 10 Weapons from Top 10 Teams in Japanese League Mode, from period 08/09/17 to 14/09/17 (DD/MM/YY).

The V1.3.0 Patch has caused some big shakeups, including Ttek being dethroned from #1 spot by the Vanilla Splattershot, SLoshing Machine rising all the way to #2, and Gold Aerospray now being meta at #4 thanks to the Baller buffs. Other Baller weapons like Luna and .52 saw big gains, whilst old classics like NZap, Rapid, and Jr remain in the Top 10.

On the other end of the spectrum... the two least used weapons to break Top 10 in League are...

Things can get hectic with the bubbler. Had a game recently with splatzones on the reef where me, another teammate, and someone on the other team all at once used it and there were bubbles flying all over the zone and it splatted so many.
