Splatoon Direct - 7th May 2015

Even if somehow the gameplay ends up lacking, this might be a purchase for me akin to Jet Set Radio Future, where I'll find myself enjoying just about everything else about the game to justify the purchase.

Then again I have a penchant for aquatic/marine stuff. YMMV

I'm interested in what they have to announce about Splatoon, but I'm also hoping they end the direct with one last bit of Inkling-related news:

If Sakurai retweets the direct at 4 am next Thursday I might literally have a heart attack.

I want a demo, because I'm still undecided about this.

I'm the opposite. As much as I want this game, I feel like I'd play a demo to absolute death in anticipation, and it could dampen my excitement for May.29th. I'd be more supportive of a day 1 demo.

...because I have no self control!

Direct rumours sound good, but a little bit of the workings of fanboy dreams. A direct has never really leaked.

that rumor sounds too good to be true so im calling bullshit. plus i own all those 5 games so i def don't want it to be real :(

I'm down for a demo tho cause I'm not too sure I'll be getting this day one. I want to try it first.

I have no self control. I was kind of joking, a demo would be great.

I don't think there's any reason to believe the rumor.

That being said, I'm all for Sunshine stages.

Just give me Delfino Plaza in its entirety.

The original source is a 3 post topic on 4chan...

Also. From the Splatoon twitter update topic.

It's Phoenix Wright, a well-known troll on Google+. He's the one who came up with the lolastic rumour about the April 1st Nintendo Direct. His page is literally filled with troll rumours. So yeah. Not thread-worthy.

...that all sounds believable to me.

Let it happen please. Though it would irk me that I already have all those games being offered as a bonus if true lol.

... all that sounds believable to you...? don't be so naive, if something is too good to be true its most likely fake. the two most realistic things about that is the added amiibo support and a mario sunshine level. I would've said the demo but nintendo doesn't make too many of those for that to sound all that believable(as much as I'd like it to be true)

I just realized the direct is on Thursday, not Friday! Amazing! That's right after finals.

I hope they go into detail about every aspect of online mode...

Nintendo announcing DLC three weeks before release of the main game sounds believable? Nintendo announcing the actual content of a DLC three weeks before the main game sounds believable?

This "leak" was discussed in one of the of the Splatoon threads here. Apparently, it's origin is from a Google+ troll poster.

Has there ever been any accurate leaks about the contents of a Nintendo Direct?

Only in regards to indie stuff.

Though there were retailer listings which blew release dates and amiibo announcements for May this year before the last one

However, leaks akin to this? No. Nintendo keep their hand close to their chest.

Don't go in expecting the world from this Direct. We don't need another Xenoblade X Chronicles type ordeal where people over-hyped it for no reason.

N64 virtual console on April 1st Direct. Then again the leak stated several other things that weren't true so maybe it was pure luck.

They had said N64 Virtual Console was coming for the Wii U since January 2013. Just because it said that it was coming doesn't mean it was a legitimate leak

Yeah, people need to temper expectations and maybe even prepare for doom :p

Once again, no Nintendo Direct has ever leaked ahead of time ever

That just happened with the April 1st Nintendo Direct. The leak wasn't 100% on, but there were too many dead-on elements for it to have been guessing.

Edit: Covered already. But yes, that was a leak, even though it botched some things.

That "leak" was just a conglomeration of lucky guesses based on what we had known going in.

It was not a leak

It really wasn't a leak. Just because they made some lucky guesses based on stuff we knew was coming does not make it a leak.

People were guessing Nintendo 64 Virtual Console for every direct since it was announced like two years ago. That's not a leak.

I hit to edit my post before your reply appeared; you don't need to say it twice.

It wasn't just the VC. And at the very least, it proves that some things did leak (Pokémon Rumble World, Amiibo Tap VC games) that were in the Direct.

But don't mistake me for defending this Splatoon rumor, I was only replying to the statement in general. I'm not arguing this discussion any further... because I can't. You two both seem deadset on the concept that a Nintendo leak can't happen. Anything that hits the mark is guessing.

Pokémon Rumble World was known due to an Australian certification rating on March 17th 2015
Amiibo Tap was detailed to us in the Investor Meeting in January.

The stuff he got right was stuff that was known to us beforehand and was logical to be within it.

Not that it can't happen, but that it hasn't. A leak would be completely correct with no errors. Any "leak" so far has had some correct stuff and some wrong stuff, which doesn't make any sense if the direct was, in fact, leaked beforehand

Right (I Googled it before posting that), and it wasn't announced until the Nintendo Direct. Therefore, it was an intended to be announced in the Nintendo Direct. That's a leak.

Amiibo Tap was detailed to us in the Investor Meeting in January.

That is true, but the rumor nailed the announcement timing (which was not specified in the Investor Meeting). You could chalk that one up to a guess, I grant. But in combination with hitting some of the other marks, there was an awful lot of smoke in one place just a few days before the Direct hit.

But I'm talking to a wall here.

I admit that the Rumble World classification was a leak, but it wasn't that Direct leak.

As for Amiibo Tap, we actually had the timing from the investor meeting. It was for release in Q2 2015, so logically it would have been in that Direct.
