This must be a fake, Nintendo would never announce a Direct a full week in advance!
j/k, I am expecting massive amounts awesomeness!
I always wondered if they'd do a demo for this game. Considering this direct is on a Thursday morning, will we see a demo on the eShop after the direct.
Makes me wish NoE also streamed on YouTube... and I know they definitely can : /
Maybe Nintendo should be in the title.........?
Not buying a Wii U cause Zelda is an NX game, so not really hyped for this.

Nintendo are going to line up all the politicians against a wall and shoot them. They will use blue ink for Tories, Red for labour etc etc
There still is nothing official, but I think there's 90% probability that the answer to both your questions is negative. The main online multi mode, turf war, relies heavily on touch screen and gyro controls. Players using the Pro controller would be severely disadvantaged so... Even having 2 local players in an online match would require nintendo unlocking dual gamepads support, which is unlikely.I have stated in another thread but I really hope they cover two things:
Can I use a Pro Controller to play all game modes?
Is it possible for a friend and I to painlessly hook up and participate in matches online together?
My purchase is riding on the answer to both of these questions. If I am forced to use the un-ergonomic, heavier Gamepad then forget it. If my friend and I can't easily hook up then it defeats a lot of the appeal and I won't buy.
Hmmm, I'd like to jump on the hype train but I think will there be anything revealed here we don't already know? I feel like the only thing left is to play the damn game.

Your not serious right? We don't even know if NX is a handheld or console.
NX won't be out before 2017.Maybe Nintendo should be in the title.........?

Wow, they announced this... early. For a ND anyway.
1. No info on that yet. I would like to presume the odds are looking up after the recent local multi announcement but don't get your hopes up just yet.
I will be so bummed if I can't use the Pro Controller. The gamepad is uncomfortable in its own right, but then to needlessly put crucial information on it that forces me to take my eyes off the TV irritates me. Functionality that could very easily be put on the TV and accessed with the Pro Controller. Forced for the sake of justifying the poorly conceived Gamepad. There still is nothing official, but I think there's 90% probability that the answer to both your questions is negative. Damn, I was just calling it earlier this day.
So, GIF-Time, I guess?

Mario Kart 8 at least smartened up and let us take the map off the pad and put it on the TV where it belongs. I love the concept, design and almost everything else Splatoon has going for it. I have my fingers crossed so hard that the Pro Controller is supported, or becomes supported at a later date.
Your avatar is amazing s2The Splatoon Iwata Asks is going to be amazing
Oh god! xDYes!

I'd like to think that the main reason Nintendo have been touting the Wii U pad is because of the gyro capabilities, particularly having mentioned that using gyro as vertical aim is there to make it easier for those not accustomed to third person aiming. I'd like to think that there's going to be a setting to turn the gyro off though, if only because that's how Nintendo's usually done it.
As for the Pro Controller, the only game I can think of on the Wii U that has the Pro Controller as a mandatory multiplayer controller but isn't usable outside of it is Sonic Lost World. If it's not available though then... well, I guess there's hope for a patch since NSMBU did the same.
Granted the downside of playing without the pad is not being able to have the map and the ability to superjump to a location, which might weigh down your team. In that context I might understand why Nintendo chose to forego it's usage online since it means you're playing with a disadvantage, while for 1v1 stuff it's most likely just disabled. It's why I'm just hoping that you can switch to full analog on the pad rather than relying on gyro since I'd still like to do that ability while still having full control.
They confirmed you can disable gyro. I think it is a setting you can change on the fly or something. Sooo good and all this "possible demo"-talk got me even more hyped!
By the way - since this is the more active Splatoon thread and quite a coincidence considering the Direct announcement - if you're anything like me and have been looking for Splatoon apparel, TheYetee are offering two Splatoon designs as today's tee. They also come in a limited edition tanktop variety.

These are only available today, as in, for the next 13 hours.
