Sealed copy should be just fine, imo.
If you see the retailer hesitate just say : it was a gift and the person didn't wanted it anymore.
If he is not a jerk, he should refound you since it's sealed.
You may try your luck at Best buy since they announced on NA website that it will be a special for people who're late to buy Splatoon.
I hope for you they will still have the amiibo

My local ones had them at both I'm told (and sold quick, but not as fast as the smash ones). Your results may vary, some of the stores here in NH got only 3 in of the 3-pack, apparently.

NoE gives an eShop discount on the full game for anyone with the demo version. Otherwise, nothing.

Yeah I noticed that too. Actually it was a double "neat" for me that you can instantly cycle through with L/R and the animation that went with it.
Kind of makes you wonder how well Wonderful 101 would have done had they actually told people that the game exists.

Do you think this game would be a good intro to someone that has never played a shooter?
The game we needed yet didn't deserve. I still feel like in spite of that game's high skill ceiling, it could have gone down better than it did if it was advertised.
It was put out in a time when the world was still reeling from The Avengers and the super hero hype was at it's highest. A game that marketed all that insane action and emphasized the whole "the 101th person is really you" is such a cheesy shtick it'd probably go home super well with certain audiences.
I'm happy that Nintendo are doubling down on Splatoon though.
You can join randoms or a friend's game, however the friend game doesn't let you always be on their team. In August more robust friend options are coming.
Not really an option (the resending bit) since that would mean I'd have to send the amiibo's back as well (as they're part of that same order).
I was also thinking they might scan the game, but at the same time, I could have bought it in a different store or something...?
As long as the game does not have a unique code (as in one unique code per copy) that needs to match up with the receipt, I should be in the clear.
Anyway: it's too late now as my gf already picked a copy up I've just heard. I'll just approach this as an interesting experiment that might end up with me having two copies...or I'll leave my store-bought copy sealed for now just in case...

Yes, it's the less stressful shooter there is. You can just paint in calmer places if you want without being decimated in 2s. Plus the 6h single player mode will ease you into it.

Definitely. I like it more than cod and battlefield already. Wish there more maps and quicker matchmaking though.

Beat Hero Mode. It was so fun. Took me about 3.5 hours. Some of the Sunken Scrolls are hidden well. I wanted to get the gear you unlock since they have more stars. The final boss is amazing.

You can't buy clothes again and all clothes are fixed in terms of what main ability and the amount of stars they have.

In fairness, advertising always comes with a certain amount of risk, and W101 was never a sure thing.
Splatoon is ten times more marketable due to the nature of it being a multiplayer-focused shooter, so it justifies this kind of push much more.

They're definitely trying to put Splatoon, especially the Inklings, on the Nintendo map.
Not much better I'd guess. I love the game, but it's niche as fuck.

Well probably a bit better. You'd be surprised how the majority of people base purchases on quantity and quality of ads. Drilling people's head seem to work.

Have you tried playing it? I had zero interest in it untill I tried out the testfire. Then I was hooked and sad I had to wait 3 more weeks untill it released.

In Spain at least is 12am (24:00), maybe other countries is different?
You also can get repeats that day, so i wouldnt be surprised you start getting repeats everyday when you are nearly buy al of them.
