Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

What do people think of the Nozzlenose? I just tried it out last night and was thoroughly unimpressed.

What do people think of the Labor's Skill? He just complained about the Best Weapon In The Game and I was thoroughly unimpressed. :P

Nah, I enjoy it.

I liked it for ranked

then I didn't

if I want disruptors I think I'll just stick with the custom splattershot jr and blaster

been on a .52 gal deco kick again. landing seekers on port mackerel is always great.

Nah, I enjoy it.

I am a Pablo man, through and through, so no stranger to ZR shenanigans, but it just didn't feel as satisfying. Attack-wise it's pretty strong, but it just felt lacking somehow.

I just got a Splatfest update

I can choose my team

I have a strange feeling this will be unbalanced again

which to choose? I wanted team cat but Marie is team dog :(

Ranked really is just a grind, the amount of utter shit players at B+ and A ranks incredible.
Definitely. I was hoping it would get better once I hit A but it's really not much netter.

Its total potluck to get out of c rank. Keep getting paired with shit team mates. So irritating on port mackerel.
You have to carry your team if you want to rank up quickly.

It really is pot luck how good your team is. I think the ranked system in this game is just really poorly designed.
How would you change it?

It's good but different and isn't the easiest weapon to pick up.

Anyone have tips for the sniper weapons? I've been trying to practice getting better using them and I just suck. It's really frustrating, I feel like a lot of the time I'll aim correctly and my ink will cover someone, so they'll be standing in my color ink, but they don't seem to take any damage.

Yeah, I can't carry shit by myself. I go positive most of the time, but taking care of 4 kids that are, also, squids? Fuck that. Anyone have tips?

I like the concept but the execution is poor. You should be able to hold the trigger down. It is pretty useless in Turf War, it has poor coverage and then a sub/super that do nothing to help that. There's also no way to make it kill in a full burst which would make it a lot better, maybe too much, so I'm not really sure of the upside to it. I haven't used it in ranked so I can't really say anything about that.

My body is ready for the splatfest. I have to get lots of fire emblem out of the way in between work so I can commit 100% to team cat

You have to hit them, inking the ground won't ever kill em

I think you overestimate the level of players at the lower ranks. Rank A players are less susceptible to obvious "tricks".
I don't know what you mean by tricks but when I went from B to A- I averaged 14 kills and around 4-5 deaths. I had to carry my team for the majority of my matches and only lost 3 or 4 games. When I play ranked now I basically only struggle to win when I'm playing poorly.

Your right, for the most part A rank players are better than C/B but nowhere close to what I was hoping for. I may have overstated my original comment but this is what I was meaning to say.

Like you have a lot more flanking battles vs. rank A players, and camping specific spots on the map are not as easy. It's not like rank A players are god-tier players but still a lot of players struggle to get into A.

How exactly are you carrying a team in Splat Zone? If this was something equivalent to a Team Slayer/Deathmatch variant, I'd understand easier.

Ummm, killing people, covering the areas, not getting distracted by an enemy and forgetting to cover the area, remaining alive and providing a safe jump point, killing people...

When I say carrying a team i just mean playing well.

Edit: More importantly I think is just playing smart.

That match was real laggy for me, I knew I would get disconnected, gonna try to jump back in and see how it goes.
Edit: disconnected again, don't know what's up right now may try again after the map switch

Nothing like a full day of Ranked where you derank to C+ hell then promote back to where you started in B- purgatory to make you wonder why Spyke charges so goddamn much for rerolls. :lol

It will a live conference because they will be revealing NX

Anyways, anyone playing?

Better reveal Splatoon 2: Eelectric Splateroo at the same time.

Nozzlenose is great. It adds variety to a wall filled with automatic guns. I often get the top score on the winning team with 1000+ or top on the losing team in Turf Wars. The other Nozzle players I see don't fare as well. I guess like any other gun just shoot shoot shoot all the time. The range is good for keeping Aerosprays or Jr's at bay. The Disruptor is very beneficial to the semi-auto nature of the weapon, slow them down to guarantee all shots hit. You can also use it to make players back off when disrupted, which is good when they out-range you. It packs a lot of punch if you can get all 3 rounds to hit. I use 1 Damage Up perk and 2 subs so if an enemy walks into my ink and doesn't have Defense Up its more likely to be a 1 shot kill. The rhythm felt kind of weird at first but I'm used to it now.

The Custom E-Liter on the other hand I won't even buy. When I play an online game I try to identify what is the most ridiculous "OP" weapon or skill etc. and I decide whether to use it or not. The Kraken along with the Bubbler are the most ridiculous BS specials in the game, and I won't use them. Being unaffected by enemy attacks for a few seconds is just stupid. Compare it to any other special, they give you more attack power but you're still vulnerable. With the normal specials you have to consider your position. "Am I safe using this right now?" With Kraken/Bubbler it doesn't matter, it's guaranteed invincibility that can be used when you'd normally die, turning your mistake into success, or used to push further into enemy territory while the enemy can do nothing but let you do it.

Since I doubt the Splatoon devs would remove them I'll put forward a way to fix them, or at least make them bearable: The special duration can last the same, but with each hit received the time is reduced. So it's more like additional armor that the victim can chip away at instead of the guaranteed domination it is now.

And yes, I've seen the tips to just dodge/run away from the Kraken. Dodging doesn't work. Every time I try to juke a Kraken I get lag killed(why are so many rollers laggy?). So just run away, right? Yeah, except some of them have caught on to that and use Swim Speed Up which unfortunately applies to the Kraken.

Holy hyperbole man, what the heck is a charger going to do as a kraken into enemy territory by himself. It's a defensive tool, not an offensive one.

First time playing since last weekend. Omg the Nozzlenose is a beast. How did the Splatoon devs know I was wishing for a semi auto weapon? Fav weapon class in any shooter :)

I felt bad that game. At least half of them were learning how to aim. That poor lvl 1 guy

Geez how did a level 1 make it into your game? Do you think they joined a friend or is the matchmaking really that messed up?

Yep I played against a Japanese E-Liter user who would use Kraken only when they were in danger of being splatted. It's a pretty smart strategy

He could get some easy kills for one. If his team is there he could make the enemies back off while his team follows. And I highlighted it's defensive use in the last post. Other specials are more fair because of their vulnerability, you can use them defensively but can still be killed. Kraken is a get out of jail free card.

I wouldn't call that smart, just obvious. If a player gets to close, Kraken. I think there need to be more drawbacks to the invincibility specials.

Jump down from perch, go into kraken, kill someone, run back to perch? Unless the perch is really close to the enemy territory (why would you as the longest range charger in the game) that's a real waste of time.

There are choke points that sometimes need to be pushed past that may have lots of cover for the enemy to hide from your shots. Bust through with a Kraken, your team follows and inks, you find a new sniping spot further into enemy territory.
