I think "read" is the keyword here. Shocker was all over the games and cartoons, he's like the ideal C-tier villain you'd fight halfway through a Spidey game. Anyone who was exposed to a lot of those would remember him fairly well.
I mean shit, he certainly leaves a better impression than Electro...

It still honest to god enrages me that they had Tony Stark make Spiderman's outfit for him.
Spidey already designed all the tech. Tony just paid to make it look good.
Shocker and Vulture will both get their tech from Tinkerer, who worked for Stark in this.

I am not a fan of how the movies make the enemies look. Make them look like the classic characters.
I know anecdotal evidence means squat, but my 9 year old niece who hates superhero's knows who shocker is. I am pretty sure he was prominent in some of the cartoons.
As for me as long time fan of the web head I am glad to see someone not named goblin or octopus in one of these. I know that second Garfield movie had electro but it was a shit adaption and the only real difference between the two is electro thinks he is serious business where as Shocker knows his place.
It could be a more useless villian like late eighties beetle.

You know, in every single other incarnation for decades, even something like Spectacular that this closely resembles, Peter was smart enough to make all his own shit. He didn't need to eat "Mister Stark's" cornhole and spitshine his goddamn shoes to get a Spidey signal and a suit, but you know what, I'll still give the movie a chance on its own merits.
At least the cast is incredible, and at least we're GETTING

Considering that one of the main goals for this incarnation was to hammer home that he doesn't have any money, I'd say it's justified.
It's weird that he even managed to make the shooters in the first place but for we all know they only had three shots or something.

Maybe he managed to make them using money he got from wrestling the night Uncle Ben was killed. Maybe it's the first thing he made. Maybe he's been selling photos. He's sold photos to places besides the Bugle. You know, like he always has. Parker found ways to get money once he became Spider-Man. Not enough to be rich, but enough to get by. I would take it if Tony just funded him. That would be FINE by me. If that's how the movie goes, GREAT, but don't let Tony make any more of his inventions for him FOR GOD'S SAKE PLEASE.
Also, MCU Tony is also NOT the sort of person I want Peter learning to be a hero from right now. Tony is a fucking asshole. Peter Parker is a genuinely good person, but with flaws. Tony is turning into a supervillain.

Shocker is a villain you throw in as an extra, like you would with Rhino. Vulture, Sandman and Electro would fit that category too but they have enough depth there to make a story out of them.
The best Shocker is still from Spectacular Spider-Man with the Enforcers, so if they want to do Shocker in the movies, that would probably be the best approach. Besides Sinister Six of course.
I'm not really interested in the movie, but I'll give them props for not doing the bloody Goblin again. The Osborns need to fade away for at least a decade for me to bother with that storyline again. Unless Insomniac make it interesting again that is.

I wonder is Vulture's tech will somehow tie in with Falcon's. Either as someone trying to recreate it or as a "version 2.0" made by the government. I hope the explanation won't just be "Oops, Tony tried to make a better suit for Falcon and someone else got their hands on it first".
