Just like everybody else, just watched it for the second time today. It really gave me an appreciation for how well most of it was tied together. I wish we had gotten more of Rey living on Jakku before she gets swept up in the larger plot. For some reason, her living alone and scavenging in the Graveyard of Giants is really intriguing to me.

You know, I really hope R2 and C3PO's involvement is kept to an absolute minimum in the next movie. This is BB-8's trilogy. As much as I like R2, he needs to retire:P

I agree. I really found those limited scenes of her during her introduction to be fantastic.

Luke would probably not even know R2 has the map, plus it has a missing piece, why would he turn R2 on unless he knew BB8 had the other piece?

The movie really makes it fairly clear Luke has NOTHING to do with the map. The first order has the same part R2 has, and it's been pretty much confirmed that the script was supposed to be that R2 got that way back in the OT from the Death Star. Good guys just manage to find the part that was erased, that part being on Jakku in some old empire ruins there.

Ok so saw the movie solid 8/10.

Things of note:

Stormtropper vs Finn was easily the best fight/scene in the movie for me.

Kylo being a huge Vader fanboy is fucking hilarious to me.

I don't believe for a second that Han is dead.

How the fuck could that Starkiller laser split and destroy five planets? How much other shit got destroyed along the way?

You don't believe that a guy who got impaled by a lightsaber and then fell off a bridge into the void below on a planet that then gets blown up is dead?

After a few days of watching it a second time and letting it sink in, I like it. It has tons of problems, but there is a lot to enjoy.

I've been listening to the soundtrack a lot, some stuff I really, but it's the weakest in the series.

Why is there even a map to Luke in the first place? Immaculate Map Conception?

I'm really looking forward to learning about these guys.

It's a map to the first jedi temple. Makes sense that the empire/emperor would have had a part of it erased. And makes sense that it would not have been erased from the empire's "fort Knox" version on Jakku.

They say the map is a clue to where Luke can be found, because basically they expect him to be at the first jedi temple and believe that's what this map is.

It's also possible Luke knew bb8 had the missing piece and was in the same proximity as R2. Han's death being the trigger. Definitely not impossible. Also the movie doesn't make that clear R2 has nothing to do with Luke. It could be possible R2 went into low power mode to hide any clues that he might have the missing piece of the map to find Luke, waiting for Luke to send him a signal at the right moment.

Except I don't think Rey is her real name. I think it's the name she gave herself because of the name she sees on the pilot helmet she puts on when she's eating outside her home. "Something Raeh"

Yep, it says "Raeh" in aurebesh, and the TFA dictionary says it belonged to someone named Dosmit Raeh of the Tierfon Yellow Aces.

Way too similar to be a coincidence. I highly doubt Rey is the name she was given at birth.

Some things that I find very interesting in their designs:

1- Named "The Seven Light". Strange for evil folks.
2- Rey's name is... Rey, sounds like Ray of light.
3- In Rey's vision, Kylo kills someone who looks a LOT like one of them and who has a club weapon that looks a lot like one of those guys' weapons. If someone has a screencap of the guy with the hat who gets killed please post it.

So I'm thinking these guys might be former members of the force church or whatever. The fact they kill someone who looks like themselves except with no masks might indicate this.

And now imagine if Rey's family are among those knights.

Super cool. So much mystery. I need episode 8 :(

I think her name is Anakina.

I'm going with Luke going where he did but having a vision, maybe left for Rey to find him when she was ready... Or something. Would explain why it was on Jakku with Lor San Tekka.

Does she have to be a Kenobi or a Skywalker?

Since Ben's redemption and survival seems a bit unlikely it kind of makes it necessary for her to be a Skywalker since the mainline Star Wars are supposed to be about the Skywalker line unless they drop that. That is of course unless Ben/Kylo Ren has been out there banging around the galaxy.

Well I mean not really. TFA is also about Ben's descent into Dark Side and the trilogy will likely show his rise to power so that's technically about the Skywalkers

This is totally Rey if they intend to go this route.

Did this guy lose his weapon just before they left and just grabbed an Olympic Bar out of the squat rack in the First Order gym?

I just think the whole map thing is anti climactic since it not only had nothing to do with the Starkiller assault, but the motives for Kylo and Snokes to hunt down Luke are still unexplained so there is little incentive to care about the plot point outside of the meta-reason . . . to see Luke on screen.

I've seen this reaction too many times. Are you being serious here?

I feel like people who think Han is alive don't know how to watch movies. I don't mean for that to sound insulting but the movie makes it crystal clear that Han is dead, for real and for good.

I think who's face Rey turns into (kind of) is the person who she is seeing what happened to. No idea who he is, but I don't think it's Snoke. Looks like it's telling us Kylo kills him. But strangely enough, the dude Kylo killed also seemed to be about to kill him. Maybe he gets captured or kidnapped.

Maybe it is Snoke but whatever it's weird. This happens to fast, on blu-ray someone will be able to take a good pic. Might even just be a weird optical illusion but people who looked for this after seeing the movie again say it's obvious in theater when you pay attention.

Also the ship that leaves Rey behind almost looks like the falcon, a little bit.
