She shrieks in K-On, but I don't remember her going high. I was going to say maybe it's just me myself though, because Mioshidora sounds complete different. Not different enough that you can't recognize the voice, but still enough for me to notice anyway.
To chip in on this conversation, Youko Hikasa also voiced Hiyori in Sora no Otoshimono whose pitch was on the higher end. I would think that she could do a higher range than her usual voice based on that.

Also just watched Otona Joshi no Anime Time: Kawamo wo Suberu Kaze. That was really good. A mature piece in anime isn't the often occurrence. Bulimia's always been a little chilling for me so that scene along with the music was some discomforting stuff. The part where Noriko's reflection hits Hisao's family picture. D: Very enjoyable piece of work that I'd like to see more of.

Ah, I see.

Yeah, she'll shriek in K-On, but she also talks within that range when she's flustered or bothered sometimes too. You're right about there being a noticeable difference in Moshidora. For me, I just didn't register the subtlety, etc where it's an apparent difference between her role in K-On and Moshidora personally.

Afaik the Panasonic's are alright for the price. Fairly comfortable too.
If Amazon had the white ones in stock for cheap, I wouldn't mind getting them to experiment with.
For the sake of being a secret animu fan, it must be white.
At worst, I'd sell it cheaply to a friend if they're average. Thanks.

She sounds much better in her "usual" range anyway. She may be one note, but she's really good as an alto and directors should keep her in that range. Heck, she might really be the Nolan North of anime outside of Kugimiya.

So mono no aware.

Someone needs to make more mature anime. With a few days behind me, I'd be prepared to put the one shot on top of a 2010/2011 list anyway. I mean, what anime seriously touches on adult bulimia?

Maybe she'll slip into it when she inevitably acts all tsundere around the star pitcher or something.

Mio's still the better girl with better headphones though. And Pohana's just poor, not practical or frugal.
Hey, Mio's the one with the lefty '62 Fender reissue Jazz Bass. Those things are expensive as fuck. And Azusa's got a '69 Mustang reissue. Those are both thousand dollar instruments. Let's not even talk about the Gibson Les Paul that Yui got on a hope and a prayer. Mugi's KORG makes sense since she's rich and her father owns music stores. The cheapest piece are the drums, which go for anywhere from $650-$1500 (I'd have to know their model number and/or material), but that's not owing to any of her hardware, and she's got some damned nice Zyldjians (cymbals, equipment cases, etc.).

I mean, there's some SERIOUS musical equipment going on in K-ON. Have you SEEN those $3500 Marshall FULL stacks they use for a freaking SCHOOL concert? If that auditorium's acoustics aren't good enough for a couple of 2x12 combos and a 1x15 bass amp, miking those up would be easy with a few gates. Seriously, how does anyone hear the drums over those monsters? Doing soundchecks for those things would be a nightmare. If those things belong to the school, that school is fucking rich. My COLLEGE that's building a new multi-million dollar student center recently bought a couple of 1x15 bass/keyboard/guitar combo amps, and they're not top line.

So in summary, the K-ON girls are at poorest upper middle class and go to a fucking-rich all girl's school. Ohana's mother is a writer. A WRITER. Jesus, I know, I know, insert "LOL poor college students", but the $300 I've put in specifically for my band plus the next $100+ I'm going to put in for a new practice kit and demo recording is a BIG investment for me. These girls are waving around thousands of dollars of equipment to their high school amusement, and on some level it would bother me if it wasn't animated (i.e. fake) and the musicianship that went into the music wasn't top quality.

Bamboo Blade. It's fencing, but better.
No it's not. Nothing's more intense than a good fencing match, sabre especially. The lack of GOOD fencing anime or manga is really a disservice to to the above average Japanese fencing tradition too.

The level of thought put into this post probably exceeded the level of thought KyoAni/Kakifly put into how the K-On girls afforded their equipment (Yui's shopping trip notwithstanding)

While we're on the amount of thought that went into something line of thinking my orange cat just figured out how to open cabinets, what a pain in the ass.

I do find it strange that sports anime works in Japan when it's clear from this thread that sports and nerds generally don't mix well.
What? Sports and nerds mix when you have sports with lots of sweet stats to looks through!

Bamboo Blade was fun. I particularly liked the fanservice cockblocks.

"We're going to spend the night at the school pool with the girls from the neighboring schools kendo club"

"Oh no, the pools closed. We better just get in sweats and clean it"

"Lets to to the public bath"

::next scene::

"Bye everyone, that was a good bath"

I went with the second one since watching people play sports is boring.

Now to watch Iroha 4!

Sports are the action scenes of real life. You can usually fast forward through them and get the same amount of enjoyment. :p

Otona Joshi no Anime Time: Kawamo wo Suberu Kaze

God lady, stop living in the past. Moping around isn't helping anyone!

This would be fairly unremarkable if it were live action.

There's a funny scene involving baseball, Utena herself is allegedly a member of the basketball team, and there's even a lovely badminton scene. It thinks of everything (before you even knew you wanted badminton in your anime)!
But does it have curling?

Nerds != sports nerds. Two different breeds that may intermix, like the allusive A Game of Thrones/Treme fan.

Yeah, for a show that was about girls moe'ing it up, it wasn't too bad on the servisu.

Well, Fender Japan makes alot of great stuff, and the only reason I really know this is because I've been looking out for a reasonably priced lefty Mustang for my rhythm guitarist and best friend. I've made the Azu-nyan jokes, but the fact is, it really has fantastic tone for what we're doing. Thing is, the only lefty mustangs that've been made since the early 90s came out of Fender Japan. And they're still $1100 a pop ($1200+ with shipping and duties). Same goes for Jazzmasters and Jaguars. I just wish Jags and Stangs were as easy to get lefty as Strats (ew, hate strat tone) and Teles (love Telecaster tone, but no love for maple necks. The lead guitarist will probably get one anyway).

Plus, Marshall stacks are EXPENSIVE, and they stand out. I can't think of a single reason for a school to have one, much less two, other than being obscenely rich. Case and point: These people have some pretty intense means. It's always been something kind of odd to me with the K-On franchise.

$500k

But this is like asking how someone can work in a coffee shop yet have a giant apartment in Friends.

Edit: Oh, you meant product placement. Sometimes, it's just a reference at best. Other times, they get it the go-ahead i.e. Pizza Hut.

According to the earphone and headphone specialized shop e-Earphone's official blog, Austrian company AKG's high-end headphone "K701", priced 74,900 yen(about 760 USD), has sold out just after the airing of the 5th episode of "K-ON!".

This K701 is worn by Mio Akiyama, the tidy and shy bassist of the band. It's the first sold-olut they have experienced and acknowledging the achievement, the headphone was unofficially named "the Mio-phone" by the shop staff.

The figure of K701. Equipped with customized diaphragm to reduce unnecessary vibration, it succeeded in delivering the clear and dynamic sound.

The product has been ranked 41st on the sales ranking on the price-comparison web site kakaku.com. But after the airing of May 1st, the rank rose to 6th.

History of the change in the price. The price has been stabilized at 40 thousand yen or so, but it popped-up to about 75 thousand yen since May 8th.

According to the article, Fender have sold their JB62/LH/3TS, a bass guitar played by the female lead Mio Akiyama, as many as the amount they usually sell in six months(24 weeks) in only two or three weeks recently, which is 800% faster than usual. In response to this acceleration, Fender factory decided to produce the extra guitar equivalent to 2 years' stock. It's surprising in these recession days.

The JB62/LH/3TS bass guitar. JB stands for Jazz bass, LH for left-handed. It's actually the re-production of 1962's product. Also, JB62/3TS for right-handed sells well.

Think they are bluffing? Take a look at Amazon and you will get it. You can see the entire "Related Products" section of the guitar is filled with K-ON! goods.
