Although Bamboo Blade was a hell of a lot better than Princess Lover and kendo looks more fun to watch than fencing.

To chip in on this conversation, Youko Hikasa also voiced Hiyori in Sora no Otoshimono whose pitch was on the higher end. She sounds much better in her "usual" range anyway. She may be one note, but she's really good as an alto and directors should keep her in that range. Heck, she might really be the Nolan North of anime outside of Kugimiya.Joule said:To chip in on this conversation, Youko Hikasa also voiced Hiyori in Sora no Otoshimono whose pitch was on the higher end. So mono no aware. Also just watched Otona Joshi no Anime Time: Kawamo wo Suberu Kaze. That was really good. A mature piece in anime isn't the often occurrence. Bulimia's always been a little chilling for me so that scene along with the music was some discomforting stuff. The part where Noriko's reflection hits Hisao's family picture. D: Very enjoyable piece of work that I'd like to see more of.
Maybe she'll slip into it when she inevitably acts all tsundere around the star pitcher or something.Geneijin said:Yeah, she'll shriek in K-On, but she also talks within that range when she's flustered or bothered sometimes too. You're right about there being a noticeable difference in Moshidora. For me, I just didn't register the subtlety, etc where it's an apparent difference between her role in K-On and Moshidora personally.
Oh yeah. There's even an OVA too!mAcOdIn said:I think one of the girls in Princess Lover was a fencer, you should give it a go!

Hey, Mio's the one with the lefty '62 Fender reissue Jazz Bass. Those things are expensive as fuck. And Azusa's got a '69 Mustang reissue. Those are both thousand dollar instruments. Let's not even talk about the Gibson Les Paul that Yui got on a hope and a prayer. Mugi's KORG makes sense since she's rich and her father owns music stores. The cheapest piece are the drums, which go for anywhere from $650-$1500 (I'd have to know their model number and/or material), but that's not owing to any of her hardware, and she's got some damned nice Zyldjians (cymbals, equipment cases, etc.).Master Milk said:Mio's still the better girl with better headphones though. And Pohana's just poor, not practical or frugal.
No it's not. Nothing's more intense than a good fencing match, sabre especially. The lack of GOOD fencing anime or manga is really a disservice to to the above average Japanese fencing tradition too.firehawk12 said:Bamboo Blade. It's fencing, but better.

Well, Fender Japan makes alot of great stuff, and the only reason I really know this is because I've been looking out for a reasonably priced lefty Mustang for my rhythm guitarist and best friend. I've made the Azu-nyan jokes, but the fact is, it really has fantastic tone for what we're doing. Thing is, the only lefty mustangs that've been made since the early 90s came out of Fender Japan. And they're still $1100 a pop ($1200+ with shipping and duties). Same goes for Jazzmasters and Jaguars. I just wish Jags and Stangs were as easy to get lefty as Strats (ew, hate strat tone) and Teles (love Telecaster tone, but no love for maple necks. The lead guitarist will probably get one anyway).zeroshiki said:The level of thought put into this post probably exceeded the level of thought KyoAni/Kakifly put into how the K-On girls afforded their equipment (Yui's shopping trip notwithstanding)

According to the earphone and headphone specialized shop e-Earphone's official blog, Austrian company AKG's high-end headphone "K701", priced 74,900 yen(about 760 USD), has sold out just after the airing of the 5th episode of "K-ON!".
This K701 is worn by Mio Akiyama, the tidy and shy bassist of the band. It's the first sold-olut they have experienced and acknowledging the achievement, the headphone was unofficially named "the Mio-phone" by the shop staff.
The figure of K701. Equipped with customized diaphragm to reduce unnecessary vibration, it succeeded in delivering the clear and dynamic sound.
The product has been ranked 41st on the sales ranking on the price-comparison web site kakaku.com. But after the airing of May 1st, the rank rose to 6th.
History of the change in the price. The price has been stabilized at 40 thousand yen or so, but it popped-up to about 75 thousand yen since May 8th.

According to the article, Fender have sold their JB62/LH/3TS, a bass guitar played by the female lead Mio Akiyama, as many as the amount they usually sell in six months(24 weeks) in only two or three weeks recently, which is 800% faster than usual. In response to this acceleration, Fender factory decided to produce the extra guitar equivalent to 2 years' stock. It's surprising in these recession days.
The JB62/LH/3TS bass guitar. JB stands for Jazz bass, LH for left-handed. It's actually the re-production of 1962's product. Also, JB62/3TS for right-handed sells well.
Think they are bluffing? Take a look at Amazon and you will get it. You can see the entire "Related Products" section of the guitar is filled with K-ON! goods.
