Well, that was an interesting episode. I thought it started off weak yet ended on a strong note. Poor Makoto though.
She talks with Usagi about what she does to counter her natural masculinity, her admiration for Haruka is interpreted by the other Senshi as her heterosexuality in crisis to the point they're beseeching her to give men another chance, and she's the target of this week's Daimon who was a little less subtle than normal especially given Makoto's dilemma! What was really interesting to see how Uranus and Neptune aren't entirely on the same page as well as Jupiter being given some vindication given she actually injured Uranus in their brief encounter.
Lots of silliness therein but the ep made me appreciate Makoto a little more than I had before.

Usagi represents the viewer here.

I have no fucking clue.

A wonderful way to close out the episode. Makoto deserved this one.

This episode proves once and for all YOU ARE WRONG.

Rarity is about to crash to her death.
SHE DOES NOTHING. She's probably eating some grapes while getting fanned by her servants or something. She is an evil dictator. I hope this series ends with Twilight overthrowing her and taking the throne herself.

She could have teleported them out, she wanted to give Dash a chance to prove herself.

please tell me those credits don't mean what I think they mean

Even though the formula remained unchanged from the previous episode, this one wasn't as aggressively bad. Sure, it was still stylistically bankrupt, uncomedic, and generally just boring, but generally toning down Medaka's bullshit and shifting her slightly from Mary Sue to idiot-savant made it at least watchable. I don't like the inconsistency of Medaka having better deductive reasoning skills than Sherlock Holmes in one scene and
thinking she can tame a vicious feral dog by donning a costume
in another, but whatever. Expecting more would be asking too much.

I'll tell you this; real hands do look like that if you know how to play the piano when you actually play it if you're somewhat knowing of what you're doing.

I speak from experience in this realm.

I have some experience too but I concede I'm not that skilled and I haven't played piano in quite some time. Rewatching it, maybe I was too hasty saying it was too mechanical. It's really not bad at all.

Still, I think it comes off just a tad off. Of course, it could just be me since my teachers always commented me on the same thing when I was practicing a certain song: my form's too rigid and my hands should be more free-flowing. I was playing Fantaisie Impromptu if you want some context.

I'm just an amateur, learning it as a hobby so my form could just be bad.

I half liked it and half didn't.

The point could easily have been made with just three episodes, but using up all eight both reinforced the point ad naseum and also cleared the timeline perfectly for the events of Disappearance, which was fucking amazing.

I didn't like Endless Eight, I'm just fine with it, ambivalent if you will. It did drive its point home. I agree the time could have been used better to elaborate on other things. <_<

Damn you Bones cycle. You got me again. :(

So yeah, I didn't want to get my hopes up too much but the episode was actually really good. As has been said, it feels like Eureka should and the music is fantastic.

I really hope I don't come to regret this but I'm so hyped right now against my better judgment.

I was with you until this!

All the better. More grandma waifus for me!

Judging from the reactions to this topic I've got Lupin's second episode, Apollon, Tsuritama, and E7 Ao queued up so that I watch them all before Fate/Zero in a single sitting on Saturday.

And I'm not gonna lie, that grandma is kinda hot.

Yuki's obaachan made me feel things that I've never felt before and really need some time to sort out. She's (one of?) the very first old person/people to act like she was actually an anime character when she was young.

I don't know if a background with E7 would've filled in some of the information gaps for me, but this was enjoyable to watch. Story is interesting enough, world is nicely established and detailed, and this show just had a good flow from moment to moment. I was surprised at just how well put together it was from both a visual and audio perspective. This season is really just abundant with great looking shows across an array of different art styles.

Hmm, you might be ok watching the show, but there's certainly stuff present that you wouldn't have background on if you haven't seen E7.

Maybe under a very formal and objective definition for "people"

Ice cold.

Do the sight of K-ON girls make your day go bad or something?

I dunno about Tsuritama. It certainly is interesting to say the least. Nothing much more than that right now. If you have time then sure, go for it.

Yuki's obaachan made me feel things that I've never felt before and really need some time to sort out. She's (one of?) the very first old person/people to act like she was actually an anime character when she was young.

Not you too, Mad Pierrot!

I would weep. And try to forget about it, like Guilty Crown.
Oh wow. I completely forgot I still have to watch the Guilty Crown finale.

I'll stick to it and hopefully it'll work out okay. Maybe I'll have to look something up sooner or later just to understand things better.

Ah ok, that makes a ton of sense then. I've been in lessons for about 7 years now, and just last year I did my "physiological" piano lessons working on all the physicality of playing as opposed to technique. (also some Alexander lessons, yo)

We can meet halfway on this then cause I do agree with some of your points :D

I'm... not quite sure what this means.

Regulus Tera

Romanes Eunt Domus
The ( o ) ( o ) of the woman named Fujiko Mine 02

It's a good thing that the art is as expressive as it is, because the animation was very choppy at times. It gave the episode a very strange "vignette" feeling instead of the moving painting one of the pilot. It still worked despite that, and in a way it probably accentuates the stagnation both main characters live throughout the story.

The narrative, on the other hand, was much stronger than last week's. It went beyond the simple sexy-action plot of the first episode and became something a lot more personal and engaging. It's nice to know that the entire thing won't be just tits and guns, even if I am well satisfied by said tits and guns.

Eureka Seven: AO

I was very very surprised at how good it was. To start off, I love Ao. His voice is great and his character is overall awesome. For a 13 year-old he has quite the backbone and I think this type of character will give rise to different themes and developments from the original. Having said that, I don't like Naru very much. Something about her just doesn't click with me. Music is awesome as everyone noted and the art is just fantastic. It captures that vibrant colorful world - much like a rainbow - that the original was just awesome for.

Two particular points that stood out to me. One was the relationship between Ao and his grandfather. For some reason, the relationship between the two is a very stark contrast of Renton and Axel. It has to do with how Ao is a very strong character but at the same time understands his position - being an outsider. Put that together with a very caring, sympathetic but easygoing adult, I think it just works out awesomely.

The second was after Ao visited Naru's place after the attack. Instead of wallowing or anything like that, he just immediately thought of revenge and getting back at the G-Monster. It was very surprising and I wasn't expecting that at all. In retrospect it makes since it fits Ao's character.

Overall I'm looking forward to this episode. I just hate that the pairing is going to be Ao and Naru. Dammit....

Really good. There was something about it that was so perfect for Jigen. It actually really makes me excited for the Goemon episode despite not liking him too much, unless he's doing his best.

It feels like the show has a lot of respect for these characters, so I am excited to see what they'll do next.

I'm... not quite sure what this means.

I have no idea either. I've stayed up way too late watching stuff and I might not be thinking so coherently right now.

I think I was just trying to imply that old age has had less of an effect on her personality than the average anime geriatric.

So the general concensus is E7 AO is a go right? I'm seeing good impressions everywhere.

'Physiological' piano lessons? Alexander techniques? That's quite advanced. Are you doing it as a personal hobby or at a college/university?

I've personally studied for 5 years before stopping. I don't have a piano anymore and I don't have much time to commit to it either. ;_; I really miss it sometimes though. But good to see my knowledge hasn't deteriorated completely :p

Before Fate/Zero happened, E7 was my favorite anime. Now they're both #1. E7AO beat my expectations with flying colors. Then again... I was expecting this show to bomb judging from teh manga.

Ah My Goddess TV 15
Wonderful robot butler Banpei RX!
So another Skuld focused episode mostly based off her own designed robot Banpei. It was nice seeing something else fall for Belldandy, but it was mostly a Skuld, Belldandy and our robot friend episode. Cool to see Skuld and Banpei fight Mara and it does look like Mara is gonna be doing something big next episode.

A lot better than the first episode in many ways, the art for this is so rich and beautiful, and a lot of care has gone into the camera angles and framing. The faces are also very expressive, which unfortuntely a lot of anime lack.

I don't think I really ever picked up on this in a big way until I watched Sailor Moon, where the range and variety of the 'cartoony' expressions give the cast such personality.

Oh yeah, I recall Duckroll used to hate on Fate/Zero quite a bit prior to the premiere and it wasn't until the first episode aired that he changed his tune.

Can history repeat itself? I sure hope so!

Yeah mentioned it in my Tsuritama post, lots of quality music this season. Although I suppose its only fitting considering the variety of good shows we have right now. Its a shame Ozma turned out to be crap. Such a waste of a good soundtrack/composer.

Let's hope they can hold together their quality for a few episodes!
hmmm should I watch polar bear cafe eps2?

Don't watch it just because it has polar bears in it. That's the wrong reason to do anything.

I didn't see why he was skeptical of it, but there were legitimate reasons to be.

Goddamn I love this art style so much. So gorgeous. The variety of vibrant colors, the detailed backgrounds, etc. The character designs themselves aren't as impressive but they fit in really well with the rest of the world, imo. The music was nice too. Got a bit of a Wind Waker vibe from it lol. Definitely my favorite looking show this season aside from Lupin III (and not counting Hyouka yet).

The show itself is pretty decent. The characters aren't bad but also not as interesting as they could be. Then again we haven't seen much from Akira and Usami. Not really sure what to think but i'm interested to see more from these characters. Haru seems like he might become pretty grating over time though, but this show seems really fun and light-hearted so I'm definitely gonna keep up with this.

Also, a duck named Tapioca. That's awesome.

"Anime is dead/saved" has become one of my most disliked memes. I really can't stand it anymore.

Memes in general are pretty pointless (unless they involve Puffins) and we're all aware that anime is neither saved nor dead because the next season will usually be completely different, regardless of how good or bad the current season is. For example, Summer looks to be a very unimpressive season.

Well I finished my 4-year as a composition major, and am currently at a pretty good conservatory now for my master's program. Both of them pretty much require/required piano as a minor, so i'm in it for the long run it seems. Also, it's good for the master's track because (surprisingly) decent piano skills will get you decent teaching jobs anywhere.

Because I was curious (curiosity killed the cat), I checked if there were any real K-On London tours trying to capitalize on the movie. Apparently, the answer is YES. And its not some bootleg tour, no. This one is operated by JAL and the tour covers the exact places the girls go to. :lol

I should go visit Jex and Steroyd sometime.
