Bjergsen is the greatest midlane in the world
Uh, the shading and the lighting looking bad is a point. Why is that considered a blanket assertion?
These are actually some of my favorite aspects to Slope's visual style. It has a very cooled look to it, fits the quieter jazz feel for me. If anything shading and lighting were a bigger problem in Tsuritama for me because most everything is just a flat bright shade. Slope winds up looking much more real to me.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Part VI

Bwahahaha. Kyon has no shame.

But, yeah. That was freaking epic. And... Melancholic?
Kyon and Haruhi discussing how they feel about the "real" world... While huge scary-ass monsters loom in the background destroying everything... And then start coming towards them.

And then, Kyon has his usual internal dialogue discussing
what Haruhi means to him...
So...
YES!
And dat music!

...

*Cue OP*

Freaking awesome.

I'm 100% satisfied. I liked literally all the characters in this, and I want more. I feel like that may be my ruin, though.
Yeah, the broadcast order really helped the first season with being such an excellent thing to watch unfold. It's good to see you enjoyed it!
E8 is totally worth it for Disappearance alone!

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Wtf 6 years.

What have I been doing with my life?

I still don't know how or why Haruhi S2 happened but KyoAni better not pull that shit off again.

Haruhi S1 was fun.

I personally think KyoAni thought that since their daring move with the broadcast order in S1 worked so well (and I'd agree it was pretty brilliant), they'd do something even more daring. Shame they pissed half at least half their fanbase like that. I was personally fine with it,

Yeah, I found the way the shading and lighting was handled really helped to give it a sense of depth which really stood out when it was animated.

Such a great show when viewed in the correct (broadcast) order! :D Glad you liked it!

It really is. I'm glad I asked you guys about that beforehand. I'd probably start watching it in the S2 order without thinking.

It was a troll to get us to like Disappearance. It worked!

I'm just gonna pretend that's the reason why I'll start braving through S2 soon.

I will admit, it was fun watching it live and seeing the horrible realization dawn on everyone by the time the third repeat rolled around.

Those were quite the two months, let me tell you.

It's a visual style that hasn't really been attempted much in anime, so it's understandable that it could be a divisive issue. I think it looks great a lot of the time, and it allows the cels and background to meld together in a way that is unusual for hand-drawn animation. It places more importance on lighting and composition in guiding the eyes to the characters, but thankfully they have a staff that understands that anyway.

So Apollon

Is this gonna just become one of those music animes but "why jazz is awesome!"?

I'll cool with that.

This show does make me wanna rewatch my favorite romcom ever.

Even though I liked the live action better... Nodame is so adorable!

Def! These two shots in particular.

Really gave off a sense of depth that pulled you into the frame. Adding into the tone apt color palatte, and the 'softness' of the characters, it all just came together to provide this whole I found quite impressive. I wish I could articulate it better than I am.

Indeed, Nodame is in fact one of my most favourite anime ever.

I love the attention to detail and the accurate portrayal of different elements of music and things like the universities.

Kinda makes me melancholy sometimes though. Wish I was better at piano and I could be part of the same world ;_;

It seems more like a show about people who enjoy music and are brought together by it than it is just about the music itself, but I don't know how things play out.

Well, the first episode barely had any music, so it's obviously character-focused so far.
This is a good thing. I felt like it had a fair amount of music though. Not an overwhelming amount, but the pause between pieces makes each stand out more.

Kids on the Slope 1

Simply masterful work. I could reiterate what everyone else has said about it but I don't think there is anything I can add. I will say I like shading style of the show as it gives scenes a certain depth and physicality. Sentarou's scar actually looks like I could feel it if I touched the screen.

One thing that I noticed about the shading was that it made certain facial features pop in an interesting way. This was especially true of Sentarou's scar, which had a really interesting effect of depth:

When I first saw this I couldn't quite put my finger on what was making the scar look like an actual cut into Sentarou's face, but I believe that it's the really soft gradient shading. Everyone has very soft-looking cheekbones and it does a great job of complementing the more femenine/shoujo character designs for the males in the show. I personally love it.

Going off the screenshots, the lighting and shading of the people in Kids on the Slope reminds me of The Princess and the Frog. I wasn't a big fan of that either. I assume that it looks better in motion.

Everything is tsundere to me
It can't be worse than Upotte, can it?

In any case, fight through the pain, Ultimadrago and all other victims of Mad Pierrot.

Upotte!! has 10 episodes. TEN. And at least Upotte!! is novel. Sengoku girls has already been done! And exactly one year ago no less!

Upotte is like diving into the mind of a serial killer
kind of like that movie The Cell

there needs to be an anime like that

Yeah, the show does a great job with depth and making the characters non-flat(best word I could come up with). Although Cruchyroll streaming quality isn't particularly conducive to the soft style they use.

Lupin III A Woman Named Fujiko Mine 2

Jigen is such a badass. Can't wait for the Goemon ep. I do wish the shadow effect had been left in the first episode though. Didn't mind it then but I think it'll wear on me as the series goes on.

Kids on the Slope 1

Just fantastic. Between this and Lupin, I'm glad I hopped back into this hobby. It was also amusing the top comments for Moanin' on youtube were related to the show.

Nyarko-san: Another Crawling Chaos 1

This is so dumb and I can't get enough. :lol @ her use of mobile suit names.

Medaka Box 2

Still silly fun. The Mary Sue aspect doesn't really bother me as I'm more in it for the cheap laughs.

Saint Seiya Omega 2

A new Saint! Soma's costume is pretty goofy but I think I like him better than Cure Pegasus so far.

Tsuritama 1

So this is how Dr. Seuss sees the world when he's on acid and hanging out with Keita Takahashi. Them visuals.

Yuki is an interesting character. The dude very clearly has an extreme case of social anxiety and it's displayed in a pretty unique way. Love his facial expressions. Haru is cool too.

First episode was good. Kind of wanted it to be wackier, but oh well. Everything from the atmosphere to the art is top-notch. I wish this was a game so I could explore the world. Very pretty and vibrant. Also glad it's about more than just fishing. Hope they don't beat around the bush for too long and make the plot clear soon.

I must say filtering the shit out of everything to the point of being unable to see things is a very big improvement for this show.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? of the Dead 2

It's sad how far Saras has fallen on my list of favorite characters(was #2) because all she practically said this episode was "My Darling," and I've made it known that I dislike that aspect. And I'm really starting to love Yuki, so yay! I've already fallen for Chris but I already know who she is so...
Sera panty shot was so awesome and it seems that Kyoko is still alive. Was Dai-sensei healing her at the end...?

I keep seeing the nose and mouth between the eyes in that shot as I keep thinking the nose is the mouth.
I must say it's quite amazing when it's animated!

If I watch it, it's not connected, and suffer depression because of it, I'm challenging you to a duel, Wonzo. The loser has to watch some pre-sankarea DEEN show.
That better include Marimite and Giant Killing!
I'll watch Law of Ueki.
