The Light of El Cantare
My sister was over tonight, which means...

Fairy Tail 03:

Maybe I'm insane, but I think that Hirano Aya is a great fit for Lucy. These early one-off stories suck, but Lucy is pretty consistently amusing.

I'd like to commemorate the rest of my impressions for episode three to the memory of DTL, though that's mostly because I have nothing else to say.

Just when things were starting to look interesting!

But I agree, DTL would want this.

It's sad how far Saras has fallen on my list of favorite characters(was #2) because all she practically said this episode was "My Darling," and I've made it known that I dislike that aspect. And I'm really starting to love Yuki, so yay! I've already fallen for Chris but I already know who she is so...
Sera panty shot was so awesome and it seems that Kyoko is still alive. Was Dai-sensei healing her at the end...?
No, she
teleported her into the room and then she fell on the ground unable to get up.

If anything she got away and Dai-sensei is gonna torture the shit out of her.

Who presses the enter key with their middle finger?
A female Ninja Vampire who loves men's asses is who. Personally, I use my ring and middle finger either together or separate.

Eureka Seven: AO 01

ANIME IS SAVED.

The music, the animation, the directing. Everything seemed spot on.

The plot is strange so far, but I'm willing to believe!

I liked the episode. Nice direction, nice music, nice animation. The chemistry between the characters, their behavior, their actions, it was all really nice. But I don't like how it looks. The character art never convinced before it aired and it still doesn't now, it's a style that's not to my taste. The softness of the whole picture though is what annoys me more. I read some of you love that look, that shading, but it makes the show look a bit... "fake" to me and it also makes it feel... old, which I guess, given the year the show portrays, is what they wanted to go for, but it's not what I like to see.
Still, I'll keep watching because the meat of the show is delicious.

The still shots in this show dont look too great

That's just it, though. I hate speculating, but...
Dai-sensei snatched her up in the battle such a long time ago. Wouldn't she be far more injured if that was the case? I mean, it's highly likely that she's about to get her ass beat,
but it's always nice to think of other possibilities!

True true. My guess is that since
she can regenerate, but had the shit beaten out of her by Eu, she just imprisoned her for a while until now.
I do definitely wonder what's gonna happen though. I really wanted more Dai-sensei this season too, so i'm glad it's probably gonna happen.

Dude, I wanted more Dai-sensei, too!

I do have to wonder why
Dai-sensei released Kyoko and what questions she has?
I wonder what the reaction will be when everyone sees
Kyoko return?
I can't imagine it'd be a heartfelt reunion.

More and more fantastic each time.

File this under KyoAni being confident yet again.

Hyouka is apparently slated for 11 BD releases which comes out to 22 episodes (not counting BD special eps if ever). This proves that Hyouka is gonna be a 2 cour show out of the gate.

Love the OP. Love the blending of the notes and symbols, and how all those individual crotchet and quavers break away. So good.

The lighting as mentioned before creates this sterile feeling to the classroom, reflecting Kaoru's distance with the class and how unwelcome he is. The visuals work great together with the context to create the lonely ambience. In contrast, the shop has this dim but warm feeling associated with it. I also liked the symbolic step into the basement, where Kaoru descends into the warm lighting.

People also talked about the shadow gradient and I love how it's subtly used on faces and clothes to give everything a bit more personality and structure. Kind of like the crosshatching used in the second Lupin the Third episode.

The only real complaint is the CG. The CG of the cars, the CG of the piano scenes. Nodame also had the same piano scene CG so I don't really mind it but it still seems a tad unnatural. The hands feels a bit too mechanical, not enough human inflections and imperfections that you display when playing the piano. I may have been slightly hasty in my judgement of the CG; it's certainly much more natural than Nodame's CG ever was.

I particularly liked the drumming part and the last part where
Sentaro runs down the slope, splashing the puddle. DAT WATER *jizzes*

ED was okay. Not as good as the OP though.

Other than minor complaints, I adore this show. I think I'm ready to call this anime show of the season. <3 <3 <3 Hope there's more classical pieces though. I like jazz but I like classical more.

I don't see any BL, unless you call those bro moments in the rain BL?

Eureka 7 AO 1

Gotta say, I was pretty impressed by the first episode. Obviously the visuals are outstanding, but the episode was also well directed with some great shots, and pretty well paced too. Even though the show is different, it still "felt" like Eureka 7 which is nice. Ao himself is not a Renton Jr and has his own personality,
he already seems to have a girlfriend too so that means he is pretty boss.
Another thing that impressed me was the soundtrack. I wasn't sure if it could even come close to the original, particularly after I heard they were moving away from the electronic stuff, but this first episode had some really excellent pieces of music. There were a couple that mixed classical orchestra stuff with rock that I thought were cool as well. If it is any indication, then soundtrack could easily be as memorable as the first series. Also,
lol at Ao's van getting smashed at the end of the episode, guess he won't be driving that lame thing anymore!

I'm a little confused about a couple plot points, as I am a little hazy on how E7 ended.
The Scub left the planet correct? I guess they are back now? Also why has everyone seemingly re-associated themselves with nationalities and such that were not present in Eureka 7, like Japanese and so on?

So yeah, promising start to a series that I think most of us were pretty apprehensive of. Next week should be pretty awesome judging from the preview.

E7AO speculation

So they take time to make several important points in the first episode:

The moon doesn't bare the mark made by Renton and Eureka.

The Scub coral appears out of portals induced by something akin to a seven swell.

Airships are considerably rarer, yet Trapar still appears abundant enough to power small craft. Compaq drives don't exist, or are much different than originals.

Butterflies EVERYWHERE.

8 minutes in, the remains of a Tower are shown, but obscured by smoke/clouds. It looks like it is in a state of extreme disrepair... or construction.

People are terrified of the Scub, and seem to know nothing of Corallians.

Flora and fauna that wouldn't exist, do. Lots of birds, and a Sloth.

I think alternate-universe hi-jinx or extreme time jumps are involved.

edit: Like instro said, nationalities are back somehow, despite these being dissolved shortly after the exodus of Earth.

Also, Instro:

At the end of E7, a sizable portion of the Scub Coral/Corallians left to use another universe, while the remaining portion stayed on Earth.

The Corallians that left vowed to return when Eureka and Renton united the two species(both biologically, and culturally).

What an odd first episode. Honestly, I'm still not sure wether I liked it or not. Visually, it looks very colorful but the character designs feel weak. They're not as ugly as those in [C] but they don't really stand out either. They look pretty bland, overall. I'm also not a big fan of the backgrounds as I find they look a bit distracting. Still, I'm interested in seeing where it goes so I'm definitely gonna give it some more episodes even though I find Haru to be fucking annoying.

And I'm not gonna lie, that grandma is kinda hot.

Tomodachi wa Mahou
Mai Ritoru Poni: Yuujou wa Mahou 16

Ohmygawd, hell yeah Rainbow Dash.

Rarity is the biggest jerk in all of Equestria outside of Princess Celestia. Twilight and the other ponies try to do the right thing, try to help Rainbow in her time of need and Rarity is the biggest jerkface ever.
The Icarus scene was so fitting and well deserved for the actions that Rarity had taken in this episode.

But Rainbow Dash is a fighter.
The Sonic Rainboom was totally sweet.
It is truly minutes of sheer awesomeness from Rainbow Dash. The ending is so anticlimactic.
What a crappy reward for Rainbow pulling off the greatest move of all time but she seems happy enough so good for her. And Rarity apologizes for being a total jerk, and Rainbow being the great pony she is somehow accepts.

Updated rankings after this episode:

Twilight > Rainbow > Pinkie > Applejack > Fluttershy > Rarity.

Also I really love this outfit for whatever reason. Looks best on Twilight Sparkle, but that was a given.

Dead

well not really...yet
Very happy with E7 Ao episode 1.

Lovely art and setting, FANTASTIC music, genuine character interactions, and overall the feel of Eureka Seven is there.

The connection between the setting here and the original series will for sure be one of the driving mysteries behind the series I think.

I'll tell you this; real hands do look like that if you know how to play the piano when you actually play it if you're somewhat knowing of what you're doing. They're always supposed to be that lax and smooth when you play so that you can play for longer periods of time because of the physicality of the finger to wrist motion.

There's a few case where that doesn't happen, but when those people do it, it's way beyond exaggerated and definitely not what a real pianist would do at all except in the case of some of the more extreme cases of repitoire.

I speak from experience in this realm.

It's quite colourful so much so the world seems almost artificial at times. The sky looks really flat though and has no personality at all. It's not badly animated though. It's just strange. I guess the colourfulness fits the quirky world they're trying to portray though.

Some people before have commented on how the visuals similar to Ponyo but I disagree. Ponyo's visuals are much more vibrant and full of life, they feel more consistent and tangible as well. Tsuritama's are just colourful and that's about all.

This seems really random. I have no idea how this is going to go and I have mixed feelings from the first episode. Is it trying to be comedy or slice-of-life with the whole Haru being an
alien
?

I personally think KyoAni thought that since their daring move with the broadcast order in S1 worked so well (and I'd agree it was pretty brilliant), they'd do something even more daring. Shame they pissed half at least half their fanbase like that. I was personally fine with it,

I half liked it and half didn't.

The point could easily have been made with just three episodes, but using up all eight both reinforced the point ad naseum and also cleared the timeline perfectly for the events of Disappearance, which was fucking amazing.

So is E7:AO bad or good? What's the verdict on the first episode.

The worst part about Haruhi S2 are the people that have convinced themselves that it was a good idea :(
