It doesn't just sound like she's belting it out in the studio version of the OP. She really belts it out live too. I'm not sure what's going on here though, she does seem to be visibly (audibly) pretty tired, there are a few parts where she's too out of breath to keep up with the backing track.

Heh... yupp, their planet's pretty ridiculously similar to modern Japan-ish culture, certainly. It is on the absurd side, but at least it's set far enough in the future that they can do pretty much whatever they want, culture-wise... though the degree of similarity in this show is silly, it's the near-future settings, things set in like 50+ years, that are also pretty much identical to modern culture, that I think have the bigger problem.

This is why I say I do it with RPG's, the battles is basically menu hopping so t's doable to avert attention away especially strategy RPG's like Disgaea, it also helps during a storyline segment if there's audio in the RPG I'm playing because then I can more or less do the reverse of what flawfuls is saying.

Of course if I'm really invested in whatever's on, the portable gets sidelined.
