No, that'd imply that the VA is a loli herself, when we know that she's a crone in real life.

Kugiloli as a term refers to Kugimiya-voiced characters that are lolis.

Listen to this man, after all, he popularized the term.

How much constitutes "the beginning"? That could be 5 episodes or 50.

The early character introduction stage of Gintama lasts through episode 23 or so. I enjoyed those episodes quite a bit, but they are the weakest part of the show as it feels its way towards becoming comfortable with its material.

About when does it pick up? Beginning episodes is a little nebulous for such a long series.

Episode 25 is when it gets REALLY funny, but the ones before it aren't bad. Just know the first 2 are filler and star most of the cast before their proper introductions.

This is true of any season of anything ever. Admittedly quality went down the crapper toward the end of 2011/start of 2012, but rejoice brother, the time of our Apollon saviour's arrival is apon us.
Some seasons are much better than others, that much is true, but I feel that only looking a single season of anime isn't very helpful for commenting on the quality of anime over time. Then again, there really isn't that much point comparing one season to another, because the factors that make one show good in one season and one show bad in another are disconnected from each other.

Some years were clearly better than others, but there isn't much of a pattern to it. The easiest thing to think about is "how many shows were made in year X and what percentage of them did I enjoy?"

Its not even that. If there's one show you enjoy, that could make a whole season for you.

Winter would have been a total waste if not for Nichibros but because its there and I can only follow a few shows anyway, it didn't feel particularly barren to me.

Chizu has Hosoda. It automatically wins.

Also, we're probably forgetting one difference between Mappa/Chizu and Madhouse is the NTV money. Mappa might not get to do off the wall money losers like Chihayafuru if they can't find a sucker benefactor like NTV to fund it.

Getting the first production funded by FujiTV and airing on noitaminA is a good start I would say. :p

Exactly. This is why I don't get it when every season, people say it sucks or anime quality has down the shitter. There's always 1 or a few shows that's good enough to watch and it doesn't have be poetry in motion.

Correct.
This is how I see it.
By this method I have enjoyed something from each and every season of anime production.
If I miss something I usually end up blind buying the discs later anyway.

I really should start watching this. The Onegai Twins looking character design is turning me off, though.

While Taraku Uon did the original character designs for both shows, Masayoshi Tanaka's animation character designs for Ano Natsu makes them look more like Ano Hana than what I've seen of Please Twins.

So everyone has commented on the merits (or lack thereof) of AKB0048's designs before, but damn.

That design is stupefying. I really think that it's damaging my mind.

Nah, noitaminA store is super minor in the grand scheme.

Fuji likes the prestige of noitaminA so they will continue funding these things up to a certain point. I also have no idea why someone would slag noitamina for low ratings when the other stuff are shown on UHF channels and barely register on ratings.

Hey, to be fair by the end I'd at least reached ambivalence! Baby steps
and hopefully a Remon spinoff
Anything less than adoration is impossible for me to believe.

I remember that story about how they were disappointed by DVD/BD sales though. Besides, Noise would still be around if it was prestige based!

Screw kickstarter. We need a venture capitalist.

Or some crazy rich otaku.

I said up to a point! Fuji funding Apollon and Tsuritama (and Moyashimon 2) probably quiets down the noitamina is dead talk for a while.

Speaking of Ano Natsu, I never seen a show where they constantly kick friendzone girl to the ground that bad, even the final episode give no mercy :(
Well, I can't remember the name of the show from a couple of seasons ago, but they totally destroyed the tsundere character. It was glorious.

Until we get Guilty Crown 2.

It's true. I'm the only person who liked Nise unironically, probably.
There are enjoyable pieces of Nise, but the series flounders around and gets lost, failing to come together or make much meaning out of most of its content. I don't think it's outright terrible, but it is certainly disappointing. So much of it is forgettable and inconsequential in every way that I would be surprised if people point back to it even in the near future. Even the good will I do have towards Nise is largely based around my feelings for Bakemonogatari, and the ground work it laid for something successful to come afterwards. Nise uses Bake as a crutch for almost its entire duration, hoping that the viewer still remember and likes the characters while doing nothing with them. In many cases, threads of character development for the old cast are dangled there, but nothing ever seems to ever play out. It's as if the show itself forgets where it has and hasn't been, or simply doesn't care.

But at least we got Kaiki I suppose.

For anyone who's curious, here's the latest information I found for late-night TV anime ratings:

*1.1%(*0.4%) 03/02 (Fri) 2:55am-3:25am TBS Last Exile: Ginyoku no Fam
