I know that, and I stopped caring considering the fact that it meant that Brian Taylor won't get a shot again, but personality traits are a big deal, considering everyone else's final spotlight episode was far more consistent, even though Reika is my least favorite.

Honoka is the best reason to watch the original. Kiriya was actually not a bad character, just cliched. It made everything pretty predictable but still kind of heartwarming and cute.

What if underground years work in reverse and she's really only 7? The unspecified nature of underground years worries me.
This is the exact same justification that I made up when debating this with people years ago. "They're on a different planet, so it might have a longer orbit around its sun than the Earth!" I've never felt so proud/ashamed of my weaseling.
This is tough because urban fantasy is a really scarce genre in anime, especially when coupled with school life/slice of life. I honestly don't have any good suggestions to match your criteria, but I would still highly recommend Baccano! if you liked Durarara!.

Slice of life is not necessary though, it can be just about urban legends, I love that kind of stuff, it's just that I think having normal people involved in it is a lot more interesting than people with powers fighting urban legends.

Great Teacher Onizuka, Azumanga Daioh, and Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu are my recommendations. Azumanga doesn't have any urban legend ish stuff, but its still amazing. GTO is GTO.

Well its still only at part 1 of 4, so it really just served as a decent introduction. Hopefully part 2 actually comes out this summer and delivers on the teased action front from that one pv.

I think everyone else probably still hates on it, but I kind of liked Occult Academy from a few years back...

Threads like that Oreimo thread...I absolutely dont deny that there are gross exaggerations about the content of anime on this board. But at the same time, I really think this community isn't doing itself any favors by calling peoples disturbed by this kind of thing "righteous GAF", and posting pics like...that one just to get a reaction out of people.
I mean...is it so out of the realm of possibility that somebody can react to something like this that way? And when some are going to Wikipedia to read the description about Oreimo, or even watching the first two episodes in one instance, and they read about/see the sharing of porn games and such (at least that's what they were saying, including the people familiar with the show)...I'm sorry; being weirded out really isn't an unreasonable reaction. I could certainly do without the pedo accusations, but when there's that many people responding "DAT ass" and other such things, if only to bait people...

But just think that there may be a point where people may be in too deep to see how this stuff can look to outsiders, and that there are times where these reactions aren't entirely unwarranted. His art style is fricking amazing though its just some of his character designs especially female characters are bit crazy. I call it the Nomura syndrome.
I tired to warn them. They didn't listen. They posted the pic. I know it may of seemed from our perspective that some of them were jumping to conclusions but if you showed that to random people in the public I am sure they would jump to the same conclusion. Its hard not to. Its like the big elephant in the room.

The funny thing is by the standards of Imaishi. TTGL was incredibly restrained[/b] it's his most restrained and traditional show to date in light of Dead Leaves and Panty&Stocking.
I forgot to comment on these yesterday, but here it goes: Yes, what hosanna said.
I do not find Oreimo to be weird at all. The show is quite restrained and the content is astoundingly tame.
If we wanted to fish for reactions someone should make an official thread for the GotY coming out on June 1st.
