Spring Anime 2013 l OT One l All roads lead to this

I do not find Oreimo to be weird at all. The show is quite restrained and the content is astoundingly tame.

If we wanted to fish for reactions someone should make an official thread for the GotY coming out on June 1st.

Weird as in... I don't know what's it after. Main bro doesn't seem to get a boner or anything about the sister besides just being a bro. Other cast are just around mostly. Fanservice is random at times and never too... in your face.

Show is just weird. weird. weird.

but cute.

Oreimo isnt weird. Its actually par for the course at this point. It doesnt do anything particularly shocking.
Oreimo threads are an excellent demonstration of the difference between "normal for otaku who are knee-deep in the anime" and "normal for other nerds."

nah its normal for any nerd.
Us nerds are weird creatures by default.
The trick is to embrace that weirdness. Revel in it. Enjoy yourself.

Is it really the title of the show?

Anything that delves into incest or even insinuates it will be considered weird, and understandably so, by most people.

I mean anime almost has a genre for this and very few of them handle the taboo tastefully. Not saying such shows shouldn't exist but theres a reason why people will judge you and the show.

I never much gave a fuck about people judging me (except my Dad but thats another story).
But anyway, if theres a whole genre formed around it, it cant be very weird anymore by definition.
Now its just normal.

except it doesn't really... for a show with that kind of title, barely any incestous stuff even happens outside of really rare groping, 'kyaa i'm naked' scenes.

It's mostly quite tame and just a normal bro sis relationship with a slight twist.

snafuuu is fun. A bit of downer that best girl is a guy, but I like the jibs of the mc.

If you repeat a lie enough does it become true?

would that story happen to be a four-panel comic ending with angry father face? :p

Threads like that Oreimo thread...I absolutely dont deny that there are gross exaggerations about the content of anime on this board. But at the same time, I really think this community isn't doing itself any favors by calling peoples disturbed by this kind of thing "righteous GAF", and posting pics like...that one just to get a reaction out of people.

I mean...is it so out of the realm of possibility that somebody can react to something like this that way? And when some are going to Wikipedia to read the description about Oreimo, or even watching the first two episodes in one instance, and they read about/see the sharing of porn games and such (at least that's what they were saying, including the people familiar with the show)...I'm sorry; being weirded out really isn't an unreasonable reaction. I could certainly do without the pedo accusations, but when there's that many people responding "DAT ass" and other such things, if only to bait people...

...Look, the hyperbole and generalizations are annoying and disheartening. But just think that there may be a point where people may be in too deep to see how this stuff can look to outsiders, and that there are times where these reactions aren't entirely unwarranted. And that many of the behaviors of the people in this community who post in threads like those are not making matters any better.

Maybe I'm just agitated today.

I would like to see how one of these threads plays out without animegaf interference.
It would probably die after 2 pages of "lol japan" and getting bumped by a "WTF" once in a while.
So how it is now seems a lot more entertaining, I think righteous gaf is having a good time as well.

It does remind me though of a show known as My Sister is an Osaka Mamma.

It's like... a HEY this is what WE do, and this is what people in Osaka do.

The first few seconds before the title card though makes it sound like incest, so in a way, they're not helping themselves when they choose to present themselves that way.

Not like we make many interested since the last time I posted it. (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost...postcount=9261) :-(

Huh, I had no idea those were references to 80s album covers.

Bro that is not by any means of the imagination a normal brother sister relationship.

There's tons of instances were incest has been insinuated especially in season 2. As long as there's some trace people will pick up on it because its such a sensitive issue in the medium.

for any fan of anime
.

Yeah no. There are a lot of questionable "genres" and you may argue that by the literal definition of weird they are not but the content is still off putting and even offensive to some people.

I am quite a skinny non-neckbeard and I definitely wouldnt show my father uguu anime as an example (probably something like Kino) but otherwise yes its definitely like that.
I think my dad cares a lot less about my hobbies now since I am making ends meet all on my own without his help. I think it more just bothers him that Im not into the hobbies he is into as much. He did help me get the curio into my room as well as move furniture and shit. Im sure he just wants me to be a certain something that I am really not.

I guess I've just been in the trenches of the moezone too long then. :(

I need at least 2 cucumbers to feel any tortoise.

Detective Conan 200:
This episode did a pretty good job with the Kogorou/Eri relationship, even though Kogorou was absent for much of the time. It was nice to see once again just how smart Eri is, and how determined she is. Ran, on the other hand, was a complete idiot, regularly completely missing the point of what her mother was trying to do, and even actively hindering her with her own stupidity. The final scene with
Eri listening to her recording of Kogorou talking to her and asking to get back together
was very touching.

Yamamura, as per usual, is a complete idiot who fails to get anything right at any moment.

I didnt say every anime fan had to enjoy those genres, just that they are prevalent enough not to be weird. Theres nothing in Oreimo that wasnt explored to some degree before in other anime. Its really not a strange thing to see anime pandering to siscon.

But just because something is prevalent does not necessarily make it okay. I'd say if anything, starting to see this sorta stuff as something normal and not at all out of the ordinary should be the really worrisome part.

Boss ep.1
This series revolves around a group of peculiar detectives in a new division created to fight against an increase in atrocious crimes. Osawa Eriko is a beautiful career woman who has just returned from training in the U.S. and is appointed as the "boss" of this division. But despite her intelligence and capabilities, she can never understand a man's heart, so she remains unable to find a husband. In fact, her assignment in the U.S. was really a demotion after she ruined her career track over a man. So why was she chosen as the boss of the new division? Even though the detectives are talented, they all have some kind of issue or flaw, and they are considered to be the "problem children" of the police force. In the end, the division's true purpose is just to isolate these problematic detectives.

A pretty cool detective drama... The characters are all kind of cliché but still cool.
The strong female detective, the rookie, the gay dude who touches everyone's ass (well, the guys' asses), the old man...
And there's my waifu Toda Erika as the nerd!
As always the sfx look terrible, there was a god awful explosion in the first episode. Laughed so hard...
Still, it's enjoyable :lol

Oh and, would Tamayama Tetsuji

Dude...if you really think that saying "but there's lots of incest pandering anime out there" is going to make people think that the subject matter is any less distasteful or make them any less disturbed that people watch it, or that it's any less weird, then I really don't know what to say.

I'm going to go take a nap with my kitty.

Quotes like the one below is why we need more people to be interested and expectant of Mr. Yamaga visits to FanimeCon:
And, finally, someone asked, "Is Yoko really 14?" to much laughter and applause. Yamaga responded that "As the series takes place underground, time may be measured differently. So a year underground may be different from what we consider to be a year." That was met with the most cheering I had heard at the panel yet. Personally, I think it's the best non-committal answer I've ever heard.
As a side note, I like how even though it's probably a bullshit answer, they were prepared to put some kind of thought into how to make it work in a sense.

I also makes me think a bit of Aria when someone asked a question along the lines of "Wait, if these characters are teenagers but apparently the Martian year is twice as long as an Earth year, what age are they working from?"

I mean presumably, they would work along the lines of Earth-time - possibly celebrating two birthdays a "year" - but then what of those who were Martian born? Then I get confused and give up.

Anyway, for those that have switched over to hummingbird, I've made a list of names from people that have posted here. Quote to see the list.

My own slight contribution.

I guess I've just been in the trenches of the moezone too long then. :(

If I one day found out that my younger sister was playing porn games that involved under age girls and their brothers.....I..I can't even think what I will do because its such a mindfuckingly dumb situation.

Its really not a strange thing to see anime pandering to siscon.

Most times I've seen anime that have "siscon" use it when there brother is over protective or comedial purposes so you could say that. I think Oreimo is the real deal though.

The shonen guy doesn't recognise Gintama? Wut.

I know the anime but not much of it apart form the blue haired guy. I heard really good things about it and plan to watch it later.

What is the most lewd anime sister gif y'all got around to nuke that thread with?

can't be too lewd... but straddle that line.

Oh chickdigger.

A natural occurence when one has lived through the cycle many times:

Is it too late for me to pretend to be offended?

Some of them don't have their hearts in it anymore!
