I will agree with that. Mayaka's arc specifically, really struck a chord with me. In fact, I'd say its pretty universal, and as a result, makes her wholly relatable.

I thought the premise for SAO sounded good. The premise for that thing above doesn't sound so good.

I was referring more to the festival narrative more than anything. I appreciated that they didn't really gloss over the fact of just how crushing Mayaka's (and Satoshi's) plight was. Talent is often indiscriminate, and not at all fair. To be marginalized in such a throwaway fashion, well, it'd be particularly galling.
K. I don't buy anime stuff anyway.

Mayaka's hairstyle also sucks.
Except for when she cosplays during the festival, yes. She was a bit cute in that arc.

Slam Dunk 55-75
Forget what I said about this anime, Slam Dunk gets better and better! It may be slow paced as hell but it has characteristics which made Hajime no Ippo so good! Actually the first 'quarter' of this show was pretty boring because the lead character couldn't play any basketball and he only became a vital part of the team just recently.

Hanamichi's new haircut, as a way of saying 'sorry' and atone for his fault.
